  1. Zig, its great to get good news about movements once in a while. The "seconds at 3" 7750 opens the door for a lot of new reps to come! Thanks mate.
  2. I kinda missed this one BT, as I don't really spend a lot of time in the Rolex area. I do love the Daytona however, and would one day love to pick one up. Not sure if I would go for a vintage or new style though?
  3. Yes, I noticed this one a few days back and actually added it to my Chrono Avenger Primer/Review
  4. It takes a lot of time, and I mean A LOT OF TIME, to do a review properly. It is a little disheartening to see 75 views and 1 response. I make it a point to try and add a little something to nearly every thread that I visit, just as a common courtesy. Please guys, your opinions, positive or negative, are just as important as a review itself. By-Tor may have a good opinion on a watch, but he is just one person, and endorsements or disagreements from other owners help to paint a clearer picture!
  5. Theres more to see and do here anyway!
  6. Well I felt sorry in a way, because this guy was making his first family appearance. But on the other hand if I said anything like "nice piece", then I know that it will come back later that I don't know enough about watches to spot a $6 fake. On the other hand, if this guy has been sitting at the dinner table trying to pass this thing off as a gen, then I've just labled him as a fraud. It was a very difficult situation to say the least!
  7. So I'm at a family gathering the other night. Its my brother-in-law's 50th, and his sister shows up with her new boyfriend. All I know is that this guy has been described to me as a "shady" kind of guy who "imports/exports" from China. So when he arrives I curiously look at his wrist, and my suspicions are confirmed. This guy isn't wearing a quality rep however, but a cheap "Rolex" two-tone, with the fake chronos with glued on hands and no pushers. Literally a $2 POS. Oh well, I ignore it as best I can. So after dinner I'm relaxing in the garden with a cigar, and my mother-in-law comes running out of the house with the two-tone abortion in her hands. Knowing I'm a watch geek she is anxious for my opinion of this beautiful Rolex. Being the type that doesn't like to call people out, I try to come up with something complimentary to say, BUT WHAT??? How can I risk my reputation by saying anything good about this thing? All I can say is "its a very very very cheap copy" and sheepishly hand it back. Turns out the guy paid $6 for it, as I discovered later when we chatted for a bit. But why would a grown man wear something like this? It was embarrassing for me, and surely, him.
  8. Wore this on the golf course this morning And this when I got home
  9. Welcome back Zig, hope the break was relaxing!
  10. The preffered movement would be the asian 7750, as (aside from the expensive eta 6-9-12 version) it is the only automatic chrono movement available. The Seagull chrono movement used in some manual wind reps is a more reliable motor, but is not as accurate as the 7750 in most cases. I feel that the 7750 has gotten a bad rap, as it is the movement iis used in just about all rep chronos. Even if it had the same failure rate as any other movement, the numbers would appear to be much higher, as it is such a commonly used movement. Also, because of the extra complications, there is just more things to go wrong with it. BTW, I have never had any problem with any of my chrono movements.
  11. My guess is that it is a problem in the hand stack. Something is likely rubbing, and thus stopping the watch. I would guess that removing the hands and (checking) reinstalling them would likely solve the problem. I'd speak with Andrew first and see how he want to proceed however.
  12. Saturday morning, and I'm wearing my Navi on SS
  13. The 50th Anniversary navitimer is not a 7750, but a Lemania (I believe). All the 7750 Tricompax have rotated digits.
  14. That is awesome vric. I like the 2-tone, but I am really hoping for an all gold version one day. They look killer on black gator!
  15. He could send me one of his watches to prove its him
  16. I would love to see a datewheel replacement. Despite the date font being wrong on rep Navis, the single digit fonts should be rotated 90 degrees toward the center of the dial (on the Tricompax version). Its a huge "tell" during the early part of the month.
  17. You are right IMO. The dial has a very clean feel to it. Just the basics!
  18. Pug is bang on about the subdial spacing. His was the best available version, but it is no longer in production. No current models come with the domed crystal, so I would suggest you look at the new 50th anniversary model. It also has a flat sapphire crystal, but so does the gen.
  19. I kind of find the big Bentley to be a little too much, especially on a SS band. They look a little better on leather, but still too blingy.
  20. I believe Ruby is selling 7750 Navitimers for under $200. Silix has the SFSO for about $100. The UPO Lite is no longer available.
  21. Thanks! The lack of a center mounted second hand took some getting used to. Kind of feels like a wrist mounted clock LOL. Definitely a more laid back kind of watch, as there are no minute markers. So its always a rough guess as to the "exact" time!
