  1. Hey all,

Just received my first ever PAM from Andrew.

Was ordered in haste as the watch I really wanted was not in stock at any of the factories. I never thought I would like the PAM in the flesh and was going to give it away as a present.

    Well that's not happening anymore....

Excuse the pics, I am out at the beach house and only brought my iphone with me and having trouble uploading

  2. Do not blame you at all for not taking paid jobs, I am the same with work out of hours.

Was going to try my luck at local watchsmiths but was hoping I could support someone known to rwg and it's crew. I am a hands on guy and with research and practice I am sure I could pick my way through a re-build. Just lacking time due to work commitments .

I am based in Auckland, how about you?

    Cheers,

    Al

  3. So due to No trip to Asia this past year I decided to try ordering up off a few of the TD's here. Just to get the lay of the land.

Started with a cheap quartz from three dealers, now I have my TD of choice I have ordered a couple of slightly more expensive (if there is such a thing) reps.

Turns out I really like one of my recent reps and thinking about it I would be disappointed if it stopped working. So now I am thinking per emptive servicing is not a bad idea.

Have any of the kiwis here had their watch serviced? Recommendations greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

    Al

  4. Hey all,

Sorry of this is not new to anyone but I am sitting here at my desk and in my technicians workshop I have just seen one of my staff cleaning up delicate electrical components. When use a product called "Chemz Contact Clean".

This is an inert solvent which is safe to use on most plastics, quick penetrating and rapid evaporation.

I received my BO1 at work the other day and have not even cracked the protective wrapper as yet.

So I just unwrapped the bracelet, and she is a rep bracelet through and through, nice workmanship don't get me wrong, just stiff and full of production crud.

Sprayed this product thoroughly over the bracelet and left to do its job for about a minute.

All evaporated and black oily residue on bench top has dripped out with no work on my part.

Round two. Sprayed bracelet again and this time have worked the links. Repeat.

Result is bits of metal filings all over my hands and bench. fingers tips now black, bench covered in black residue. But one very very smooth bracelet!

Sorry for the lack of pics, am at work and don't really have time to even be posting this.... Hmm how can I make a job out of reps......

    Cheers,

    Al

  5. Well after much research and digging around this site I ordered my first rep from the internet.

I have a collection I have picked up in my frequent travels to China. But as I am not scheduled to go back there for another year or so I had to get my fix. I have never had a Breitling Rep so decided to try my luck.

After lots of surfing I chose Andrew at Trusty Time so now I lay the waiting game.

First impressions, Good communication, Two automatically generated replies informing me of payment acceptance and order processing.

    Tick.

    Cant wait!

  6. Hi there all,

I just thought I would drop a line to say thanks to all the contributors out there. The information contained here is very helpful and I have been hooked with reading and taking it all in since I joined.

I stumbled across this site almost by accident and I have to say that I am very happy I did. I have always had an interest in watches and its brilliant to see so many others out there who tinker and modify their collections.

I see a few postings from Kiwis and was wondering how many of us there are on here? I am interested in importing and am hoping that other kiwis out there do and dont come across many problems.

Anyway, Thanks for the info out there and look forward to new ideas and of course growing my collection!I am a complete noob to reps but am hooked!

    Cheers,

    Al
