  1. Hey congrats brother! Have a great wedding and honeymoon!
  2. Not sure but I think this might be the same Cosmonaut that Silix started carrying about six months ago...
  3. Was just cruising the sales section at RWI and came across this beauty. Beautiful watch, but at $420 its a hell of a deal for the movement alone. Thought someone here might be interested! http://www.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php/cartier-santos-100-chrono-swiss-75250.html
  4. All great watches but the no-chrono version is the most accurate. On the chrono models the gen uses an ETA 2892 movement I believe. The rep uses a modified A7750. Even though they have reworked the subdial spacing, the positioning of the pushers is incorrect, symmetrical on the rep and asymmetrical on the gen. Also the datewheel is recessed on the rep. On the non chrono model the only glaring flaws are the pearl sitting too low in the triangle (exists on the chrono as well) and the lack of a decent blue AR coating, although I believe Omega has changed to a clear colored AR recently if I am not mistaken. Both are nice but the non chrono is far more accurate. That said, go with the one you like, as you are not likely to ever run in to someone with enough knowledge to be able to point out any of these flaws.
  5. Guys have been transplanting gen day/date wheels in to A7750s for years. I don't see how there could be a problem.
  6. I talked to Josh about that. The 2813 models are now using a one piece crystal. All should be good with that.
  7. I really am considering that option. My only issue with the V1.5 is the non functioning bezel lock as you know the first question anybody will ask is "what does that big orange button do?". I am really starting to consider it though as shelling out over $300 for a non-chrono, Asian movement is kind of rubbing me the wrong way.
  8. Problem is that the pictured Navitimer is no longer available. I would be very surprised if you received that watch.
  9. It seems that all are in the area of $308.... except Tony who has them at $275.
  10. Been a couple of years now since I've purchased a new rep and I'm starting to get the itch again. I'm looking for a V2 Ploprof with an Asian ETA and Orange strap. I see Josh sells them for $308 but there must be someone selling them cheaper? Any suggestions?
  11. Funny, I was just reading about DJ Ashba yesterday. Can't say I've ever heard him play as I'd never give anything the new Guns recorded the time of day. I know he worked with Nikki on a solo project recently so the guy must have chops!
  12. Yeah, he's ditched the PRS guitars for now and is using Gibsons exclusively. He takes about a half dozen Les Pauls on the road, a couple of bursts, a black one, a gold top, and a few "new" colored ones. He always pulls out the 355 though as that is the guitar he was using when they recorded their classics. If you listen to A Farwell to Kings you'll hear how sweet and distinct the tone is. BTW, just finished reading Slash's autobiography and was surprise to learn that in the days leading up to the recording of Appetite for Destruction, Slash had sold off all his decent guitars for drug money. He was very worried because his solo sessions were fast approaching and he didn't own a decent sounding Axe. His manager at the time walked in with a Replica 59 Les Paul and the rest is history. Slash still uses that rep to this day for recording, as it sounds better than any guitar he has ever owned.
  13. Love those hollow bodies. This is my grail right here... Gen is about $6000 if you can find one, but way out of my league. Maybe I could have that rep 335 moded? Hmmm, a franken guitar rep!
  14. As you can probably tell, I'm an Alex Lifeson fan. I agree with you, but I really love Alex's white 355 and this is actually a 335. Its still nice but isn't exactly my "dream" axe. The doubleneck is close to Alex's, but his has a much shorter headstock on the 12 string. This is more like Jimmy Pages model. The Les Paul would probably be the best option for me at this point as Alex has started playing them exclusively, and many of the artists that I tend to play (Page, Slash, Rick Neilson, etc) are all using Les Pauls. I've heard a lot of people talk about avoiding rep guitars, but from what I have been able to discover, these reps are built using mostly Epiphone parts. It is highly likely that the entire guitar is built by the same company that is manufacturing Epiphones for Gibson. They look to be pretty nicely made, and at under $400, I don't think I can go overly wrong.
  15. Can't believe its been well over tow years since my last watch purchase. I'm keeping my eyes open for a used Graham Diver (Dave, you shoulda sold me yours!!), but also have my eyes set on this interesting replica... or possibly this... or maybe even this...
  16. Yep, 6:00 dial is frozen. Its a shame they didn't put a little more effort in to the dial. The crown and ROC are way too large and the subdials seem to bee a little too big as well, but overall its a really nice piece and the ST19 movement is probably the best movement available in today's reps. I can definitely see picking one of these up!
  17. Lani was notorious for being overly generous. $100 isn't out of line for a decent dial.
  18. There has been much evidence over the years that dealers waterproofing service is a scam. The case of one member's UPO that showed up with a completely stripped crown tube comes to mind. How on earth could that watch possibly be certified as waterproof? My advice to you would be to buy a watch specifically for swimming. I'd stay away from chrono models and stick with models that were designed as diver watches. I've had great success with Planet Oceans and the Breitling SFSO. I'm also considering getting a ploprof for this summer. I've never even bothered greasing the seals, just make sure that the caseback is tight (usually isn't) and that the crown and he valve is tight. Only issue I've ever had was that a bezel insert popped off a Silix UPO while on a particularly rough water slide. Since then my SFSO has become my "go to" water watch.
  19. The BS has the same flaws as the regular Skylands. Same dealers as already mentioned.
  20. The gen is 41.8mm. The rep might be ever so slightly smaller but not by much.
  21. Movement swapping in Navis is a quite confusing topic. We went through all this a while back when a member was trying to fit a gen 7753 in to a rep case. I think what we found was that for the 7753 to work he needed and old slow beat 6-9-12 case. What makes things even more complicated is that the manufactures keep changing the design and the sellers don't update their pics. Ideally you would buy the 6-9-12 Navi that you posted (both the same, just one is on leather and the other steel) and you should be good to go, only having to modify the seconds hand and the subdial hands slightly. But, the Fighters edition that I have seen shipping lately is NOT the one pictured and actually has a sunken datewheel for some silly reason. Best advise I can give is to keep your eyes open for a used fighters and use that.
  22. Except for the pube on the lower pusher its brilliant!
  23. 22mm straps will fit. Check Josh or Andrew's site for some nice rep leather or rubber straps.
