  1. Yodap is correct on the visual aspects, but it's the unseen benefits that make the v3 a viable alternative. First, price. My v3 came in at well under $200, almost half of what a v2 was going for. Secondly, the v2 had movement issues with many reports of DOA and continuously running 6:00 subdials. Thirdly, the v3 movement is properly decorated, including the bridges, spacer and rotor. All in all there are several reasons to argue that the v3 is a higher quality watch, even if is less acurate visually.
  2. Ubi, you have to do the crown. It's not just the quality, the rep one just look wrong. Looks like it has a circle around the omega logo?
  3. Gen straps can be bought at most ADs. Your deployant buckle will work fine, the gen is very expensive. Croc is pricey as well so you may want to consider leather.
  4. Very nice! Would be well worth putting a gen strap on that one.
  5. That blue diall looks sick Dave. The pro I looks great with it too. Is the chapter ring yen as well or do you have to use the rep?
  6. I really feel that Schumie has a great chance at doing well in Spain. The Ferrari just finished 2nd in the hands of an uninspired Kimi, I have no doubt that Michael can do better. As for Button, the Ferrari/McLaren reemergence is a good thing. From What I can see, Brawn's head start is over and they will be relegated to the middle of the pack (which means no points) for the rest of the season. Webber Is the only driver with a reasonable chance at catching him, but if Schumie & Hamilton are back, its going to be difficult to do two points at a time. Should be a great end to the season, whatever happens.
  7. Possibly there is an o-ring or gasket in there that is a little tight. I have some watches where one pusher is tighter, but as long as it functions properly it should be good.
  8. Working fine on mac using safari, but my ipod touch seems to be defaulting to a text only look. I can switch it, but it pops back to text only after a couple of page views.
  9. Its interesting how the argument a few years back was "Windows is better". Now the argument is "Windows is cheaper".
  10. You hit the nail on the head there mate. I think that is what sets Senna and Schumie so far above the rest, their ability to translate what they are feeling in the car to their engineers. Schumie had so much input in to the development of his cars that you could say they were specifically built for his driving style. I wonder if the current ferrari will suit him quite as well?
  11. I honestly feel that every once in a while there comes a driver who's abilities are far above anybody else's. Senna was one, and Schumie is another. F1 is a tough sport to gauge driver talent, because the winners generally have the best equipment. The true great, like Schumacher are able to win with second rate equipment. Jordan was a bottom tier team when Shumie stepped in and masterfully qualified it at the front of the grid. Benneton could do no better than inherit the odd race win until Schumie came on board and took them to two world championships. And Ferrari had a long history of not winning before Schumie won them an incredible five titles. This guy's skill level was just so far above everybody else's that he could do no wrong. How will he do in Spain with no testing and a three year absence? I think that Michael has always been a fitness buff and is probably in top notch shape. His talent is natural, so I don't think his driving abilities will have diminished much. What I worry about is that at 40 years old, his reflexes may have slowed. But, Spain will likely be the most long awaited GP in recent history because love him or hate him, Shumacher brings excitement.
  12. Very interesting, I missed that. Dave was by far the biggest contributor over there. On several occasions he has donated expensive watches for RG to raffle off, so I find it very strange that they would ban him. Kind of like us banning Lani, just doesn't seem right. I thought Dave was on vacation or something when I noticed he wasn't posting.
  13. Not an issue at all. Pusher is just a little tight, but there is no reason for it to spin anyway.
  14. No problems installing a gen dial, straight swap. I believe you have to use the rep insert however. If I were going to do the dial, I'd do the datewheel as well, as I think that is a bigger tell than the dial. Might be an idea to buy a cheap black skyland (v3 would be best) and swap the hands and movement. That would solve the short hand issue, datewheel, and 28k upgrade in one shot. You could sell the 21k Skyland at a respectable price, so the mod would be relatively cheap.
  15. Didn't think it would happen, but it did. Should make the season even more interesting
  16. Sounds like you've really had a rough go of it mate, but I really had no doubt that you would battle your way through it. I mean it when I say that your presence and spirit were greatly missed while you've been away and that the thoughts of the entire membership have been with you. Welcome home brother, glad to have you back! A
  17. Oh how times have changed. I've been a mac user since the mid 80s and have never used a PC in my life. I always promoted macs and was always criticized for it. A thread like this would have been a flamefest a half decade ago. In some ways its nice to see that Macs are more accepted, although I really miss that "exclusive" feeling that I had way back then.
  18. @ Hackr The rep has a dial that is consistent with the earlier gens, where the 8 & 4 were a little lower and the 10 & 2 were a little higher. Breitling altered the dial at some point and you can see that a lot more of the top of the 8 is cut off. The rep dial is fairly accurate though. You are correct that the V2 pearl is terrible. I pulled mine out and manufactured a more accurate one
  19. Congrats! Nice to see that RWG is continuing to grow.
  20. You would think that Omega would want to keep their branding consistent. I've always found it odd how much variation they have in their trademarked symbol.
  21. Yeah, doubt we'll see this one as the split timing superquartz is not an easy movement to rep. One interesting detail on this watch is that the pushers are magnetic, and they activate the chrono through the case. Thus, it can be used in depths up to 1000 meters, and there will never be leakage via the pushers.
  22. I use the chronos all the time on my 7750 watches and have found that if you only reset with the second hand between 10 & 2, you will never have a problem. There is a lot of centrifugal force exerted on that hand, and the joint between the hand and the tube is not that strong, so it often slips. The only real solution is to remove the hand and put a bit of epoxy around the joint between the hand and the tube. Re-set the hand and you wont have any more problems.
  23. There was a guy on RG that made it fit using a CNC, but he admitted it wasn't worth the effort.
  24. Looks real nice, thanks T
