  1. Assuming you've got the Avenger and not the SuperAvenger the lug width is 22mm

Removing a bracelet and putting a strap on is simple. You'll need a spring bar tool e.g. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Watch-Repair-tool-Watch-Band-Spring-Bar-Link-Remover-Ruler-Tool-/320944025835

If you turn the watch-head face down you will see the ends of the spring bars through gaps in the bracelet end links. Using the pronged end of the tool compress the spring bar and (at the same time) pull the bracelet away from the watch-head. This should result in the end of the spring bar coming out of the locating hole in the lug. There's a knack to this bit - once you've got it, you've got it - but it can be frustrating until you get it right (you can't do any real harm while you're getting it wrong unless you pull the bracelet much too hard). Once this is done, do the other end of the same spring bar and that end of the bracelet will come away. Do the other end and the bracelet is off the watch.

Putting the strap on is the reverse but doesn't need the tool. Take the spring bars out of the bracelet end links and put them through the ends of the strap. Compress the spring bar and locate it in the lugs. In practice what I do is locate one end of the spring bar just inside the lug (but not in its hole) then, with a fingernail, compress the bar until I get the end of the strap and spring bar inside the other lug. Then I manoeuvre the strap until both ends locate with a click in their holes.

I don't want to put you off buying the rep croc strap from Angus but bear in mind that there are lots of nice 22mm leather straps out there.

Finally, I would advise you to keep the bracelet so you have the option to go back to it but.... I'm looking for an Avenger bracelet so if you want to sell it, let me know.

  2. So I have a Steelfish on a Pro-II bracelet with a spare 22mm leather strap. I've also got an incoming Avenger (Code Yellow) watch-head only.

My plan was to swing the bracelet over to the Avenger and put the Steelfish on the leather strap.

However, it seems Breitlings have watch-specific end links.

So.... will my Steelfish bracelet fit my Avenger?

p.s. I realise the Steelfish bracelet is brushed, not polished.

  3. A dealer I've done business with twice before hasn't answered 2 emails I sent him after receiving payment 2 weeks ago. I've noticed recent posted reviews (of this dealer) from other members, so I am starting to believe I'm being ignored.

What admin should I bring this up to to resolve this problem? (as I just want a refund)

    Thanks

It's none of my business, I know, but why do you want (and feel you are entitled to) a refund?

I don't think many of the TDs cover "buyer's remorse" in the T&Cs

  4. The biggest issue with WU for me is the costs.

For the dealer it is secure - once they have your money, they have your money - there's no chargeback like there is with Visa or PayPal.

I've never understood how PayPal protects us buying reps - don't they just walk away once one or other party tells them what the payment was for?

I have recently paid a TD by bank transfer using an online IBAN service - costs were less than WU and the TD knocked 8% off.

  5. Have you seen the Panerai reference guide on RWI: http://www.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php/reference-pam-review-107365.html

There's loads of info on there and a really link to a really useful spreadsheet at the end - it allows you to filter on the characteristics so if, for example, you want to know about 44mm PAMs with a polished bezel and no date window you can cut out all the rest. Having said that it looks like the link to the spreadsheet is broken at the moment.

  6. I'm sure this has been asked 1000 times (and I did do a quick search) so please just point me at the most up-to-date info if it's been covered before

I've got a 42mm Planet Ocean on its way to me. One thing the seller has said about this watch is that the steel bracelet isn't great. So I'm having a think about my options. I would consider any/all of the following:

    • gen bracelet - would it fit? which one? where from?
    • better rep bracelet - which one? where from?
    • leather strap - where to get buckle from?
    • rubber - which one? where from? what clasp?
    • Nato

    So.... what do you recommend?

(pictures would be very helpful to me)
