Inserts cans fade for a number of reasons. Even the back side. It's not just from sun/UV exposure.
Not saying it wasnt bleached, but I'd like to see a known bleached example (rep or gen) where one gets that shade of fuchsia. It's a pretty rare colour.
Agree - go saltwater fishing in the Florida sun year round and see what happens to your inserts

Damn. Killer.

Of course a lot depends on how the owner presents the replica, be it a watch or a kit Cobra. I live close by Factory Five which is one of the top kit cobra Manufacturer's in the USA.
Every one of those is built with Factory Five badging. I'm not aware of anyone trying to pass one off as a gen.
In the rep watch world, there are a lot more scumbags out there trying to pass today's higher end reps off as gens. Or showing off their wrist and trying to pass their reps off as gens. That causes the black marks on our hobby that other products don't have to deal with.
I never hesitate to admit my reps are just that. I'm proud of my collection and of the fact that I paid 10% of the gen price for these amazing pieces.

Well said.
I've rebuilt my 1963 Land Rover from the front bumper to the back. There's not a bolt or hose or gasket on it that's more than 5 years old. It's loaded with aftermarket parts from all over the world. I think the only original parts left are the Lucas ignition switch and some glass and sheet metal.
So is it still a Land Rover?
Do you have factory wiring harness Lucas replacement smoke or did you use aftermarket?
I think some are works of art, and the skill that goes into some is superb, but they are still not real and authentic - which makes a difference.
A Factory Five Daytona Coupe is a BadAss car - it is still not a Shelby, badge or not. -
Concur - aftermarket

Nope - counterweight too large - 10 other things but I will leave that one there

It is legit - at 6500 smackers US it is over priced on a black dial, but it is legit.

His cases / casebacks are fake - convincing fakes but fakes.
There are a few threads on VRF on this guy - confirmed fakes.

If you read the current Hodinkee article (pretty good article) it states that all Rolex cases are hand polished - assuming the same for Tudor, you would get this.
Bane, I assume you are using a mechanical method to guide the case along the lapping machine to maintain angle? -
The case I have is supposed to be a PCG 5513 - '66
I've attached a pic. I think I'll need to take a stab at this lapping business to create some bevels / chamfers on it going by bane's amazing pictures / work as a guide. Any suggestions as to it are extremely appreciated
Lapping is an art and requires a tremendously expensive machine $4-10K and a lot of experience. a 63 PCG (1966 is after pointed CGs) is going to have less chamfer/bevel than a 58' NCG sub. but more than a 79 5513. Search a bunch of photos - I like to check hqmilton.com as a good comparison site.

I noticed my case doesn't even have bevels... this is very disappointing to me indeed.
Bevels (technically "chamfers") = vintage which is part of the appeal. Bevels vary by year to pretty much disappearing on newer pieces. The early vintage subs have the most bevel so a 6538/7922/6200/6542 have marvelous bevels - and Bane nails it here.

Movement is pink or brassy?
Tudor 7924 or 7928 CG or PCG subs have the Rhodium plated movement. Non-subs and the odd 7922s have the pink movements and the rest the brassy movementGood looking build
-
I'll get us started: $57k 5513" mislabeled in the auction with no serial or movement photo's... PCG case too.
Feel free to share more!
Hey Bawstin - that guy is always high priced.

Remeber, here ya gotta uze yah blinkah

Congrats! I have a tube to fit to a case that has a hole much bigger than it should be. Trying to think how to go about it. Maybe fit a small sleeve, then the tube.

Excellent - thanks again Nanuq

Thanks - I was considering making my own if I could not source one stateside so I suppose I could do the math
Any thoughts on why the thicker CWP one would be the preferred option?
Thanks

I need a bezel spring for a 6536/1 5508 - any suggestions?
Thanks!

That is a great insert and about as lovely as they get for that level of fade. I sometimes look at ones like that and think MK3 too as they resemble the superfats until you compare side to side. Due to the tool mark variations I have / had MK3s as fat as skinnier MK1s
-
I argued at length with the guy on a bezel that both would not fit (wasn't close) a gen sub and was likely for a different model No CG sub (shape was all wrong). Yet he argued that I was incorrect and that his parts were good. It took several conversations to get him to do a refund but he eventually did.

I almost bid on that movement for my 6205 (gawd I need some hands). The A260 is also referred as the Rolex Caliber 645 and as mentioned above is in BBbacks, 6202, 6204, and some others of that vintage.

Yep, MKIII
