  1. HI all, I've had my ingenieur for a while now, and the hands always bug me. Everything else is perfect. I don't know why they went all out on this one and then added cheap, tin looking shiny hands. Is there any way to replace this? I already had to replace the "ETA" movement with a store bought ETA. and I would like to wear this one for years. I've been considering buying a gen Omega just so these little things won't bother me but if I can replace the hands I won't. This is my favorite rep of my 5 and it's almost perfect. Thanks.
  2. I think there's a very small hair behind the crystal stuck in the hands, and some dust now... He also scratched the crystal. As far as the date wheel, he was able to remove it from the old movement, yet unable to glue it to the new one? He said it didn't fit. I have it safe in a box now. I didn't realize it was a metal part. I wonder why he said he couldn't just glue it on? His English was very bad and he was hard to understand..
  3. He couldn't do it... He didn't know how to un-glue the date wheels to swap them. I think I'm going to have to find another watchmaker here in San Francisco...?
  4. Thank you, I'm going to see him now and I'll tell him.
  5. Hi all, After my IWC Ingenuier AMG stopped ticking twice and after one return already to China for this watch, I decided to buy a 2824-2 movement here in the US form Otto Frei. I brought it to a jeweler to swap out the movements and I just got a phone call from him telling me that although the new movement fits, the date wheel doesn
  6. It's very loose, all over the place when I'm driving too.. I'll try it. Thanks
  7. I love my seamaster chrono but am bothered by the crown and two chrono buttons that have sharp edges and are always riding up against my wrist. Can I replace them with gen parts from otto frei? I've seen that the gen has much smoother edges and won't do this. My only concern is that the won't fit when I bring them to my local watch repair guy. Doesn anyone know for sure if they'll fit? Thanks
  8. Hi The Zigmeister! I think the post office is trying to deliver the Tag you sent back to me I guess if I want this one to work I'll have to send it to you too. Thanks!
  9. I couldn't find any topics on how exactly to calibrate one of my 7750's. It's about 1 hour slow off in a 24 hour period. It came this way. What to do? (thanks)
  10. That actually sounds like a good idea to me But then I'm just addictive/obsessive by nature. My co-worker with the smp gen asked me to stop coming over to his desk to compare and just to buy a real one if I care so much... Kind of funny but really just a little crazy. My girlfriend asked me to stop talking about watches. Forever. She's had enough too. But I've gotten my friends all hooked, at least 3 of them have bought reps too now. Anyway, I should get back to real life.
  11. I don't really know anything about Tudor except that they copy they sub and it doesn't say Rolex. Oh, wait I said I wan't going to talk anymore...
  12. I guess now I have to take pictures because it really did make a difference, and it really looks like Gen with all my fussing around with it... I mean why buy a rep if you don't want it to look like a gen? Why not buy a Tudor? Or something that doesn't say "Tag" if you don't want it to look like the real thing. Don't be silly. you want it to look real and that's why you bought it. No one want's a gen that doesn't look like the real thing or you wouldn't talk about them all day on this list! My point in all my posts have been that I'm thoroughly impressed with some of these Gens... (the link Chrono, the SMP chrono) that I love them so very much and am so happy with the $1000's I've saved by not buying the gen versions, but that if the factories can get them as close as the smp/link, I don;t understand why they can't keep to that high standard and stop producing bad reps like the SMP GMT I wasted almost $400 on (including the oiling and waterproofing I had done to it). I would buy reps all day if they were the same quality as the link and the smp chrono. Seriously. Not trying to get in any flame here, so that will be my last comment on the subject
  13. The racing carerra with the rubber strap is the one I'm talking about... It just feels like a plastic toy. I tried on the Gen and it was more solid. The dial looks really cheap. That's what bugs me the most. Shiny, toy plastic.
  14. I sent it to The Zigmeister for servicing. I'll try to remember when it comes back.
  15. I'm just going to give mine away to a friend. I'm pretty unhappy with the overall SMP GMT (blue). The Chrono is excellent, but the bracelet on the GMT pokes out, the waves suck, I just wish I didn't get it oiled and waterproofed. It'll make a nice gift though. ...I don't understand how they can come up with such excellent reps like my Link Chrono and the SMP Chrono, as far as I'm concerned identical to the originals, and then come up with my Carerra and this GMT that are so inferior in comparison.
