  1. Definitely the chrono, while it's not a perfect copy, it is a good rep and light years ahead of the non chrono, the non chrono case is very off, and so is the dial. Have a look out for a gen pearl/insert for the chrono version and it then looks the business. The chrono case and dial are excellent quality although it lack gen quality lume, but not the end of the world, it still is a good rep.

Thanks a lot cougar, that's exactly what I needed to hear. I was leaning toward the chrono, just needed someone to help convince me. I'm probably getting it in blue, but what do you think of the black?

  2. Hey guys,

I'm actually in the market for a Planet Ocean, but I'm waiting until the ceramic bezel version comes out.  Since that could be some time, I'm looking to buy an SMP 300M to hold me over.  I've found two that I am interested in, but I'm having a hard time deciding.  I was hoping that some of you may have some insight or advice on these two.  Both are from Joshua:

    Omega Seamaster Professional 300M Chrono

    OMSE 00111 (http://www.1-pc8838.com/000omse00111-300m-2008-chrono-blue-a7750-updated-p-9106.html)

    A7750 with Updated Dial

Swiss ETA 2824-2 also with updated dial

As far as I can tell, the chrono is beautiful with the single exception of the pearl.  It seems terribly off center.  The non-chrono version seems nice, but it has the happy feet, which I believe is incorrect on the raised logo like this one has.  It's not pictured, but I'm also not as happy with the case back on this compared to the chrono version.  However, I can get the Asian clone ETA for $70 less on this one.

I've read some reviews here and they are helpful, but I'm still unsure.  If any of you own one of these or know something about them, please let me know.  I'd also just like to hear your personal opinions too.

    Thanks!

  3. Thanks Cougar, nice talking to you again.  I sent Angus and Mary an email also, but haven't heard back from them yet.  I don't know Toro or Trevor, but I'll shoot them a msg.

Andrew said they are coming out with a ceramic bezel PO soon.  I really like the orange, but maybe I'll go for the black in ceramic if I can't find an orange one.

    Anyway, thanks for the info!

  4. Just want to buy a 45mm Orange UPO and I'm being told by a few TD's they are out of stock.

Been off the forum for a while, anyone know what's up?

I tried Joshua and Andrew.  Never dealt with anyone else.  Any ideas?

  5. No, maybe I will contact him, but I've had the watch for about 5 months now. And really, it's not the fact that it broke (again), but the fact that I was told he would replace the watch with a new one and then did not. And to be clear, I did not request that he do this...he offered it. He could have told me he was only repairing the watch, but he very clearly told me that he was replacing it with a new one.

I guess I should email him. I think I should wait until I'm not so angry..

My plan right now is to replace the movement altogether. I'm searching the forum and the internet for a good guide. Anybody have any links?

  6. Update:

My crown (stem) has failed again. Like I said in the original review, the first watch I received the stem was simply too short and engaged the movement while the crown was being screwed back in. I sent the watch back, and was assured by Andrew that he replaced the watch with a new watch.

Well guess what? He didn't. I just opened up the back on this watch and it is the exact same on I sent back. I can tell because the "Omega" decal that is on the rotor is misaligned, and the is a small tool mark that I put on the movement holder inside the case.

The watch is now doing the exact same thing.

I will never again buy from Andrew. You lie to me once, and you have lost my business forever.

Hope it was worth it Andrew...

  7. Could it be that you were just unlucky?

or is this a rep worth staying away from?

if so, any recommendations on something more reliable?

No, I'm sorry, I guess I should have said that. I'm not meaning to say this is a bad model, I was just sharing my experience. It was a beautiful looking watch, and maybe I was just unlucky. But it lasted less than 24 hours before it catastrophically failed.

Then of course, the package never reaches it's destination. USPS Tracking still shows it as processed through Chicago with nothing else. And of course, I didn't insure it because I wrote $20 value on the custom's form, so I didn't want to draw attention to it by insuring it for $350.

So I rolled the dice, and lost. USPS F'd me again...

  8. @ vandal - aren't you glad you know the difference eh ;)

Not good karma mate selling reps as Gen :nono:

Not at all, and yes, I am glad I know. But what really shocks me is that you'd think someone who was willing to fork out thousands of dollars on a watch would do some homework to ensure they knew what they were paying for.

This listing even states "Japan Movement" right in the listing, and it still has 5 bids. Who bids on what they think is an Omega and doesn't know that Omega doesn't have Japan movements? I hate to see someone get ripped off, but some people just don't deserve their money.
