  1. I was going to say something, then thought better of it. The walls have ears. BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING
  2. Hey By-Tor, unlike previous versions of this watch, the pearl is not attached to the insert. It actually is attached to a hole in the actual bezel, then the insert just sits on top (check Pug's post for photos). To get it perfect you would have to reset the pearl in the bezel with epoxy, apply the insert, then position the pearl properly. This would explain all the bad pearls, as on an assembly line the bezel is likely assembled without the insert. Without an insert there is no way to ensure a perfect fit.
  3. This just arrived yesterday and I thought I'd show it off. The bracelet was a [censored] to size, and I actually broke a pin in my attempt to do so. I took it to a jeweler who worked his magic. 5 minutes and $5 later it was on my wrist! The only issue is that the pearl is not sitting flat, but because the logo is straight, the crown screws down smoothly, and it is dead on to the second after 24 hours, I'm not that worried about it.
  4. Hey Corgi. I hear you on the outrageous cost of shipping to the far east from Canada. I have found that Purolator Express Post (I believe thats what its called) is pretty reasonable. I haven't sent a watch, but other small packages I've sent cost about $15. I wouldn't give up hope though, even EMS can take 3 weeks, so letter mail could easily take a month or more. With the Chinese New Year shutting things down for the next 2 weeks, don't plan on hearing anything for a while.
  5. I hear you. I mean, it really is a wonder that we get anything at all! I guess its the low price we put on these jobs. I have my watches delivered to my office as I figure that customs will be less likely to suspect a business package. The mailroom guys have yet to actually get any of my watches from the 2nd floor to the 10th. I have a European last name, and they pretty much figure anything that starts with a "W" is close enough. I'm not kidding you when I tell you I've gone searching through this building on four occasions, looking for watches that have been delivered to the wrong person. That is the reason that a tracking number is so important, as I must now notify the receiver, and they call me as soon as it enters the building.
  6. I know that some people have no need for Tracking numbers, but personally I find that tracking my watches progress around the globe to be both interesting and entertaining. Having done this a number of times, I have come to some come up with some pretty interesting conclusions / questions about tracking. TRACKING IS ACCURATE - its the post office that sucks. Lets use my current shipment as an example. -Shipped Feb 5 from China. -Dispatched from China that same day. -Arrived in British Columbia on Feb 12. Now, this tracking info showed up within hours of the events happening, but where did the package go for 7 days? As the route between China and BC is entirely over the Ocean, I doubt that stopovers were an issue. So we can only assume that the package sat in a bag at one end of the trip or another (my guess is on the Canada side). Anyway, the package now shows as being "Out for Delivery", so I know I will have it within 24 hours. Once again tracking is accurate. It may be frustrating, but I have never received a package before my tracking told me it was out for delivery. TRACKING IS INCONSISTENT. You would think that a system like parcel tracking would have a consistent set of rules (ie; individual parcels are tracked at the same points throughout the journey). Again using my current shipment as an example; -Arrived in Canada -Processed and en-route to delivery office. Other packages show the time in & out of customs. Some show more detail than others. Do the postal workers "wand" a package whenever the mood strikes them? WHY DO DIFFERENT TRACKING SITES SHOW DIFFERENT INFO? Canada post has one set of events, EMS China has another. You would think that once in Canada, the events would be the same? WHY DO MY PACKAGES TAKE LONGER THAN EVERYBODY ELSE'S? Every time I see someone post that the got there watch from China to North America in 3 or 4 days, I just want to kick them in the nuts! I ordered this watch on the 2nd, and I'll likely receive it on the 15th, and this is probably the fastest one yet! All this waiting is taking years off my life. WHY? Anyway, another wait is almost over and the anticipation is always the best part. If you guys have any Tracking/Shipping stories you'd like to share, I'd love to hear them while I wait!
  7. Looks like a POS with faux subdials.
  8. Mine is on a genuine Breitling strap. I like the SS, just find it scuffs way too easy, so I just keep it for special occasions.
  9. I'd be happy with it. I just hope that when mine shows up later this week it looks as nice!
  10. Thanks for sharing! Its nice to see some female wrists for a change! Great collection too.
  11. Everything looks good! I notice that the crown isn't screwed down though?
  12. Me thinks that you will have a hard time finding what you want from any dealer. They all know who you are and what you have done. Your actions have inconvenienced just about every member here. Thanks a lot.
  13. My watch just landed in Canada yesterday! I was praying that it wouldn't get stuck in China!
  14. Swiss or Asian, doesn't effect the crown or dial. All are made with the same pieces.
  15. I went for the asian version. Should be here by the end of the week, so I'll let you know what I think. Personally I've never had any issues with even the cheapest Asian movements, so I can't see this one being any different.
  16. You wont need to remove the rotor. You will: -Remove caseback -Remove crown & stem -Remove the "movement holder" screws & clips -Now remove the movement At this point I would -Remove the hands -Remove the dial from the movement On the back of the dial the are sometimes small holes used for positioning things like dial marker and logos. If your dial has these I would try using a small needle to push the logo off from behind. I don't think that you will be able to pry it off from the front without doing serious damage. As another word of warning... Understanding what you have to do is only half the battle. Having done this kind of thing on several watches, I can tell you that the screws, parts, hands, etc., that you will be working with are extremely small and hard to manipulate. I never look forward to opening a watch as most times it ends up frustrating the hell out of me. As you have never done this before, I'll tell you that the odds of you screwing something up are far more likely than you fixing this problem. If it really bothers you, send it back, or as I said before, get a replacement dial and have someone do the work for you.
  17. It doesn't sound like you have enough experience to pull this off without severely damaging something. I would contact your dealer and see if he can send a replacement dial. Then have a watchsmith replace it for you.
  18. Interesting post Pug. Why do you think it is so recessed? Everything seems to be in order, so you would think it would be sitting just fine. As awesome as this watch is, the seems to be a lot of quality control issues with it. Crooked logos, stripped crowns, bad pearls, I'm just hoping I get a good one!
  19. Dreaming about the gen whilst wearing the rep on the right! Strap is gen though!
  20. Thats correct. There's a springbar in there, so just move it inboard to tighten it up.
  21. I have a watch at Guangzhou right now. It was posted on the 5th (tracking showed this quickly) but no movement in 4 days. I figure its either bad tracking or something to do with the Chinese New Year. I always hear about guys getting watches in less than a week, yet mine are always closer to a month! GRRRRRRRR
  22. Does it really matter? Nobody (unless your name is Cousteau) will ever have a use for it.
  23. I've still got my mint 1984 Fiero. It was the first "real" car I bought, not counting some early "beaters". It's been stored every winter and sees only limited use in the summer months. It's a sweet little car to drive!
  24. Sweet, are these from your brother?
