  1. Thanks for all the advice. Needless to say I have tried to swirl it like a wine glass to no avail. I may have owned this watch for three weeks but I have only worn it about 5 days in total and treated it like it was a genuine Rolex. I am not happy about joining any disappointed Daytona owners club, if they are this unreliable why are they for sale?

I will get back in touch with the dealer and see what he says or else I could try and find a friendly jeweller in the UK who could fix it for me.

    Thanks

  2. My first ever rep has just stopped for no apparent reason. I have had it for about three weeks and in that time it has kept perfect time. At 11.21am today it just stopped working. I tried winding it up, rotating it etc to no avail. I know its a rep, trusty 7750 with 28,000bpm and a lot of threads speak about the poor resilience of these movements, but I have never used the start stop timing function just in case and then this happens. It still cost £150 so I did expect it to last a bit longer, or have I been naive?

Is there some secret to getting these watches to restart? should I ask my dealer for a replacement based on three weeks use?

    Any suggestions more than welcome

    Regards

  3. I recently bought a Daydate and the bracelet was tiny and no way was it going to circumnavigate my 8inch wrist. Perhaps the size of the bracelet should form part of the watch description? or is that a question you should ask the dealer at the time of purchase? or should I just lose weight!!!!!

  4. Folks

Pondering whether to take the plunge on the Daytona with the running seconds at 6... is it reallly that bad with the choppy running second hand? what are your experiences with this modded movement? did any stop on you? I read The Zigmeister's review which is very informative..... but I like the model with the running seconds at 6 better than the one at 9..... just my opinion but would like to know everyone's experience with this model

    many thanks in advance

    IK

My first rep was a Daytona with secs at 6, despite the slightly choppy running it is an absolutely beautiful watch and gives me great pleasure. If the watch lasts 6 months or 10 years I don't mind as I will still enjoy looking at it.

  5. Having compared various photos of Joshua's, gen and mine from Andrew I have spotted what appears to be a black blob of paint on face of the bezel between the words "units & per"

Before I speak to the dealer can anyone with more knowledge confirm whether this is an actual flaw?

    See attached photo :wounded1:

    Thanks

Hi Having looked at the two photographs side by side I can see some differences between Andrews and Josh's

The crown guard on Andrews looks a bit flatter and the words Swiss Made are closer together on the dial on Andrews too.

Both watches look pretty good though.

  7. MOVEMENT: New Asia 7750 Valjoux (28,800bph) CASE DIAMETER: 40mm THICKNESS: 14mm

DIAL COLOR: Silver Dial CASE MATERIAL: Stainless Steel 316L BRACELET: Stainless Steel 316L FRONT GLASS: Sapphire

BACK GLASS: Solid Case Back BEZEL: Solid SS with Tachymeter HACK MOVEMENT: Yes CLASP TYPE: Double Flip Lock

This is my first rep and my first attempt at using a makeshift light box to take the photographs.

I used a Canon Ixus 700 on a tripod, created a light box using a simple perspex box and covered it in printer paper, found a couple of lamps and illuminated it.

I put the watch around a black sock to give it a black background and then took numerous photos. The final photo which is far from perfect was

set at 1/25sec, aperture 2.8, spot metering, +1 exp, ISO 50, white balance tungsten. I got a real sense of achievement as I obtained the best photographs ever. That said the lighting is far from perfect, but it means I just have to keep on trying and learning from the tips on the forum which is good fun.

    Cheers
