Hi Panera.
Congratulations for finally deciding to come to RWG.
You are very welcome.
Please feel yourself at home (just do not wander around in underwear )
Cheers,
Marco
Great! this looks like Chef's talk! Special dial "confit"...
In the meantime do you have an alternative to tobacco? I quitted the smokes 8 months ago and I can not have proximity to that stuff...
BTW do not forget to seal the "sugared" numeral cutouts with a coat of satin varnish being careful not to stain the dial surface with it!
Cheers,
Marco
Hey Falco, thanks for the compliment! I am flattered but technique is one thing and art is other.
I still think your work on vintageizing the dial and hands is way better than mine and I would really appreciate your help.
I am now working on something that will be very useful for all of us vintage lovers but I will only unveil it later on when I am positively sure of its production conditions.
Cheers,
Marco
Hi Falco,
Congratulations. I am totally impressed with your work!
It makes my work on my 6152/1 look like garbage...
This is certainly an abuse but would you help doing me a dial and a pair of hands for a future project I have in mind?
Cheers,
Marco
Now that everything had calmed down...
We were informed this morning that our office won a major Urban Planning competition on a french speaking country and I desperatelly need to un-rust my french...
so Tourby, can I have the contact of your french teacher?
Marco
Congratulations Adeeos!
A cal. 624.... I wonder if it´s a 16 lignes?
I am more used to cal. 616 and now I think I sourced a 618!
I must tell you that these mvmts are powerhorses and very - I mean - very reliable.
@ finepics:
Has the spacer arrived?
Enjoy yours!
Cheers,
Marco
Hey Kai,
616 and 618 have the same diameter (35,5mm).
I think Moljina has a slightly wider diameter and 620 is a mystery to me. Ask Mark and he will help you with that.
I saw a 620R and I think it has the same diameter as the 616 and 618 but I do not know for sure.
But since they are both 16 lignes they should all have the same diameter.
Cheers,
Marco
I am not sure but I think that mvmt has 41mm diameter.
To fit it inside a 47mm case you will have some work ahead... on the inside of the case.
as for the hands they will have to be worked to fit the canon pinion and barrel. At least I had to have it done on a cal. 616 cortebért.
Cologne is the city you will want to visit.
You will enjoy it.
Somehow I found it to have a southern comfort... very unusual for a northern city.
You wont want to miss the Museum Ludwig, the Römisch-Germanisches Museum and the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum.
Cheers,
Marco
Congratulations on your watch.
I imagine how you are enjoying it!
Mark's work is the best you can get (gold fingers and a x-tra keen eye for detail!) and it sure makes all the difference.
He actually can make a rep look like a gen (vintage or actual) and I believe we should all enjoy him as much as we can because one of this days Panerai will hijack him to work for them creating some Special Editions!
BTW could you explain me the "magic" on gREG straps? IMHO they look grotesque (sorry for that but its only my opinion on their looks and finishings)!
Enjoy that beautiful watch (but get a MF strap instead!)
Cheers,
Marco
