  1. OK I think ive sussed the problem - on a V72 all three subdials are the same distance from the centre, however on a st-19 the bottom subdial is futher away (8.16mm as opposed to 7.81mm), therefore all three sudials have to be too small, the bottom subdial has to be smaller than the other two, or has been done on this new rep the bottom subdial runs into the minute track.

  2. I see the fly in the ointment in all of these Venus-powered Daytonas (note the way the hour totalizer bleeds into the minute track)

I think that answers the question about the subdial placement. :bangin:

Agreed, but if you look at the older ST-19 daytonas the hour sub-dial is clear of the minute track, not sure if the sub-dials are smaller or the minute track is thinner.

  3. Yes i Agree it does look thin! here is a couple of quick shots of my bond 6538!post-27094-127194804544_thumb.jpgpost-27094-127194823067_thumb.jpg

I think the problem is the rep makers cant find a gen to work from as it is rare, i asked trusty last year if he could ask the factory to replicate this watch and sent him photos of a gen 6538 he replied we dont have a gen to do a replication and this is why it hasent been done but this version is a step in the right direction but they need to correct the mistakes, i dont know why they dont get the crowns right they mostly make the crown too big but this time to thin!

What's that your using as a spacer on the strap I could really do with something simillar for my 18mm "Help For Heroes" nato?

  4. Thanks, what do you assert the watcheden bond (see link in 1st post) to be? Looks bigger but I suspect its my wishful thinking which says "8 mm"..

    MG

Doing a quick and dirty comparison it does look like the watcheden is an 8mm crown although it looks too thin.

  5. So we all know you can't get a decent monaco rep because the gen uses an ETA 2894 secs at 3, so its either faux chronos or a quartz.

However not many people realise (i certainly didn't) that the present monaco is a not very accurate "rep" anyway and only bears a pasing ressemblance to the original McQueen monaco which had round pushers and the crown at 6.

This model probably isn't "reppable" either so thats no help but there also seems to be another model with a manual movement which has three dials, secs at 6, crown at 3.

Could this model be repped using the copy venus movement in the same way as the Newman Daytona as i'm sure it would be popular or is this another monaco pipe dream?
