  1. did you get it back? I haven't had a chance to email you...
  2. slai...they are not black that is fo' sho' for thirty bucks you should get them, and next year when your 111 comes back from service you can put them on. =)
  3. base is best, less to go wrong (second hand won't fall off)
  4. my pvd has the same issue uncle Jay. it just looks like it was cnc'd poorly. i was going to complain but it is futile. dsn is an [censored].
  5. do some research on DSN first. you may or may not be very dissapointed.
  6. well kudos to you Uncle Jay. you are seriously taking it better than I ever would. i hope it works out for you.
  7. maybe a boycott of DSN is in order for a bit. that might smarten him up. I had nothing but issues with my Zero that I got from him, and the replacement was worse.
  8. Uncle Jay... Splitting is [censored]. That [censored] DSN should cover you 100% He should be put on probation on every rep site till his quality control gets better. it isn't even my money and I am [censored] off... Don't settle for splitting. Make him send you two more watches or something. You have my email address, email me when you have a second... Pete
  9. DSN's product has the potential to be the best. I think he has gotten too big too fast thus the QC issues.
  10. I had a similar problem with an Asian 6497, and I just opened it up, released the crown and stem, put a little lube on it and put it back in and it worked. now i am not saying it will work for you, and if you attempt this undertaking I am not responsible for the outcome, unless the outcome is good =)
  11. So I had a crystal with some highly scratched A/R on it so I figured I would try to clean it off. step 1. I polished the crystal with BRASSO for about an hour. Started taking most of the A/R off. step 2. I took some pumice hand cleaner and really gave the crystal a hard core polishing with it. step 3. I gave it a final polis with BRASSO again. The A/R was completely removed and it looks beautiful.
  12. title corrected =)
  13. Hey all... Here is my latest project. I built a 202/A the other day, and was going to wait to post it after I changed out the crown guard, but since it is going to be a few more days till arrived I figured what the hell. (I will explain the crown guard issue in a bit) First the good stuff... Ingredients included a DSN PVD case, DSN dial, DSN hands, and a swiss 6497 movement from OFrei. The DSN was purchased from a mate. Not much more I can say about the good stuff, but there are a few issues. 1. PVD is uneven. It isn't a huge deal, and makes the case look vintage. The DSN non A/R sapphire is [censored]. I was cleaning the inside of the sapphire and it scratched like crazy. Typical really because my other DSN did the same. 2. The crown guard did not fit well, (my mate contacted DSN and another is on its way). I figured since I had a replacement Crown Guard coming I would re-work the old one. I filed down the corners, and then primered and painted them with a flat black paint that was colour matched. I then clear coated it with dullcote laquer and that changed the colour a bit. So, I will have to re do it. No biggie. Hopefully the replacement crownguard will just fit better. 3. This was my doing, but the movement had the second hand pin which I cut off. well I didn't get it right flush, and thus had to put an indent on the underside of the dial. used a drill bit and just worked it by hand. Well I guess it wasn't deep enough, and when I tightened the movement mounting clips it stopped the watch. I REALLY DID NOT want to take it apart again because the hands fit ever so nicely, so to make it work I had to back out the screws a tiny bit. This caused it to have a hair thickness gap between the case and dial, again not a big issue, but when you pull the crown to set the time it moves the movement and dial a teeny tiny bit. When the lever is locked in place though it is all very, very tight. There is no rattle though. The last little issue is that if you are examining the watch with a loupe and you have light shining right on the watch you can see a little speck of silver about the size of a period (.) showing through between the dial and case at the two marker and seven marker. 4. I had to cut the feet of the dial and mount with two way tape because the feet did not line up well on the dial and thus made the face look crooked. I may one day decide to open it back up and fix the second pin issue but for now I will wear it occasionally and enjoy it as is. Enjoy the pictures. The back drop is my hunting arms collection. Thought it would be fitting... This last picture is my other collection. It consists of a Sako Hunter deluxe in 375 H&H with a Ziess scope, takes down moose with no problems what so ever. Next is a Franchi Falconet from 1972, built before Beretta took over the company and ruined it. I hate Beretta for that. Both the Sako and Franchi line are horrible now that the big B owns them. They were better back in the day when they were independent. Number three is a Marocchi Contrast sporting clays gun. I had a custom stock built for it, and have but tens of thousands of rounds through it. Fantastic gun. The last one is a Marocchi Conquista, Trap gun. It is as good as any Perazzi.
  14. Zio... Sorry for the shitty news my friend. He wanted me to send it back I refused and he finally agreed to send me a replacement. the replacement arrived promptly, less than four days to Canada. When I went to pick it up there was a bill of $300 attatched to it. I figured he sent it COD, which is fine because he was making sure I would send back the original. Well it was duty and taxes, Canada border services assessed the value at 2K and taxed me on it, so I sent it back. He then had it sent to my mates house, and when I went to pick it up there was taxes and duties yet again assessed, this time roughly one hundred twenty five dollars. This time I paid the buck and a quarter and went home to find the crown grard screw holes were stripped, and the dial was scratched. He tried to blame the post office, border services, his great aunt matilda, whomever he could. In any case I emailed him that I would keep them both to make one good watch out of them since the hassle of the duties [censored] me off. I sent him a few bucks in the mail to cover the difference. I really hope it pans out for you. I will email you any other details you want to know.
  15. uncle jay, my replacement was worse than the first one. i hope things pan out for you.
  16. That's right Zio, you mentioned that in a previous post. Well ill be honest, the reason i was farting around is that I am expecting my case today, and will probably need the springbars for that...lol i was experimenting with foil to fill in the gap with an extra crown guard I have, and it may just work. will post pictures when it is done.
  17. So I was playing around tonight with my DSN case. His screws just spin and spin and spin in the case. Anyway, I compared the pin to a set I had from another standard case. well there is a lot more threaded area on the standard pins. when i put them in they actually grabbed, so i shortened them and filed them off and they worked. i think it isn't that the holes are stripped, but that the screws are short.
  18. Enzo, good to see you mate.
  19. i have to agree with kruzer. for parts he has great stuff. i have a case coming that i know the crown guard is going to look like [censored].
  20. you would think though, with all the issues and all the returns to him he would either take a break and bring things back to good, or look for new suppliers...
  21. I hope it works out with you Zio Jay. Ill keep you posted on my situation as well.
  22. morning everyone... I am a tax man...so I work for the Federales... (sometimes it feels like I get paid to be an @$$hole.) I really love my job.
  23. that is actually a pretty good looking watch. probably no different from any of the other stuff the other rep dealers sell. chances are you could put a dsn dial in it with a bit of modification. i put a dsn dial in a standard case case and just needed to file off a bit around the edges. me likey...
  24. I would be careful with that...reason being is that the swiss movements of late don't have the incabloc shock protection on the balance wheel, but the novodoc... and with saying that i am going to post a picture on a thread too to see...
  25. OK... I have a jimmy case and a dsn crystal. the teflon gasket is too thin and has some play. has anyone glued a crystal in place, and if so what have they used and does it work. Thanks. pete
