  1. Its a combination of all the above. The only automatic chrono movement we have for our reps is the A7750 which has subdials at 6-9-12 with running seconds at 9 and date at 3. They have managed to mimic other valjoux 775X movements by doing such things as moving the minute totalizer to the 3:00 position to mimic the 7753, and moving the running seconds to the 3:00 or 6:00 position for other applications. The Skyracer would require the seconds to be moved to the 3:00 position and the hour and minute totalizers to be combined and moved to the 9:00 position. All the extra gears to do this would still have to allow room for the datwheel at the 6:00 position. Just too radical of a bastardization IMO.
  2. Not a Pam. Not sure what it is. I'm not sold on Charlie's being a YM either. Also, I noticed on the most recent episode, that Charlie was wearing something different as well. BTW, what ever happened to the gold Rolex that Alan received as a gift for bedding down that old widow last season?
  3. Also, to state the obvious, you are not trying to set the date while the time is between 10p.m. and 2a.m. are you?
  4. Movements are made to very tight specifications. As PVD is a coating, it would alter the dimensions of each coated piece, rendering it useless. Unless each piece was constructed with an allowance for the thickness of the PVD... but the short answer is no.
  5. Nope, and you are not likely to either. The movement is just too complicated to be replicated correctly. Beautiful watch though.
  6. Why not just tell the truth and say "some are reps, some are gens" and leave it at that.
  7. I'd say the answer is "football" these days. Leafs look like they are going to be an exciting young team this year, the Argos on the other hand are looking like they should be playing hockey
  8. For all you RWI oldtimers, Tim has returned with an explanation of his sudden disappearance over a year ago. I hope everyone will take the time to wish him well. He is truly a gentleman, not to mention one of the true founders of the forums that we know today. From Tim... For all his friends, please wish him well here... http://replica-watch.info/phpBB3/viewtopic...p;sk=t&sd=a
  9. Interesting read Zig, and welcome back mate!
  10. Yep, thats what I thought. It would be nearly impossible to scratch a sapphire crystal to that extent. And yes, we'd love to see more pics!
  11. Nice, but are you sure there is no scratch on the crystal? Same line in all three pics.
  12. You always buy the reps I'm shopping for Pug. Now crack that thing open and reset the 6:00 subdial hand
  13. You really don't need to remove the bezel. The pearl cup is just glued in to an indent in the bezel and can easily pried out with a small screwdriver. Making the pearl is simple enough once you have found a piece of material to use. Mine was originally a stainless steel alan key plug. I ground it down to the proper diameter, drilled the center hole, then shaped the top. Once done, I cut it to the right height and glued it in place. Finish with lume and an epoxy cover (I'm keeping my eye open for a proper sized crystal). For this project SS works nicely, and once brushed, cant be distinguished from the titanium.
  14. I think that people should always post pics of modifications. I also think that members should be honest in their appraisals of the work done. Although I was never a big fan of RBJ, he always posted pics of his work, and I don't think there is a better way to tell what is good and what isn't. Here is a Planet Ocean, relumed by The Zigmeister. As you can see the lume appears to be applied correctly, and there is no dust, scratches, or marks to be found. 100% satisification!
  15. Sorry no pic. Its just a regular black Skyland with an NHLPA logo beside the datewheel where the wings and text would normally go. They used to do an NHLPA Super Avenger, but they seem to have opted for the Skyland. BTW, thats National Hockey League Players Association for those that don't know.
  16. Well, there were only 2000 BS Skylands, and Eaton Center has had at least two of them. I'll keep my eyes peeled.
  17. I'm there every day Dave, you will be the first to know when one comes in!
  18. Thats funny, I had that very Blacksteel on my wrist at about 12:30. Nice, but much too similar to my Chrono Avenger on rubber. I agree, the store is not very well done. Too much floor space, not enough watches. Breitling has about half the store (okay by me) and Nardin has about a quarter, but with very few watches. No Porsche watches, like they used to have either. Hopefully they'll be getting more stuff soon. BTW what did you think of the special edition NHLPA Skyland?
  19. Welcome aboard! Where in Canada are you from?
  20. I don't have a rep Breit strap, (I have gen calf & rubber) but I have been paying close attention to what people have said about them. After listening to many many comments I can tell you that the rep calf is very good and the rep croc is very disappointing.
  21. @ Stephane - Unlike having issues with a dealer, where fault requires all the evidence to make a clear decision, what a modder does is easily judged with a picture. I'd never suggest holding back info, especially if you have attempted to resolve a situation with the modder.
  22. Wondering how the OP knew about the accusations against Josh from a few months back when he only joined yesterday?
  23. I believe that was because Chief didn't offer de-casing and crystal removal/installation until recently. If you couldn't do it yourself, Jakub was an easier option.
  24. Funny enough triplehd, I see a lot of the blame going to people like ourselves who do not speak up when there is some kind of dispute. When a member does speak up about a dispute with a dealer or modder, it is funny how absent the senior members are from the conversation. The complainant usually ends up taking abuse and there is no one to stand up for him. I will at least try and offer a cool head, and a "lets get the facts together" before anybody is crucified, but I wish there were more of us willing to do it.
  25. Well, TWP and LWA actually started as dealers.
