  1. All three are great reps. If you like the Super Avenger I'd stay away from the DLC version and get it in Stainless Steel. DLC watches will scratch and wear over time and there is nothing you can do to refinish the, where the stainless steel model can always be re-polished. Plenty of SS modeles on Andrew's site... http://www.trustytime.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=16_137&products_id=5743
  2. That would be the obvious answer. The gen dial is about 1mm too big and needs to be shaved to fit.
  3. Post pics Red. Are you sure all the pieces are from the original watch? Its not a gen dial is it?
  4. Your video really doesn't show much. If you tilt the watch does the rotor always drop to the lowest point or does it not move? There is a slight bit of resistance in the rotor, but shouldn't be enough to stop it from defying gravity. Also, is the rotor rubbing against anything?
  5. Have you tried using your tracking number on the USPS site?
  6. Problem he will likely face on a $30 rep is that the rotor is not screwed on. They are sometimes press fit on and almost impossible to get off.
  7. Id take it a step at a time. Open it up and see if the rotor spins freely without the caseback on. Next step depends on the result.
  8. Forget about oiling, you have a 0% chance at succeeding with that plan. You need to completely disassemble the watch in order to oil it, and the oil has to be the proper type and the proper amount. When you look at a watch movement you will see a bunch of pink jewels. The oil generally goes underneath the jewel, so each jewel needs to be removed, cleaned, then oiled and replaced. Too much oil will stop the movement. Too thick oil will stop the movement. Not enough oil wil stop the movement. You get the idea right? What I would do is to hand wind the watch with about 30 slow turns of the crown. Set the watch face up and note what the power reserve is when it stops. If you get a sufficient power reserve, then you can look the rotor being obstructed and not being able to turn fully. Or you could just continue to manually wind as described above.
  9. Black ones are still widely available. Its the white dial that is in short supply.
  10. Saw a post on RG earlier this week and apparently Mary can still get these. They are getting rare but are still not impossible to find.
  11. Agreed, the watch is pretty much junk. If you still like it, do a tiny bit of research and learn how to take it apart. Its very simple with those watches. Re-glue the hour marker, then find a leather strap for it.
  12. Not much you can do to that model. You could have it relumed if you like!
  13. Problem with the Super Avengers is that you can put a gen dial and Bezel on them and you wouldn't know the difference without opening them up. From what I can see, that watch appears to be genuine, but I would ask for a movement shot to be safe. Also, in your pictures the watch does not appear to be running. Have him take a couple of pics with it running so you can be sure. As for price, I have no idea what kind of value it has. Pictures are terrible so its hard to tell the condition. Does he have box and papers?
  14. Navitimer. Not the most accurate, but by far still the best looking Breitling out there.
  15. Give your head a shake, you can't service it yourself. Requires years of experience and lots of specialized equipment to service a 7750.
  16. Really guys? Anyone that thinks this is a rep doesn't have a clue. Its 100% genuine.
  17. I have about a half dozen 7750s, ranging from 1 year to 7 years old. I used to wind all of them every day. I did that for years, without a problem. After being informed that its not really a good idea to manually wind any automatic movement, I stopped. If you do need to wind it, do it very slowly, and only about 30 turns. I have found that hacking my watches is much easier. When ! put it on, I set the date and time and I'm good to go, and always with a full power reserve.
  18. Easiest tell for me has always been the top of the rider tabs. On the gen the top face has an arc to them while the rep is pretty much flat.
  19. Great blog Hike! Where are you getting your internet connection?
  20. Wish they would rep one of these vintage Navis. An AOPA version would be very nice and there would be no datewheel issue. Is the 806 automatic or manual wind?
  21. Nickel is a common problem for some people, and stainless steel has a high nickel content.
