  1. CousinsUK has the 24-7030.0 with 5.2 and 6.2 mm length. I would guess that the 5.2 is what you need... Dee
  2. They are quite useful as door stoppers! If you cover them with a thin layer of lead no burglar will ever care Dee
  3. It's according to industry standards. 200 m / 660 ft is the tested pressure to be passed for a watch suitable for "diving". And remember, not every diver just goes down to 20 m. I know some "normal" recreational divers reaching 100 m, well I'm keeping myself at 60 Dee

    34mm Reps

There are some better matching reps of the 6694 but I always wondered why the people would pay 200 for a rep if the gen is at 800 if lucky... If you like the 15000 I could propose a frankening... Take case, caseback, crystal and blue dial as gen parts. Look for a suitable movement and hands and you have a watch which without opening is indistiguishable from the gen! Dee
  5. I'm quite a noob, but there is a reason why they are also named the "twins"... Dee
  6. Yepp, that will be the hunt for a fitting one. But as Iearned yesterday when exchanging the crystal of by DD-rep the gasket is the thing to fit! The crystal on the DD was to gen specs but the gasket wasn't... Dee
  7. Having worn a gen SD over years and now typing this wearing the new one... My gen had no rest of paint when I bought it and I never wanted to place any paint to change this. The bracelet on the rep is like on a gen which has been worn for like 3-5 years, so nothing to worry about! After having replaced the broken tube today, next to replace on mine is the crystal with a lower profile one and the insert with a gen. Dee
  8. If you want to be really close to gen, take the black dial version, which comes quite good out of the box. Go for the asian ETA which has the correct sweep and then replace the crystal with one not having the etched crown... Dee
  9. I picked a gen YG Day-Date in f*cked up condition and got it restored by my watchmaker. The photos were so bad that the price was really low and when I sold it I made >60% profit. Dee
  10. Oh, then pirate radio took long to jump over from Germany. My father had a pirate radio station in the late 50s - luckily the detecting technology wasn't as good at that time so they went after him but never got him... Now, as I'm retiring, I might take another hobby like internet-pirate-radio. Oh, wait... That's nothing pirate... Dee
  11. The gen laser etched coronet is not as visible as on the reps. You can spot them on a rep if sitting next to the one wearing while on the gen you need side lighting and a loupe Dee
  12. Smooth bezel reps are already available as China was a little ahead of the Rolex design department Dee
  13. As the T-dial with luminova is the rarer version I always would go for this! Dee
  14. The etched coronet in the crystal... Look out for a non-etched crystal which fits... Dee
  15. I wouldn't be sure that it is related to water. In my DayDate I found a lot of little "bubbles" of which I think they are little glass balls used for media blasting and may have come into the case due to the poor cleaning of parts. You can spot them on this photo, mainly on the caseback: Dee
  16. The trick to get "gen looking" relume then is just to use more base material and less lume Dee
  17. There is the possibility to externally take insurance. The company is named ParcelPro and specialised on watches and jewellery. The only thing is that you are limited to some parcel services like FedEx, DHL, ... Dee
  18. Nope. The laser etched crown was introduced in 2000, starting in updated models like the 114270 and 14060M, others got them later like the 16600 and 16610 in 2003. Dee
  19. I might come with my motorhome as it's really a lot to see and you can't get only the most interesting things within one day... Last years I was accredited press what made it easy to take nice pictures Dee
  20. A hommage never uses the original logo or trademarked names! Dee
  21. Great work! Personally I would change back to the domed plexi... Dee
  22. Just a hairline crack in the gasket is enough to let in some moisture... Dee
  23. Well, an unmarked watch with a nice story linked to Rolex. This might or might not be a watch with a Rolex movement, as some of them really weren't marked. But there should be a marking under the dial identifying the movement as Rebberg if it would be Rolex marketed as a lot of the Rolex movements were bought from Rebberg. If I have it in mind correctly my oldest gen is from 1924 and there the movements were marked and also dial marking has started but this wasn't used widely until end of the 30s. Dee
  24. The replacement cases are not of current production. As with all spares, they are from the original production run - just not engraved - and when they used all, it's over. Dee
