  1. Quick background, I have always tried to find the most accurate reps available and have even gone so far as buying a gen when a good rep was not available I have wanted a dual crown diver for some time so when I saw Toro post about the new Vintage Aquatimer I wasted no time in contacting him to order one. Yes, I know the date wheel has the wrong font and there are concerns about the AR, but I decided to take the plunge anyways. I finally received my QC pics and was ready to approve them when I realized that the text on the inner bezel was more of a cream color than white. I contacted Toro to ask if it was just the lighting or did all his sample have cream. He send me some pics from another sample (also cream) but also of another new version in blue. I fairly sure the blue is a fantasy version as all my internet search failed to turn up any Vintage AT's with a blue dial and strap. There are photos on the web of the white gold version with gray dial where the AR makes the gray dial appear blue, but that is just an illusion.

So now here is my issue, the black model is more accurate to the gen, but I think the blue looks better.

So please give your thoughts so I can tell Toro which one to send ASAP and hopefully not regret my color choice.

Thanks in advance for your help.

  2. In addition to mine saying released from customs and then handed over to customs, there was a small note in a yellow box above the tracking info that said "Your item was handed over to Customs(GUANGZHOU)". The yellow box I had not seen before.

  3. Does anyone know a source to purchase A7750 movements? Mine's got problems and watchmakers can't get parts In Bangkok or SE Asia would be great!
Try the m2m sales threads first. If no luck, you could get one on eBay or one of the watch part supply houses. The real name for the movement is the Shanghaï 3LZF-2. This will run you about $135 to $150 plus shipping. The cheapest way I found is to buy one of the specials from a TD with a a7750 movement. You can usually get an entire watch for about the price of the movement alone. If you want to reduce the cost further, sell off the extra watch parts on the forum. Guys are always looking for different parts. Btw, what watch is the movement for?
  4. Anyone ever have a watch snatched in GZ? EMS tracking shows the watch released from customs then 23 mins later it shows handed over to customs. Memo at the top says "you item was handed over to customs". No change in status for 5 days.

I've never seen this happen before as most customs issues/delays happen in the destination country. Anyone else every experience this?

  5. Here is a pic of the gen and the new improved dial. You tell me if you think they are in the same position.

As for ordering the extra parts, either TD should be able to get the parts. I like dealing with both Toro and Angus, but got mine from Toro.

Supposedly Noob will be discontinuing this watch once they sell the remaining stock of cases. You may want to check with both TD's to see if they can still get the model you want. Might make the decision for you. ;)

  6. As a relatively new owner of a Noob 292j I will take a stab at answering some of your questions. The K had known issues with the lug bars coming loose. If I am not mistaken, that was due to the wrong adhesive being used. Supposedly that was subsequently fixed. As for the current offering, the HF 292 has a a pvd crown and there are different opinions on whether this is correct, while the Noob N and J both have ceramic. The HF J has a better pressed torpedo and some say a better textured dial, but the Noob models have the correct color Creme text on the dial while the HF text is white. As for the placement of "Panerai" on the Noob N, I still think it looks too low. As for the color of the lug bars, I haven't had mine long enough to know yet. I don't really plan on changing the strap that often as I put it on an OEM strap, but I would suggest you do as I did, which to to by a full set of extra lug bars and screws. Then if you have an issue later, you will already have the parts to fix the problem. There are quite a few threads about this across the 4 major forums and in the end I chose the Noob. One of the most helpful threads I found was the side-by-side comparison by Toro. Here is the link: http://www.rwg.bz/board/index.php?showtopic=32286
