  1. That would help immensely no doubt, Im in the middle east at the moment, but will be returning to the UK in 6 weeks. There isn't an official IWC service centre nearby, the closest one is in London. Do you feel that it is better for resale purposes to get it serviced at an official IWC centre as opposed to a normal jewellers?
  2. Hi Guys, Looking to offload my Gen IWC Mark XVI, but before I do I want to get the watch serviced and the glass and bezel polished (few unsightly dings on the bezel, one slight one on the glass). Can anyone recommend someone on the board who is able to carry out such a task? If anyone can provide a quick turnaround, even better! Also, could anyone tell me whether the IWC Mark XVI has internal AR, or external? Regards
  3. Hi guys, about 6 months ago I took the plunge and bought a gen mark XVI at around 3000 dollars (2008 model, case box books and warranty card all there). Now I have my heart set on upgrading to a GMT two tone rollie, but I'm wondering, what is the general pricing for these watches, I was unsure if I got a good deal, and since then I've scratched the AR, so looking for an opinion so I know what to place at on ebay, is 3000 dollars a fair price, or was I swindled? Cheers
  4. Hi gents, Finally took the plunge and bought a Gen Mark XVI (Silver Dial) on a black leather strap, but I feel I should pick up a brown leather strap for it, as it looks amazing in photos. I am not too worried about the brand of the strap, as long as it feels good and is well made. Any aficionados got any advice on where the best place is to pick one up? I understand the TD may be a good spot, but any in particular?
  5. Im considering starting a project to make a grail Genstein IWC portofino. I understand that IWC parts are ridiculously hard to come by nowadays, but im wondering if the genuine rose gold cases ever comes along? And if so who should I contact to source these parts?
  6. Hi guys, yeah I was using that one as an example as I couldnt actually find the auction I was looking at the time, which is this one here http://www.ebay.com/itm/IWC-Schaffhausen-Vintage-Gold-Plated-Automatic-Cal-853-Watch-Circa-1961-/270983475024?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item3f17dfaf50 Although I do really like the one you posted up Michael, I may offer him 1100 and see what happens
  7. Hi guys, in my search for a reasonably priced gen dress watch, Ive started to look at and like the look of older IWC watches, ones which usually have a IWC caliper 8531 movement or something similar to this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Authentic-Vintage-IWC-Schaffhausen-Mens-Auto-18k-Rose-Gold-Watch-8531-Circa-1960-/170904508860?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item27cab3d9bc Now obviously I am aware of the pitfalls of ebay and the amount of fakes the circulate on it. Im wondering what these watches, if authentic, should retail at? and also, if anyone is aware of this movement or its derivatives, is it reliable? and do they require a lot of maintaining? Cheers guys L
  8. Hi guys, been looking at different watches to start my collection with, found a vintage gen cellini (top end of my budget) I was going to jump for, but ive just come across this beauty..... http://www.watchclub.com/w3469/rolex-day-date-gramco-dial-18ct-yellow-gold.html Never seen this in my life, but its a gorgeous watch, and I really like the brown leather strap. Noone knows of anywhere that replicas these do they? L
  9. Ah, what an absolute pillock I am. MBK the best bet then?
  10. Basically im away to thailand in a couple of months, and was wondering if anyone knows anywhere you can buy high quality Reps from? I saw some nasty looking ones in MBK last time, and just wondering if people have experience with anything like this? Cheers
