While I appreciate the attention to detail that Rob put into this watch, it is my least favorite Pam. The polished case, bezel, and CG is over the top. Seems out of place on a sub.
I prefer the 25, Arktos, La Bomba, or 243.
-
That's a keeper for sure.
-
Tremendous. Maybe a bit too much of the same general watch, but each one is super. I prefer the Pam 1 over the others. Any time you can get a quality rep with a closed caseback you've got a leg up on the rest. The tritium lume on the 1 looks super.

Kostas,
I love the 1954. I found one but the seller was located in Singapore and didn't want to ship overseas. I would have kept all my 26mm straps if he would have sold it to me. Who did you get your unbranded 1938 from?
-
Nice pickup Kostas. I've been on the fence about that watch for a long time. I actually considered picking up one of these.

I think I have a strap that would suit your needs (the dark brown Bob buffalo)

Trade for a nice 24/24???

Rob,
I hope is wasn't my super dodgy 187 that sent you over the edge. I might have called it quits too if I had to deal with me and my watch!
On another note, I too am going to step away from "Repdom". You'll be seeing a fire sale starting tonight. Not too much, but enough to keep some folks happy. I've spent way too much time here over the past three plus years. Many good times, good friends, and interesting banter.
Rob----thank you for your contribution to my cursory understanding of watches. But reading your posts and some of the others here, I feel like I can talk shop with most WIS, from the rep and "real" world.
Peace!
I'm sure Kruzer will be missing you the most!

That's what Sssurfer was asking, I'm sure.
Good to know.
BTW, I know the 036 is to die for, but that La Bomba, 187, looks marvellous. Especially given you have a masculine outline, shall we say!
The sub is not a La Bomba or a 187. It's an 064. 44m, not 47mm.

i have the 'accordion' style PAM silicone sub strap and it is the most comfortable strap i own. however, i have the same problems you describe when i wear a new leather strap -- particularly with a heavy watch body. consequently with the exception of the pam strap, i usually stick with bracelets. annoying isn't it.
I agree. Very comfortable strap.
I've never had a problem with rubber/silicone straps.

Great watches you have there.

That's easy. My 187. Worked well for a while and then the chrono pushers stopped working. Sent to The Zigmeister for relumed dial and service. Found out that the movement was toast. It's being sent back to me DOA. Done with Asian 7750 CHRONO watchs. I've had two Asian 7750s that were great in non-chronos.
Anyone want a donor 187 for parts (including relumed hands and bezel pearl)?

I'll throw my serial number guess out there---------------------
1221
I love palindromes

Rob has now achieved the level of "enlightened one" in terms of watch dharma.
Did I get tritium lume on my 187?
I may just have to go out and get myself one more sausage dialed pam just so I can get the The Zigmeister spa treatment.
Awesome post. There is a HUGE difference between what happens in The Zigmeister's "office" and elsewhere.

after making yesterday a change (was wearing the IWC St.Exupery RG) today I got back to my Corum Admiral's Cup Competition...
I simply cannot believe that for the past 7-10 days I haven't been wearing any PAM, and belive me I have a great collection of them (Fully modded 127-217-111...029 2893, 027 2892-A2, 187, 222)...something strange is happening after the arrival of the Corum...
The more I see this watch, the more I like it. 48mm of AR glory must be the attraction. Still don't think it would replace my Pam affliction like you Dog.

Watchboys and MF are great. Check out Don's thinner straps as well (good deals)
-
40 going on 20. 40 is the new 20 anyways.
-
Thanks for the nice review. Makes me feel even better about my watch. The biggest flaws I see are the lume and the finish on the front screws. The screws are too shiny on the rep. I love the rep. Wore it yesterday. I like the rubber strap (have the velcro too).
My hand sweeps very nice.
Here's mine. Should have cleaned the watch before taking the picture.

Yellow. It's the most refined and fits well with the complexity of the Daylight.
-
I prefer the blue stitch model. Yellow is pretty in your face. Works better with the 008. Not so good with the 112.
Kostas, your workmanship is top notch.
-
What a headache for you Rob. I'm going to think twice about monkeying around with this watch. I'm wearing it as I type (white marker/PVD)

My Bloody Valentine at The Barrowlands ...
I was recently lucky enough to be backstage at a Pixies gig in Paris and a The Cure one in London.
The Pixies and The Cure are both pretty special acts! Lucky guy Pug!

You've seen some good shows! I missed MMJ, they played a small club and I didn't go... bummer. Would like to see them. Wilco is always a great show as are the Lips!
I've met a fair amount of artists and partied with a few, and I definately do not get out as much as I used to. And hearing protection is always a must now. Gotta save what hearing I have left!
I don't alway remember to bring plugs. I regret it when I get home and my ears are ringing. I already have an excuse for not "listening" to my wife
MMJ is a MUST see. Best live act period. Saw them at Lollapalooza this year with the Chicago Youth Symphony. Sixth time in four years.

I am a huge concert goer and have been for 25 years. I don't know if my list is quite this long (I have gone to Bonnaroo twice and Lollapalooza once, so my list is pretty long).
Claims to fame:
Saw The Grateful Dead 40 time)
Saw Stevie Ray Vaughn at his last performance before dying in a helicopter crash
Saw the following acts backstage-Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, The Flaming Lips, Sonic Youth, Yes)
I've probably been to 250 concerts over the past 25 years.
Current favorite acts to see live:
My Morning Jacket (by a wide margin)
WILCO
The Decemberists
Ryan Adams (if he's in a good mood)
The Flaming Lips
Tours I'm looking forward to in 2008
My Morning Jacket, Lenny Kravitz, and Jack Johnson
Au revoir, Auf Wiedersehen, Arrivederci, Ciao, Sayonara, Shalom, Namast

I just wanted to say thank you and pass on some kind words to the members of this forum.
I have enjoyed the three plus years I have spent here. I've learned a lot, had far too many watches pass through my hands, and even more straps. I bet I've spent 2000 hours minimum over the past three years browsing, typing, reading, oogling here. It's a good place!
There are a lot of good folks here.
The ones who have brought me the most enjoyment for a variety of reasons are the following:
Kruzer (Warren)-for your passion of all things watches and modding.
The Zigmeister (Rob)-ditto
V (Kostas)-for all things strap related
Rocket-for pictures of your significant other
Darthsimon-where are you?-Started my rep fancy
Star (Timm)-for hooking me up. I'll never part with your watch. Promise!
TTK (Neil)-for your never ending zings and beautiful pictures. You could make a turd look, and probably smell good.
The Mods-For keeping it real (or should I say rep)
I've left off quite a few people, but I think you get the idea.
I'll poke my head in once in a while, but I'm done with reps, except for my watch from Star. Nothing bad about reps, I'm just bored and am moving on to other things.
Feel free to keep in touch!
Some parting shots:
