For the DWO tool, can someone make a PDF file so that it can be printed out? I feel it should be sufficient to print this in to a cardstock paper instead of 3d-print a plastic tool.

My dad wearing the datejust 16014 I built for him.

An auto should fit.
A colleague of mine and I were in a meeting this week and I noticed his new watch...it had a blue dial and blueberry bezel. It had to be the Davosa!
Nope.
It was a Mathey-Tissot but...it wasn’t a GMT(?) However it had the bezel and same mid-case as the Davosa. M-T used the same dial but print circles versus squares, same mid case, similar crystal but with a cyclops...and it comes on a heavy version of an oyster (didn’t care for it myself...).
It runs Sellita SW200 or a quartz. His had the auto with the exhibition caseback (it becomes thicker) and had a longer crown.
It’s 649 CHF!

So...an auto with a GMT function could possibly fit with the right caseback.

It seems silly to have a 24hr bezel without a GMT hand.

For 1k you should be able to get Vietnam gen spec case and dial. Whether that’s convincing? I don’t know. Probably can’t fool anyone who knows this watch well.

What's your budget? That determines everything.

I believe Phong can further customize the case to your exact specification, if you ask nicely. @occb2 may have details.

For $400, MBK case does not seem to present a good price to value ratio. These days you can get a Vietnam gen-spec 1680 case from Ruby for less than $700 I think.

I still don’t understand why MBK cases are superior than cartel JKF. The crown position is the same. The only difference I can see is the bezel scallops, where MBK looks more authentic.

Why is MBK case superior to JKF? For the ones I see, the MBK ones still have same the stem position flaw as the JKF.

There is no domed sapphire crystal for explorer. You should get a plexi.

If you look at my tiffany and co 1016 build thread I used a helenarou dial.
Thanks. That looks fantastic. Is it also lumed?
I emailed them couple of times about 1016 dial, but they never reply. Was it custom printing request? I know some other builds have custom made space dweller dials from HR.

I have never seen a HElenarou 1016 dial. Do you have a link?

Shouldn’t cost you a grand unless you go with gold stuff and gen bracelet.

You should be able to fit 2824 in 16000 (3035) and 16200 (3135) cases.

Thanks for sharing! I have whatsapp her and pending her reply. I hope her 1016 dial can fit into Justin's case set. Excited to build my 1st vintage rep!
I will be exciting to see such a build. However, keep in mind that jmb cases take 29mm dials in the seat, but with a smaller opening for 28mm dials not to fall through. 28mm dials may move a bit though.

2824 fits perfectly, too.

Factories should have their own capability to manufacture 2824 and 2836s. It's not a question of capability, but whether it makes business sense to do so.
-
The initial r&d cost of a movement is high. The IWC PR movement cost factory $3m (18m RMB yuan) to rep.

The demand is not enough. Most general public isn’t interested in vintage watches.

The gold/white gold bezels are smaller (34.5mm?) than engine turned bezels (36mm).
