No no. Hold on. Holy Crap! Now I'm confused. Don't pull the trigger on anything yet. Let some others clarify this. Which one of the 2 is the supposedly trusted one? Holy!

I don't know where you can find a gen strap but you put a gen strap no this baby everyone will believe it's real and most importanlty YOU will believe it. The most important thing on a watch is the strap. Th strap smells quality, the entire watch screams quality. It never works the other way. Never. Maybe you can find a used one if you don't want to pay too much. MAKE SURE YOU GET A GOOD STRAP. Only then will you enjoy, fall in love and treasure your watch.

yes, interesting. http://www.puretimew...-leather-strap/ http://www.puretimew...-leather-strap/ One $258 and the other $303. The only difference I can see is the 'BEZ' in front of the expensive one's name. Anyone has any idea what the difference is?

here: http://www.puretimewatch.com/product/pam111-m-noob-transparent-ar-best-edition-on-brown-croco-leather-strap/ But the 111 is open in the back. where did you see $303?

Man this watch http://www.puretimew...-leather-strap/ is simply gorgeous! Put a gen (or close to gen) strap on it...Yummy!

Look under movement on this one: http://www.puretimewatch.com/product/pam005-m-noob-best-edition-on-black-calf-leather-strap/

Is this picture a rep or a gen? To me it looks gorgeous! If it's a rep, would you be kind enough to point me to the things that give it away? Just by loking at this picture only. thx!

Look at what it says under movement: http://www.yourtrustytime.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=37_49&products_id=8784

I would assume from one of the (so called) trusted dealers. Like Trusty and Puretime? That's what I would do at least. Search their wesbites for the version you like. Then you'll see various prices. Look at the deascriptions. Then look at the pictures. When you order a watch they'll send you QC pictures of your watch. Make sure eveything looks smooth. Post the pictures here if you want to get some feedback.

Hi guys, there seem to be 4 versions available. The 005M H, 005M Noob, 005 Lite and a 005K. http://www.puretimew...ing=005&x=0&y=0 Also the 318 which is the Brooklyn bridge limited edition http://www.puretimew...-leather-strap/ I'm planning to get one of these but I would like some help guys (not the kind that says 'use the search function', the other kind). Since the movement does not show I am mostly concerned about the exterior. For those of you that have more trained eyes and spot the detail better, which one of the 5 above is close to the gen? Thx!!!

The 005 would be a very good example then. Also look at the new 029. Those are good man. If you like titanium you go with the 176 or 177 but those have the open back. But the newer versions they have made some improvemers like the Platinum Plated Cortes de Geneve Decoration on the Bridges, Correct Shape Swan Neck, the engraved blue words etc but still, even though it will look better, you won't be able to fool anyone who knows a thing or 2 about Pans. But then again if they know a thing or 2 you won't fool them anyways. See what I'm saying?

not all of them need to be wound. Some are self-winding. Some are hand-winding. That's not because they are replicas. They go by what th gen is doing. For example 111, 005 are hand-winding and the 328 automatic. From what I understand, many like th ones witht he solid caseback because you can if it's of good quality it's easier to fool someone it's real when you hand it to them. Maybe not but if you insist they'll at least be left with this maybe. But once you look at the movement they know 1000% it's a rep. No doubts at all. Unless you convince them th watch is real, the movement broke and you had to replace it with an aftermarket. Hey! it just occured to me. Maybe I'll do that next time. I'll tell them I used to be rich when I bought the watch and now that it broke not so rich. I had to do the easy fix.

Is this the reason Panerai started making them like that? Because it started getting tougher and tougher to spot the reps otherwise? Or is it for some other reason?
-
From all the wesbites I'v seen the 177 and 176, for example, I never saw it with a solid caseback. I would very much be interested in one too, not only because i's easy to spot as a rep, but because I like it much better too. So the gen ones, which models that are glassone used to be solid? Does anyone know if the 176 or 177 were?

What is included in gen package? what box and tools?
poretl replied to lucil's topic in The Panerai Area
If you are talking about replicas I always had the question what the point of a box and the warranty cards is. Give it as a gift? But seriously? You are going to give this rep as a gift to someone as a $10000 gift? Either you are really rich, in which case you would never give a fake watch to someone, or you are someone who cannot afford such a watch for yourself in which case wouldn't it look suspicious in one way or another? I'm not asking the question to the OP, I'm just wondering in general. -
OK Pal. Take it easy. Just making a little talk.

I was in Vegas not too long ago. As you said, they sell them everywhere. It's amazing all those watch stores. I remember in the Forum Shops at Caesar's there is a HUGE watch shop among many others. You can literally find everything. You name the brand, you name the model, thay have it!

txcollector is the guy who can guide me then. I so much want a Pan 177 with the titanium case. Too bad it's a glass back. I want to fall in love with the watch, not lok at it and want to throw up. I know, I know. I should get the gen if this is what I want. Maybe not? In any case, I don't have the cash. OK, but to what I was going to ask. Where should I get my 177 which comes with the good movement? Searching around I found a couple of them, like 177F, 177J, 177M etc. Do you know which one I should go with and from where? Thanks so much!

So basically as long as back of the watch is glass you can't fool anyone no matter how good everything else is? Have you ever seen a movement of a rep for which you had to look and think more than 20 seconds before you say FAKE! ?
-
I have a question. Just because my eye is not trained (yet- I would like it one day to be) in the picture I posted above are the blue words printed or engraved? I really can't tell just by looking at this picture.

Thanks Mikellem for your input and time. That is what I was thinking. Who are we fooling. Come on! $100 is a lot of money for a strap. It;s not like it's dirt cheap. With $100 you can buy an entire XXL leather jacket of quality, detail and style (maybe not but you get my point). So this is why I was asking. When I pay $100 for a strap it better be good. I am aware that with $100 I can get some really good stuff from others, and I would otherwise have done that instead of sitting here wondering if the chinese stuff is any good, but the thing is that these straps also come with one more plus: they look exactly like the real ones. Of course that's not to say I will overpay only because they have the Panerai markings (this is the idea of Replicas- you don't pay for that) but it would be a perfect scenario if they were also of top quality (much like all the other aftermarket $100 straps). I'm not sure if you see my point but if the person you are recommending can provide top quality for only $45-70 why would the Chinese not give me the same (and even better) quality for $100? Are we getting ripped off?
-
Thx! After I look at the pictures you posted you can indeed see that the rep one looks like cr4p overall. Just out of curiosity, is this rep one of the better reps or one of the worse? Have you personally ever seen a rep one that you looked at and had hard time identifying as a rep?
-
Guys, anyone? Many watches from Pure time comes with these genuine croc leather 1:1 straps but it's $100 difference. I would like to invest in a nice strap that looks like the genuine. I can pay $300+ to get the real thing or pay $100 (not like it's free) to get the reps. If anyone has any experience could you comment? It would be a disaster to pay $100 for a piece of garbage while I could have saved some more and get the real thing. On the other hand, if it's good and hard to tell the difference and it;'s indeed reeal leather and quality, why pay 3X the price for nothing? Thx

Great looking watch! I have a few questions NTB =? Oncyte=? DSN=? CG=? I'm curious, if I have you these pictures ans I told you it's real, would you believe me?

Hi guys, I need some help here. Say you turned a random Panerai watch over and you saw what you see in the following picture. Is this a genuine, a rep and if a rep WHY? What gives it away? I'm trying to learn. Thx!
