  1. I bought a PO for about 180$ with an ETA, that was a long time ago, I dont remember the dealer.

I bouth a Submariner with genuine swiss ETA (at least it had eta stamps) from paul for 109$. Another dealer, I dont remember his name, something with S sold ETA reps for about 100$ aswell.

But ever since the cartel stepped in....... well I dont think I need to finish the sentence! You get the picture now?

  2. Slay, are you sure about the Venus having the same subdial spacing as the Valjoux? I was under the impression the Venus subdials were spaced a bit further apart than the Valjoux. I have copies of each, so I will have to get out the micrometer and take some measurements when I have some time.

Too bad Andrew is unable to get the same vintage Daytonas that Honpo is selling (or at least advertising on his site). For about $300 (Honpo's price in US dollars), they are easily the most accurate versions of these watches that I have seen for anywhere near that price. I exchanged a couple of emails with Honpo a few months ago and then, after asking which watches I was interested in, he just vanished. But when I started to hear all the horror stories about him, I guess it was a good thing that he stopped responding.

It has the same subdial spacing, I put a DW dial made for a Vj23 ontop of a Venus movement and the subdial spacing was exactly the same!

  3. yea, I got mine back then for like $250 ? but considering it's swiss eta, and considering what we know now about the supposed swiss-eta shortage? and the price hike at least that's justifiable..

Oh really, it is ETA? Dear god that must be the reason!

I'm only asking myself how the devil other dealers supplied me with ETA based watches for 100$?

  4. I also got confirmation by a Martian that they are planning to invade Earth and suck the blood of mankind.

I just wonder if anything got lost in translation... :g:

WOW, someone must have slept on the joke pillow last night!

Believe me, the words were very clear, there is no way of misreading that particular part. Plus I'm sure that particular dealer has english skills well enough to make himself clear, so even YOU can understand him.

  5. Of course, it should be of interest to anyone who is buying replica watches. If the members of this "cartel" became known to forum members, perhaps it might encourage purchasing from the other dealers. I believe that most anyone who has been around this market for a while could guess at least a couple of "cartel" members.

I dont think its a secret anymore that atleast Joshua and Andrew are members of this 'cartel'.

@Tom I love your signature! Awesome artwork

  6. the Venus movement would be perfect for a 6263, because it has the same subdial spacing as a Valjoux 23/72/DW Mystery movement.

The only problem is all the cases made for the Venus have improper dimensions and no assymetrical pushers. Watchhonpo has the version with proper dimensions and assymetric pushers, but you cannot order from him. I was scammed by them, they took my money and I got nothing.

Andrew told me he cannot get this watch. Dont ask me why. He said he already tried to get it, but no luck

  7. I don't think it's the cartel so much as it's the factory.

We've seen other dealers gain access to the super-reps, but the prices haven't been significantly better- which suggests to me that the factory is price-fixing.

The only way that it will be rectified is if other factories start seeing the monopoly, and begin to try to do something similar.

There is some cause for hope that this is happening. The IWC Aquatimer and the Tag are coming from a different factory- but are supposedly 1:1.....

The cartel-dealers figured out a way to work together with the factory to fix prices. They buddy up with the factory owner, he only sells to them (other dealers said they cant get the watch, or no large quantities) and they can charge whatever they want. Maybe other dealers have to pay high prices for the watch but the cartel dealers dont? Who knows!

Thats the problem when you let people like Josh grow. They used to sell only a few watches, now they have their own damn webshop with CC processor (like bestswiss and idealwatches). With more sales comes more buying power. Thats when they started to partner up to have even greater buying power. They can probably afford to buy 500 pieces of one single watch at once (what other dealers cannot do, because they dont sell in such high volumes), hence the ability to fix prices.

Now the difference lies in the DEALER. Jay&Angel have buying power too. What they do is pass those low prices onto the customer. Josh and Andrew on the other hand are starting to do the same thing bestswiss does and use their power to cutoff supplie for other dealers or make watches expensive for them. That is why I boycot them. I used to buy a lot of watches from andrew and leather goods from his partner, but ever since he started his webshop thing (and the partnership/cartel with josh) I refuse to buy from him. I never liked Joshua, because he's a crook in my opinion (despite all the asskissing he does).

What I hope is, that some other chinese factory owner thinks "OMFGBBQQUACK I can get soo much for that HBB watch??" and starts to make his own HBB (happened to a few other watches before) and sells it for a bit less... That could start a price war.

  8. I did have spare 21.6k A7750's, but 3 of them were scrapped for this HBB, and the other ones I had, were scrapped for the other HBB...and lets just say the appreciation from the owner for all the work that was done was basically zero (not Kruzer, he always acknowledges the effort I put into his watches). After 10+ hours of my time, a few scrapped movements, and many problems and difficulties to overcome, I emailed a long detailed message of all the work and effort I had put into the watch to make it work.. and the response back was a one liner "...send me a picture of the watch, it's really important..." Hmmm, sure, I'll get right on that, thanks for asking...

    That is really messed up.

What I wanted to ask you, you remember that Gold JUNGHANS watch you overhauled for me some time ago? I think the mainspring broke, do you think you can get a replacement spring for that watch?
