  1. True, a gen crown would be a great improvement. For the strap, I'd say I'm puzzeled: yes the weight is a major problem, but so is the poor quality of the engravings between the lugs that will show once the metal band removed. The rep dilemma !!
  2. THANKS !!!! I love the 60's, sense of style was there !!!! We need a touch of class in the 2010's....
  3. You can see my post on the sales topic :
  4. Hi DG, Yes, it's correct and it is VERY nice!!! Case is a bit too large I'd say, but aside from that it looks great, really ! How are the clasp and the head hallmarks? That is usually the weakness of these reps. Enjoy it.
  5. I have recently put up for sale a genuine Precision Explorer case, and I am amazed to see how unknown this watch is. Underappreciated, that what it is, and only because it is 2mm smaller than her famous sisters. But the Precision Explorer is also dramatically cheaper !!! So for a 2 millimeter difference people won't go for this one, when it is the best value you can get - if you want to go all gen - for a 60's or 70's sports Rolex priced below 2.000 euros. I have a 19 cm wrist, and I wanted to share how I wear it. I took some pics beside a small selection of other Rolex watches I have to show there isn't much difference actually. And I also took some wrist shots of course... Note that I am also a Panerai enthusiast, and that I wear well extra large watches... I'd say the Precision Explorer is somewhere between the reverso and the modern Rolex: the slightly smaller size confers it a very elegant aspect that I appreciate very much for it to be different from what the mass wants today ! Hope that small topic can awaken some interest for that god forsaken Rolex. Cheers !!!
  6. if you need a gen 5500 full case set (with 5500 back case - 1002 backcase is for the airking, few people know that) I have a 1962 one I'll put up for sale soon.... Good luck with your project!!
  7. 8. Hi Vindicator, I'll post a neat one for sale soon, Watch out the sales topic!
  9. Nothing to add on rogerthat comments..... I'd go for it personally. Enjoy it, it's a very accurate rep!!!
  10. <p>Definitly not when it comes to the case and dial, but the use of the basic A7750 made them lower the crown and the pusher to accomodate the extra gears. if they use the correct movement%2
  11. Definitly not when it comes to the case and dial, but the use of the basic A7750 made them lower the crown and the pushers to accommodate the extra gears. if they use the correct movement the watch could really be perfect! As for the one on the pictures attached, as I said, it's not a good rep. Only I've never seen that movement... That's why I figured it might be of some interest to post it. I really wonder what movement that is.... It looks interesting and it could be used in other reps with a few mods to the bridges. I'm thinking of Patek auto chronos.....
  12. Nice built! Did you get a rolex-cortebert to power it? Is the caseback stamped? Those are the hard parts.... Good luck in finishing it right!
  13. Hi everyone, has anyone seen what PT has put online yesterday? It seems there's a new maker in the game: different dial, hands, case and movement... I doubt our usual makers would father this. Have anyone seen that calibre before? It looks like it was manufactured by seagull since the finish is really similar to the ST19... It's a rather inaccurate copy compared to the fine 7750 powered 288 that was released in 2010, but the uncommon movement got my attention. Any thoughts?
  14. Oh, you were talking of the scratch on the bezel? I focused on the dial... Yes, I agree there is one. But well, on a mirror polised surface mabye could you be indulgent...
  15. For the misalignent I don't see any, and for the the scratch I think it's just a greasy fingerprint on the crystal. Plus, since there is no previous scary tales of lousy H 380s I'd personally go for it.
  16. Hi everyone, I usually am not the type to ask anyone to help fixing my problems, but this time I might need a hand to close a deal that's been dragged for too long. I live in China for a decade and I have ordered from a large quantity of dealers in the past, in person or on the web, and none has put me in the situation Pure Time is putting me right now. I placed and paid an order for 5 items on March 6: the N PAM 243, the hq 1655, two Rolex bracelets and a Panerai tool. All items beeing properly described with pictures and webpages attached to avoid any misunderstanding. After accepting the paiment, the staff said the 1655 was out of production and asked me to choose an other watch -without proposing to refund the said item-. I chose the 1680 red that looks quite nice right away to get the deal going. After long waiting, QC pics of the 1680 came, followed by the PAM 243 and its tool, and finally the Rolex bracelets. Watches were as expected, but bracelets were complely different than what I specifically ordered: I requested the two only nice and rather accurate vintage style bracelets made which are the new folded oyster and the stretch type rivet bracelet. They sent me unclear pics of a BAD folded type and a fake rivet type (those with a rivet design patched on a solid construction). Of course I refused those and asked for what I clearely ordered. Then came other pics showing the correct folded type and again the lousy rivet. Once again I had to refuse the rivet type and that time PT said the bracelet I ordered was out of stock. Therefore, once again I had to choose an other item. I chose the bracelet fitted on the new version of the 16600. Now, after almost two month waiting and about 30 mails re-explaining what I originally paid for I am loosing patience. Never such thing happened with Trusty or King !!!! How can it take so much time to ask the factory "do you have A or B? In China you send a messenger and get your stuff right away, so what?! They are busy?? We all are here, it is not an acceptable excuse in China. I just wish a little more consideration for my business. I really feel I am treated like [censored] when I am actually a customer. I hope a moderator can help me on this and push them to finally ship my order. Thank you very much for taking the time to read my complaint.
  17. Right, you never know untill you try. I don't really believe it would work since they are made with different tooling, but I have to clear this question out of my mind... I'll do that in a few month and make a post if it turns out interesting enough. Those new chinese bridges are really nice. Nice enough to be convincing if it was fitted on the proper plate. For sure the threadings won't fit so I don't think using the ST screws on the ETA plate would work, but to blue the ETA screws won't be an issue. It's the bridges feet position and size I worry about. Experience will tell! Cheers and thanks for sharing your experience!
  18. OK, well, it seems I'll be the first one to experiment that then. I'll let you know how it turns out if you're interested...
  19. Then you have to remove the hands and the dial to reach the plate that got off. How to dismantle a 6497: www.horlogerie-suisse.com/Theoriehorlogerie/disassembling-mechanical-watch.html Take the opportunity to clean it and oil it as well if you want your watch to last a few years...
  20. Hi everyone. I'm sure someone must have tried to "Panerize" a standard ETA using Noob's ST 36 well made bridges. Any issues doing that if ever it's possible? Thanks for the feedbacks !
  21. Hi mate, do you want to know if they all have a grooves? I believe yes. In my experince the very good reps - good enough to be mistaken for the gen if it wasn't for the higher bezel and the lousy clasp - there are 8 groves, while the gen dial has 10. The grey color is metal, not paint. In most pictures you really can't see them, it really depends on the light. Hope that helps.
  22. Hi everyone, I'm beeing offered that 1019 rep from watch-international. Has anyone seen it before? I must say I've seldom seen such a good dial job. But well, they won't give pics showing the side, the rear or the inside... So that puzzles me. Face looks great, but what if the rest is trash. Not so exciting anymore, right? So here's the question: has anyone bought that rep from them recently? Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
