  1. I think this should be the spirit that separates this forum from all the others and the endless bashing and abuse all over the internet. And this spirit is ultimately one of the main reasons why I like this forum.
  2. France is no joke: http://www.ambafrance-us.org/spip.php?article793 My advice is to quit this forum membership and stay low.
  3. I always found that the strap makes +50%. It escapes me why some complain about the most minor details of the watch itself and than have a strap on it that cries fake from a mile away.
  4. That definitely looks special and.......hmmm...orange, :-) Do you actually own this Pete? Is the depth gauge still working?
  5. Yeah, the other guy to speak up I think was what made the OP go dark. But you cannot really blame him either.
  6. I feel with you mate. Something quite similar happen to me too once. I learned my lesson and won't buy M2M anymore unless I "know" the guy from many postings and have seen some good transactions.
  7. Nice. I have bought a Sternkreuz for the Silix case too. As I am a newbie for these builds: How do I exchange the crystal. Can it be done from the front with a crystal remover tool. Or will I have to pop it out from the back. Also will I have to remove the bezel to remove the crystal from the front? -Alex
  8. Has someone seen the new Nautilus with the decorated Miyota movement? Any comments? I feel very tempted. I own one of the older versions with the Selitta movement. It still annoys me that the bracelet has the additional lug holes, and of course the movement is an easy tell even for someone who has only a basic knowledge of watches.
  9. Couldn't wait to open this thread today to show off my newest acquisition inspired by Nanuq. Still has the plastic cover on the crystal.
  10. I think a chip would be a good thing. It would not keep us from our hobby but at the same time ensure that people are not scammed by people selling fake watches as the real thing. It would kinda take the sting out of the rep business. And as for getting called out...hmm. I actually share Pete's dislike of the brand. I think the design is overloaded with a purpose to show off. IMHO they are trying way too hard to make watches that look different and mechanical without aiming for elegance and that leads to a design that makes me scratching my head.
  11. Nice watch mate. Reminds me more of a Nautilus though. Very clean design.
  12. Or get this one: http://www.chrono24.com/en/rolex/ss-dominos-pizza-operpetual-air-king-bp-14000--id2220030.htm
  13. Same here in Germany. My insurance contract goes with a list which is updated every half year or so. It includes the reps. Ownership of reps is not illegal here, while putting them on the market is.
  14. Ronin, my watches have a special insurance and yes, it includes the reps. At least up to a maximum amount of 25k€ (which I do not have as of yet). This is all a matter of negotiating with the insurance.
  15. Thx mate. I would pull the trigger, but I just bought a gen Anonimo two days ago. Another watch before October and the wife will go ballistic. :-) But probably you can share some pics.
  16. No serious collection can get away without a Mickey Mouse watch. I ordered this one with an automatic movement today:
  17. I like their Traveller. This one is tempting me to make an exclusion to my policy to never wear non-mechanical watches.
  18. Damn I was immediately infected by the Disney virus. I started looking for this watch as I urgently want one but all I found was this: http://www.disneystore.de/star-wars---darth-vader-armbanduhr-419021119972.html?cgid=1500027 It needs some serious shaving of those crown guards.
  19. What really bothers me is that the guy still has an open account with positive feedbacks and anything, I mean he didn't even tell a bogus story how he got the watch but had all those papers etc.. and with the corporate award story he obviously made buyers believe that it was his own watch. Or does he work at a TD?
  20. Why would you go to a Gemologist? Every decent pawn shop guy would probably have more knowledge about watches, As I understand the certificate he didn't even open the case. That is a good concept though. Get a bunch of certificates for your reps and hope you get robbed. :-)
  21. Obviously there is an inflation of 6538s.
  22. I hope you don't mind me showing off my latest acquirement. I had been watching this watch going from 3000.- to 1800.- , 1500.- and finally 1200.- € and pulled the trigger a few days ago. It's an Anonimo D-Date Mod. 2006. I had seen this watch live in Italy with a black dial, and instantly fell in love with it. The good thing is when you have many watches you do not have to care about wearability that much and can by a bit more courageous with color. The strap is a waterproofed kodiak and can withstand 24h in water. The three-part case with a sand blasted middle part and a screw on bezel is among the best I have ever seen.
  23. We got insurance and more importantly two large dogs. :-)
