  1. Hey Hun,

Cases are Phong's forte. However dials, inserts, etc aren't. I would recommend sourcing other parts separately, finding a donor movement from a 1500 Rolex date, and putting everything together from there (or sending it to an RWG approved watch smith to assemble). It will take longer to source everything, but you will be MUCH happier when it's all together as you'll likely have more gen parts, better aftermarket parts (accuracy-wise), and a story behind your franken

    Good luck!

Ok, so i should start with a 1665 phong case and go for gen parts?

I have read that the phong case have some small problems with to fat cgs?

    Thanks.

  2. Hello guys.

Im going to do a complete drsd build from phong with original 1570 movement.

I was woundering If anyone have done a complete 1665 drsd build from phong before?

How good is the dial? Case? Insert? bracelet? etc?

Is it worth the money? Spending so much on phongs kit?

    Thanks.

  3. Bud, shouldn't you have ARed crystal?

Michal had only crystal without ar when it was built. So he installed a crystal with LEC only.

I know that rehaut engravings are missing. Sean case are without engravings.

I will maybe swap to an JF case or noob if they come out with an ym blue version.

  4. I would normally agree to stay away from phong's dials (cases are great) but I had a look at his red dials and 2/3 are actually quite good, the third is horrid and doesn't match with any known gen examples. Make sure you are getting one of the two good ones.

Edit the two comparo's are both gen top phong bottom

Ok, thanks for Good info :) any other Good 1680 dials you know of?

  5. Phong has good cases (that will still need modding), but that's about it!

I'd suggest getting Michael Young 1680 hands if you're going to go aftermarket.

It's tough to find an accurate gen-feet placement red dial. To me they just don't exist.

I believe Misiekped has a 1570 date disc for sale in the parts section that is appropriate for your build :)

Thanks. What modding on the case is required?

Michael Young? Who is that and where can i find hands?

  6. Hi. Im want to do a vintage build, so i want to buld a 1680 from phong.

    Parts from phong:

    1680 Complete case.

    1680 Red dial.

    1680 Hands.

All aged to get the vintage look.

    Gen Rolex 1570 movement.

What date disc do you recommend? And where can i buy?

Buy a gen Bracelet or rep? Or go with Nato?
