  1. Looks pretty cool in this video...
  2. doubt it, but you never know. My feeling is that the SA ring would be slightly bigger.
  3. Invest in a decent Dremel set with assorted polishing wheels and polishes. If you spend some time you can bring up the shine, but I really don't mind from the factory. I polish mine once a year to remove all the swirls and desk diving marks, but really wouldn't bother polishing a brand new bracelet.
  4. I don't get why you would do that? How accurately do you think you will be able to read your elapsed chrono time in pitch black conditions? Have you memorized the values on each subdial? As there are no cutouts on the hands for lume, you'd have to just throw a blob on the end which would look stupid. Also, the intensity and duration of lume is directly affected by the amount that you put on there, so in all likelihood your subdial hands would only glow for a minute or two. Hope that you are not planning on timing anything longer than that. There is a reason why Breitling never lumed those hands in the first place
  5. guys generally make observations about color, especially blue, by viewing their favorite watch at an AD where the watch face is bombarded with quartz lights causing it to look completely different. I have a rep blue Skyland and notice that the dial color shifts greatly based on the lighting at any particular time. Sometimes it looks almost black, other time its a very vibrant blue. I am fairly positive that if a Breitling expert were to examine my Skyland, the color of the dial would not be a factor in is determination whether the watch is rep or gen. I don't think that we can make any assumptions about the dial color until we see a side by side pic with equal lighting. Even then, the gen and rep have different colored AR coatings, which would probably make the dials appear to be a different color even if they were identical. Bottom line, if you like the blue, go for it. The exact shade of color is not that far off that you will ever be called out on it.
  6. Not sure exactly what size my wife's wrist is, but its certainly much smaller than 5.75", and there are still many links to spare. Very difficult watch to size though, I ended up having a jeweler do it.
  7. About 3 or four years back, when the UPO was still fairly new to the market, Josh and Andrew did a limited run of UPOs with DG 4813s. Exact same watch inside and out, just different movements. Price was outstanding at under $120 as I recall. I've got two of them and still wear them quite regularly.
  8. Really don't think their would be any room for an overlay Mickey. That transfer gear bridge is pretty tight and anything thicker than the original datewheel is probably going to bind up. I really don't understand why the manufacturer hasn't done a proper datewheel for this one. They did a proper one for the PO Chrono for christ sakes, why not the Navi?
  9. Would a 3:00 datewheel be that far off? The way I figure it a datewheel is 360 degrees. With 31 numbers, thats about an 11.5 degree rotation per digit. As the date on the tricompax is at a 45 degree angle, that would mean that the date would read from the number 4 digets down which would be at an angle of roughly 46.5 degrees. Would 1.5 degrees really be that noticeable? anybody tried it?
  10. As you have already stated the reason why most prefer to go the 7750 route, because its a more accurate reproduction, and because of our fascination with all things mechanical. The Asian 7750 has come a long way and is far more reliable than it was 5 or 6 years ago. I have about 5 of them, and they have all been running problem free for between 2 & 6 years. Be warned that the A7750 does not come properly lubricated, and should at some point be sent for a proper service (I still have yet to do it) at a cost of about $200 I believe. Our expert watchsmith states that a serviced A7750 will be just as reliable as the genuine article.
  11. Yes it is almost identical. The caseback is different, but aside of that and the branding on the dial, its the same watch.
  12. As I was deciding what watch to get the wife for christmas, I contemplated getting her a rep J12. However, giving a loved one a rep just didn't sit right with me. I ended up buying her this... Its a genuine swiss quartz, complete ceramic, and has a warranty. Needless to say she just loves it and has got more compliments than I ever had on any of my watches. Best of all, she doesn't have to worry about the stigma of wearing a rep. Girls are more self conscious about such things.
  13. Looks awesome Rob. Its funny, I was reading a thread at RG yesterday where a newbie Navitimer fan wanted an opinion of the Navitimer rep. The guys over there had simply nothing good to say about it. We all know that it isn't perfect, but after owning mine for about 6 years I still wear it more often than any other watch and have yet to be called out on it. Today's rep enthusiasts are a different breed for sure, and are more concerned about perfection than the actual beauty of a watch. Anyway, if I can find me a Breitling datewheel mine's going of to Zig for the same treatment!
  14. Subdial spacing is the giveaway on this one. You will notice that the subdials are a little closer together on the porn version. Its either a 21j or quartz. The knurling on the bezel is likely there, just not visible because of the photos. The crown looks ridiculously small though.
  15. That appears to be a fake Breitling for Bentley GT.
  16. I think you are spot on with your chronology Importr. The brushed Serie Speciale that they released was simply a brushed V2 with a swiss movement. All the same errors, and a bit of a stretch at almost $900. I'd have to say that of all the Navis I've seen, the genuine Fighters is by far the nicest. The beefier bezel and case and the brushed appearance really made for a very macho looking watch. Regular Navis are awesome, but the SS took it to the next level As for making a franken Navi, the only real formula is an old school fighters, a gen Old Navi dial, a proper datewheel, AR, and a tricompax caseback. Aside from the model number and the color of the slide rule insert, you'd have a pretty convincing rep.
  17. Start exercising your arm now. Thats one heavy chunk of steel.
  18. Nice watch! How come it took so long?
  19. They happen to be on sale for $80 cheaper at a7750.com. http://asian7750.com/cn/product_show.asp?P_id=1303&ti=
  20. Get a Black Chanel J12 Quartz. My wife just loves it, and she was never a watch person.
  21. I believe they are only using the a7753 in watches that have a quick set date pusher.
  22. Sorry, according to what pics?
  23. You were rookie of the year? No [censored]? Who voted for that? Just kidding mate, you were a worthy winner! BTW, did they give you a sash? you should have worn it to the gtg ;p
