  1. This is the direction I'd like to go on the restoration... not perfect .. well kept/aged Pic of Nicer Ham/W10:
  2. Ohhhhh !! .... you made my sides ache ! "Stay close to the candles.. the staircase..can be trecherous "
  3. Finally pulled the trigger on a Hamilton W10/ Issued British Mil Watch .. I'd been wanting an understated Mil style to wear on a NATO for some time .. I was considering a Khaki King Day/Date 40mm and this W10 .. You know the saying .. "Old is gold" ..Patina and old world charm usually trumps new and shiny. Can't go down to the local store and order one of these, or buy a new one anywhere online. I love the simple styling on this one..and the case... and I love the fact that this was issued and worn in service.. very happy .. price was right... trigger applied. Now for the reason I posted.. besides show and tell.. It needs help.. hands for sure..possibly hour dot lume.. That's a gen Circle T on the dial.. pretty sure it's a real Tritium watch.. 1975 vintage. I'd like the hands looking better but in concert with the genuine patina .... looking for advice.. please keep advice budget friendly if possible. pics:
  4. Yuki has them for $248.00 .... Brevet re-pops. Other sources I should check for 8mm Big Bond Crowns ?? Thinking of trying one on an Explorer 1 or a New Sub with nuked CGs. Id like a better price if thats an option...
  5. Nice looking watch .. cant go wrong with a SOH
  6. Love the look on your build.. Looks like a well maintained older watch. congratulations.
  7. If I were setting up an auction site the buying would be immediate payment only.. Individuals aren't stores with layaway departments.Who wants to chase or wait for their money or deal with a douche that's wanting to pay you when his paycheck comes in 2 weeks? Feedback would be like the old days when you could say " shipped late or got screwed" if that happened. Communication would be strictly through PM's on the site to eliminate the Feedback Blackmail that some of the toads engaged in. Auction format would be wide open.. want a 24 hour auction? .. no problem.. Auctions could be from 1 to 30 days. Buy it Now wide open with no extra fee to include it. Set selling fees instead of percentage. Dedicated escrow department and personel to handle disputes... Auction personel you could ship items to for examination and fair resolution. There's a dozen other things I would include as well.. I'd be tough on those who didn't describe acurately or deal fairly- the whole market depends on being able to do business long distance safely.. without loosing as buyer or seller.
  8. flEaBAY has long garnered a permanent spot on my dart board. I suppose it's because they are so in your face about getting into your wallet.. unapologetic and aggressive from my viewpoint. Most of the descisions I see them make seem only aimed at serving themselves, lining their own pockets, and being giagantic pains in the ass to anyone selling there. So when I listed some expensive gen sunglasses 2 days ago on the Bay imagine my surprise when they told me "you cannot list certain items in the 3 day format anymore.. you must list them for 5 days" .. WTF???? How long before it's a 10 day minimum? [censored] ... If they allowed 1 day auctions they'd have more viewership... immediate sale for the seller and buyers would hit it up more often in surfing because of the new product available for sale that day... it would liven it up. Not that I want that.. I want some serious competition to come along and blow them the Hell out of the water.
  9. The issue you're speaking of is not confined to Rep watches.. Every new car dealer in the country has a Make Ready Dept. or Preventive Maintenence Dept. -There to double check the cars before they are put on the front line for sale because cars often leave the factory with things undone or not quite up to spec. This is standard proceedure for US made products coming from fortune 500 companies. Products from Rep factories will not have the Quality Control standards of 1st tier companies.. Expect this and Plan for this .. write a watch service into your own budget for your next rep. Buy a watchmaker's tool kit and go over your own watches.. nobody cares for your watches like you do. Try to find the faults before they become a problem.
  10. I bought my Titoni gen from Hong Kong 4 years ago.. it was not during the C new year. Took over 2 months but it did finally arrive.
  11. Had a problem in December on an inbound Christmas present ... Somebody at USPS "revised" the tracking info. One day it was out for delivery, the next day that info had disappeared. I was at home all day during the day it was "out for delivery" and checked the mailbox within minutes of the postman coming. There was no attempt to deliver. I ended up calling customer service in Washington DC the following day... I figured it would be a stronger play for interest on the package to come from Post Office brass in DC vs. coming from me a local customer. I also figured that tampering with delivery updates might be a no no and i wanted DC to check and see if the locals had messed up. Interesting thing.. within 3hrs of calling DC a local post office truck shows up and drops my package. This was NOT the route truck.. it was a special delivery made by somebody doing clean up duty. ... hmmmm ? Moral of the story.. nobody cares about your package like you. If you've got trouble, call the guys who have a say on whether somebody gets a raise or a promotion. 2 weeks ago I shipped some collectable coins from an Ebay sale via USPS .. 5 envelopes packaged identically and the local guys managed to rip one open and Loose the coin.. I was really pissssed because I had paid to have them cancelled by hand which was an extra charge and was supposed to keep them from sending my envelopes through their automatic sorting machine... doesn't look like that happened. I had my customer send me pics of the envelope. Damage Pic: Luckily the coin was not super high value.. I refunded the guy's money but unfortunately I had no replacement for him.
  12. Yes.. 5512 was COSC certified .. 5513 was not.. thus the dial difference.
  13. The review was on it's brother the 5512 .. here
  14. i sold a Steinhart Nav B Uhr in December.. it had the Unitas movement. I took it on trade - it was the PVD version which just wasn't my taste so I flipped it. Had it been a regular Nav B I likely would have kept it.. quality is good.. service is good. They are a good independent brand. You won't find many negative reviews on them. I would recomend them.. their Vintage look divers are cool.
  15. There's some cool people on WUS and a Full compliment tards.. some members and some mods. I spanked a douchebag overthere who was trying to hijack by posting pics of and rambling on about his watch which was perhaps the ugliest Audmars Piguet i've ever seen. The thread was showcasing some cool vintage 40's, 50's, 60's Seikos which though not the worlds most expensive.. were in fact very interesting watches with very nice designs that were very rare birds. Mr. Ugly AP just wouldn't let it go.. he was fishing for somebody to pipe up and tell him how awesome his AP was and it wasn't happening so he complimented his own watch. I fired off a little " Let's see some more Seiko pics.. they're walking all over that AP" and it really [censored] the small man off. The reason I say small man is that he started visiting my profile and checking on the threads I posted on and posted contrarian views to everything I said for 2 days straight. That was a mistake .... I decided to put it to an end by calling him out in public. I posted on a thread and he came right in behind me with adverse comments within minutes... So I counter posted... "Gee Mr. Ugly AP Douche ... I made one comment about your sketchy looking AP while you were trying to hijack and you've panites got so much in a bunch that you've been posting contrarian views to everything I've said for 2 days" ... I then went back in my post history and looked up every instance of his following me around and put the links to it in my post.. I also linked to my original comment about his AP" ... Ooohhh Mannnn !!! it was so funny !!! Guys started laughing at him.. making comments and calling the Mods in on him. it was hillarious !! I had a Mod reprimand me for calling him a Douche and put me on some sort of probation but I didn't really care.. 100% worth it.
  16. I visited one of the authorized Rolex AD's in my area today. Very nice experience, I really frown on the pretentious high brow bs some of the sales people feel they need to engage in at Jewelers/AD's so this store was right up my alley. Salesman was a young man in his mid to early 20's... kept it friendly, informative, and stuck to the meat and potatoes about the watches. He didn't hype or oversell and didn't try to pinch me into a commitment.. followed my lead and showed me most of the Sports Range they had in the store. I tried on a Deep Sea I tried on a Ceramic Sub i tried on a 39mm Explorer I I tried on a No Date 14060M sub ( I was surprised how small it looked) Best surprise was the numbers on the Explorer I 39mm.. I liked the previous version Explorer I which had white luminous on the numerals but was a skosh smaller at 37mm. From pics of the 39mm I was afraid the numerals would be too big and pronounced for my taste.. But that was not the case.. the numbers blended very well with the rest of the watch and gave it a balanced classic look. The dial was not really jet black .. more of a faded black or grey tint. Very positive impression on the 39mm Explorer I. Deep Sea was another hit though I'd have liked it to be 45-47mm.. I like the Big Chunky Monkeys. The Ring Lock which seems so prominent in alot of pictures was hardley noticeable at a distance from my eye to my wrist.. subdued, not a prominent gaudy feature and I was happy with the styling. Great Watch. Ceramic was great.. alot of value there. Had a larger presense than it's 40mm diameter would imply.. Impressive rock solid watch. 14060m/No Date sub.. I was disappointed to be honest, I thought the non date feature might make it seem larger but it seemed very small in comparison to it's ceramic brother. I had no intention of buying so I kept the visit brief out of courtesy ... Whole visit was maybe 10 minutes. I tossed out enough product info during our visit that the guy knew I had a grasp on the product line- I think he enjoyed talking to someone who knew the watches. After looking at the models he had on display I spoke with him about my Old 1958 vintage Gen Oyster and then made my exit. Very nice time. Interesting deal with this store.. Rolex was the only watch brand they carried.. and it was their main business. A splash of jewelry- everything else was Rolex. Cheers.. Kyle
  17. Nothing wrong with Tissot .. Old or New.. This is my Genuine PRC200 - rated to 200 meters WR and it is.. "sacrelige".. a quartz. I bought mine when they first came out.. first one I laid eyes on. I overlooked the quartz for it's strong looks and water resistance. It's probably been in the shower with me over 1000 times as it's seen alot of daily use in the last 5 years. I never use the Chrono function in the water.. I've had no problems or foggy crystal, etc. whatsoever.. tough as nails. It's been a great quasi Mil look everyday wrist rider. Fit and finish.. very good.. overall quality.. excellent- Tissot has been making nice watches for a very long time. And this is where Mr. PRC200 sleeps.. beside Mr. Titoni Airmaster 25j, Mr.Gruen, and Mr. Kabar.. ha ha
  18. Sky Chief's run Venus 178's or Valjoux 72's. Here's a Sky Chief for sale: http://www.farfo.com/menswatches/Page2/benruskychiefblack.html
  19. Im wearing a Genuine Tissot right now.. they are one of my favorite brands. Tissot, Oris, Doxa .. likely my favorite 3 mid range brands. That being said I think the watch you posted is priced too high. I don't want to dissuade you if you have your heart set on the Tissot.. But in the $1000 dollar range I'll put out a few of my favorite Chronos just in case...The Vintage Benrus Sky Chief .. The Ollech & Wajs MIrage III which is a new watch running real Valjoux 7750. The Sky Chief was very popular during the introductory days of Transatlantic flights with Airline Pilots... you can find nice examples for $800-$1200. Gnomonwatches and Westcoastime have the new O&W Mirage III. *****' Here's the O&W Mirage III
  20. The ETA 2824 was used in Tudor/Rolex watches and is a solid movement in any grade. Use the money you'd have spent on a new movement on a full service for your Hamilton transplant and run that baby down the road.
  21. Certina's are a really good value .. the DS First and Podium XL's are cool and their prices are strong for what you get. Any sensible person would be glad to own one.. enjoy it.
  22. No sale for any reason.. Cancel now.. Pull the plug 100%... Tell him to not ship the watch.. just send your money back. He's exhausted all good will.
  23. TAG's ideas are where? At making Money? Look at the 2 watches below.. where they came from vs. where they are.. If TAG updated their 70's vintage diver to a 43-46mm size I'd be all over it if it was priced right.. which is another one of TAG's problems.. pricing. One of their better styles right now is the Grand Date.. but it's a $1500 QUARTZ .. yeah.. an expensive quartz . Roll out an automatic diver in the old style and price it at $1500-$1900 and you'd be seeing them fly off the shelves. Here is where Heuer came from.. 70's vintage classic cool diver: And here is where they are today.. Some crapezio styling for the nouveau riche
