  1. The white text is the only aspect of the 42mm that is showing up on this though. I believe it has a different font on the bezel, he valve at 10:00, fully brushed case and a more outboard date window. This watch has none of those things.
  2. You hit the nail on the head there. If you are a steady customer the dealer will make an effort to keep you coming back. Dealers make very little on parts and they are probably a pain to get, so unless you have a history with them, forget it. You hit the nail on the head there. 3. I think given the time that the day wheel may just be starting to turn. Also, the second hand looks like it is set a little to the right of center. Not a huge deal but just one of those things that bug me.
  4. IMO EMS and Airmail are exactly the same thing. Just got some shoes that I ordered from China that were sent via airmail and the route and delivery time was identical to any EMS package I've ever received. When you think about it, if its going by air, how could EMS be faster? Supersonic Jet? I doubt it.
  5. I'd have her pick another. The date just ain't right. I do have to giver her credit for providing the best QC pics I've ever seen though!
  6. Have to disagree with you. The old school Seamaster Chrono is all but perfect. The only two flaws being the bracelet pins (undetectable anyway) and the slightly low pearl. The new PO and the UPO are nice, but I don't think the dial comes anywhere close to the gen, and the pearl is even farther off. I can easily spot a fake PO, but many times in pawn shops I have not been able to confirm the validity of an SMP Chrono one way or the other. It really is that good.
  7. Thanks Rob, Merry Christmas to you as well!
  8. Sounds like a tangled hairspring. Put the watch in your palm, face down, and give it a good slap on the back. You will likely find that it will be enough to separate the coils and slow your watch to normal speed. Honestly, the watch isn't worth enough to repair, and the new ones are much better.
  9. You could do one of a couple of things... - Replace the movement. If you go swiss eta, you are going to pay about $500 for the movement, then you'll have to pay a watchsmith to swap the datewheel and install the movement. Expensive, but you'll have a nice swiss watch. Replacing with an A7750 is going to cost about $100 for the movement, then installation costs. Probably under $200 all in. Problem is there is no guarantee that you won't end up in the same predicament a few months from now. - Service the movement. This will cost about $300 from the Zigmeister. According to him a serviced A7750 is as reliable as an ETA. This is a more affordable option and not a bad route to go. - Repair the movement. This option is fairly cheap, and it is quite possible that there may be a simple fix. On the other hand, it just might require a full service. - Sell the watch and buy a new one. If you list it here for about $100, some do-it-yourselfer will snap it up quick. Put that cash towards a new model. If it were me, I'd buy an A7750 and install it myself. Depending on your expertise in taking apart watches, you might be better with a different option.
  10. When you are talking about the blacksteel, there are only two versions, the V2 & V3. Long story There are some minor differences in the watches, but it is generally conceded that the V2 is slightly more accurate. The big difference is in the coating of the watch. The V2 is DLC coated, the same process used on the gen. The V3 is is PVD coated, which gives a blacker, shinier appearance. In this case its a wise decision to pay the extra money and get the V2.
  11. Damn, I gotta get me one of those!
  12. I guess its possible, but without a way to set the date quickly, I doubt it. The Daylights have a quickset button at 10:00 where you set the date. On gen Navis there is no button, you have to run the hour hand back & forth over 12:00 (I believe you go back to 9:00 then over 12:00) to advance the date. I don't think the A7753 allows this, and I don't think the general population would be happy advancing the time 24 hrs to advance 1 day. Try advancing a 7750 20 days or so with this method some time!
  13. How come they can get the pearl location right on the bling version and not the rest? Still, looks like a very decent effort.
  14. Not very easy at all, in fact virtually impossible. The gen 6.75 is based on aETA 2892 movement, while the rep uses a modified 7750. Although they look pretty similar, I can guarantee that nothing on your rep will line up properly on a gen dial.
  15. Kinda think buying three versions of the same watch a little silly. Breitling do have other watches, and a lot of them share at least a few common traits with the Steelfish. I guess some people are just not in to variety.
  16. Pics aren't the greatest but I'm pretty sure the Evo is the gen
  17. Good job! The 4th gen is probably one of the best modding platforms out there!
  18. I dont think it'll be on ebay for very long. Obviously someone is trying to sell reps to the masses.
  19. Looks awesome Rob, another beauty you got there!
  20. I've had it for a long time but RWG never seemed to work for me. Your post inspired me to try again and my first impression is that it is very slow. Only 2 of the half dozen forums I visit are available, so I still have to use safari. On the plus side, it's very readable and easy to navigate with. Speed will likely be what stops me from using it though.
  21. Buying off trusted members can have advantages. They generally give you an honest appraisal of any flaws that may exist with the watch like crooked markers, dust on the dial, marks in the AR, etc. You will not get that kind of pre-sale description from a dealer. If the owner has 40 watches, I can guarantee that it has not been more than a handful of days in total. Add that to the fact that this particular watch may not be available anymore, and the price really is not that far out of line. Is he paying shipping? Because if you order from a dealer, you'll have to pay that as well. On the other hand, I have seen many reputable members over the years involved in bad deals, so just remember that just because someone is hear a lot, it doesn't necessarily make them honest. In private deals, the buyer is the one that holds all the risk. The seller will demand the money in hand before anything ships, so it is you that is most likely to get burned. That risk should be taken in to account in the price. If you want my honest opinion as a long time member, I'll tell you that $25 off list is not enough of a savings to merit a deal IMO. Risk of a bad deal and lack of any after sales service or warranty just isn't worth $25. Buy new or counter offer with a more reasonable price.
