  1. Is there a decent rep? I've checked the sites of my favorite dealers but their reps all have very poor faces, not even close to the actual watch. I can live with a lot of minor discrepancies, but the dial face is too big a fault. Is there a decent copy?
  2. I just saw it on another thread: the IWC Aquatimer bronze Charles Darwin. Absolutely gorgeous and it looks suitable for dress and casual wear
  3. This is absolutely stunningly beautiful How can I justify its purchase? Let's see: I don't have even a rep IWC; Maybe I can find a dealer who'll knock 15% off the tab; I just sold a piece of land for more than this; and, mostly, my wife couldn't care less.
  4. That is super sharp looking. The best I've seen. Do you know who made the strap, cause that makes the watch
  5. For me the Dolomites are the best place in Italy with a plate of polenta, aged gorgonzola, some good salami, and a glass or two Valpolicella. Heaven on earth
  6. 5.2 ounces of Terre d'Hermes perfume at the Delta duty free shop at Kennedy Airport for$118. A steal
  7. So legit that he has to launder payments. Simple fact is that no one involved in rep watches, buyer or seller, or manufacturer, is legit. It's merely a question of the degree of illegitimacy. Angus is probably one of the better ones
  8. I'd like to have a blue faced or grey faced PAM, either the 089 or the 091, but somewhere someone wrote of his concern with the GMT function. None of you has mentioned it. Should I still be concerned? Actually, I won't use the GMT much, if ever, but I would like to add a shell cordovan strap and that's my real reason for wanting one.
  9. OK. I'll be on the lookout for a transvestite rep dealer. (Sorry, your typo was too tempting) Actually, the prize JLC, I think, would be a good rendering of a Reverso, say the 1931 Tribute, for instance. Just not enough interest in it but surely one of the most iconic watches ever.
  10. A good guy, indeed. I pointed out an overcharge on my CC, and, bingo, I received an e-mail saying it will be corrected. I've ordered two APs from him and they're beautiful. I am sure the incoming PAM 372 will also be of high quality.
  11. I rarely set the date on a watch I haven't worn in a while. I am curious as to whether I am in the majority or minority on this earth shaking topic.
  12. Oh, man, you are so right. Yesterday I updated the list I keep of rep purchases. Without including the value of several Rolexes I bought years ago, I have dropped a small fortune on fake watches, ranging in price from $80 for a Crazy Hours to well over $800 for a Breguet tourby. I know some of you guys could double or triple the number of watches I have. It kind of sneaks up on you, a few hundred here and a couple hundred there and presto, thousand upon thousands have been spent. And I have never paid for fancy frankens or even a lume job.
  13. This is all very interesting but when push came to shove, I wanted a JLC Reverso on my 8"wrist. I couldn't care less if it wasn't a perfect fit (actually, it looks good) because I wanted that icon for my own. As many have already noted on countless threads, how many people really notice what's on your wrist? Watch junkies yes, but the majority of people no. As long as the lugs don't extend past your wrist, I say buy the watch you love, not the watch that merely "fits".
  14. A few years as a professional baseball player and then on to the real and boring world of a budget director for a military department.
  15. Thanks. Black marker is probably the answer. I don't know how it happened, and it might be that the white is not under the black but on top of it, left there from whatever caused the scratch. I tried wiping it off to no avail and now I'm afraid to use a Dremel. Sure isn't deep. If I wait a week or two I probably will find it tolerable, like that first scratch on a new car
