  1. Most Rolex hardcores and purists think that white version is the only one ExpII. I dunno... I like the black one a lot. Actually I wouldn't mind owning both.

Perhaps in my case, since I had a white face, this is different and new to me. Can't say it's my favorite, but, it is a nice appearing watch and (so far) spot on. Funny thing about this one compared to the gen white one I had, the cyclops on this is easier to read! Good variation. Tim

  2. I want one of these. A friend of mine at work has the black dial (gen) but I think the white is vastly superior.

Dunno, I thought the same thing, but after I received it I have to admit I like it as well, if not more, as the white one. I had a gen white one and gave it to my son when he graduated from college. This one works as well, if not better, than the one I passed on.

  3. Congrats w.genzo!

There are 3 different versions of the correct stack Explorer II.

    2. The version 2. Almost impossible to tell the difference between version 1 and 2. River was able to source this. Probably out of stock right now. Cyclops/date and the winding crown positioned correctly. Does NOT take genuine dial, as the dial diameter has changed. dluddy and The Zigmeister have tried and no go. The black version is, imho, hands down the best Rolex replica ever produced. Very accurate.

From what I know, and that's EXTEMELY limited when it comes to anything Rolex, your # 2 seems to be the most accurate (in black). I have one of these, and I know the stack isn't what Rolex puts out, but what the hill I'm not paying Rolex prices. Also, the movement in this particular watch is a 2892-A2, which is the reason I purhased it. There may well be flaws in it, but who's going to come up to me and examine it with 10X glasses? No one, but the watchmaker and he knows what I have. I don't think you can purchase these watches any longer, but if you do find one then snatch the critter up and tell yourself how lucky you were to have found it. Could I have mods done on it? Sure, but why? Tim

  4. It's crap like this that drives most of us up the wall. It's there in front of them but they can't get it right. Hell of a mystery, or, it is to me.

The 6:00 on the dial sits lower between T swiss made T on the rep. On the gen it sits above it, I`ll include a pic of the gen for you to see. Whats interesting is on the Panerai site the 243 shown has the sunken 6:00 as in the rep. Easy to see when they repped this one where they went for reference.

As above, get the gen of choice and enjoy.

  5. I'm good with this dialog. You're better - much better. Tim

I think it is best for TeeJay to answer those questions, all I can do is assume things but I am also talking from experience by having discussions with him about religion amongst other things.

There are numerous references in the Quran about Jesus and his role/responsibility when he was here. It also makes clear in many verses that humans are not supposed to believe he was God. Heres one:

Say: He is God, the One and Only God, the Eternal, Absolute. He begets not, nor is He begotten. And there is none like unto Him. (Al-Ikhlas 112:1-4)

    Another:

"And behold! God will say [i.e. on the Day of Judgment]: 'Oh Jesus, the son of Mary! Did you say unto men, worship me and my mother as gods in derogation of God?' He will say: 'Glory to Thee! Never could I say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing, You would indeed have known it. You know what is in my heart, though I know not what is in Yours. For You know in full all that is hidden. Never did I say to them anything except what You commanded me to say: 'Worship God, my Lord and your Lord.' And I was a witness over them while I lived among them. When You took me up, You were the Watcher over them, and You are a witness to all things'" (5:116-117).

Now, TeeJay being a Muslim, will of course believe the Quran, and especially so if he is a devout Muslim.

  6. And you wonder why the world has a problem with Islam/Muslims. I found one accurate statement you made here that hasn't been covered previously, and that is we Catholics do guilt. Well, I suppose we do, but then we grow up. And, you? Tim

Another, is that Christianity is a corruption of God's message (thanks to Constantine) where the Qur'an, is not. Something people often do not realise, is that Muhammad, peace be upon him, was not founding a new religion, but restoring the original one. Of course, that has itself been corrupted over the years itself, which is why I am a Qur'an Only Muslim. I follow the word of God, not the mixed up version, which incorporates the practices and opinions of Muhammad, peace be upon him, as religiously required.

That could be why Catholics feel guilt and the need to confess their sins... It's not for a priest to voyeuristically take people's confessions and offer absolution for them, forgiveness comes from God alone.

Jesus was not the 'son of God', he was simply a prophet who God chose to create in a certain way. His divinity was added, as Pugwash pointed out, by Constantine, at the same time that many other aspects of his life (which would challenge that opinion) were deliberately removed to be forgotten.

  7. Labs, hands down. They love kids, they love you, they're unbelievably loyal, they're big enough to scare the crap out of someone coming close to your house in the middle of the night (had it happen). The English Lab, white, black, or, brown, are smaller but more stocky, but, sweet and loving. The Eastern US Lab gets to be about 75 pounds, give or take 20 pounds depending on breeding. Western Labs are HUGE. I wouldn't want one of those simply because they can get up to 130 pounds. All in all, they're sweet, sweet dogs. My grand kids ride mine, Murphy, and he just strolls along letting them sit on his back. They also lay on top of him and he never moves. He seems to enjoy it as much as they do.

  8. Hell, I'm cool with any of it, Victoria. The thing is, you (3rd person) need to dig deeper in order to attempt to find a happy medium that works for you. It seems to me that you (3rd person) have to consider that what you're dealing with when it comes to religion is the so-called Law of God aren't, they're man made laws. The bible is full of cute stories, but consider the educational level of the population back then. Bring a JC into this society today and no one would buy what he had to say. I think he existed, but I also believe its a far stretch of the imagination to consider him God, or, a God, or, any part thereof. Man dictated that he was devine. This discussion could go on forever and I would fill hundreds of pages on point/counter-point. It's no different than politics. In the end there's only one answer; yours. Tim

I tend to be a little heavy-handed, for which I apologise, Lyndonville.

But I am an Historian by training and profession. Religion is a contentious topic, and one which there are many reasons why people ask questions.

Some are genuine because they are curious, like I think Demon is, but others, because they wish to tear down religion because they don't like it (specifically Christianity).

I don't care about any of that. I just want as much fact as I can muster. If it's in the Scriptures, I'll take it, as flawed as they are.

If not, then we're all just shooting the breeze, and one person's information is another person's factoid. Is that cool with you?

  9. You want others who have researched this to give you facts, is that right? Why don't you research it and find facts? I don't mind conversation, but tend to shy away from becoming an instructor in history. All of what Pug wrote is spot on. It's always been a mystery to me how and whyt they decided to upgrade JC's status from a Prophet to a God. For almost 400 years he was simply a spiritual leader in the eyes of mankind. They, whoever "they" were, named this guy Jesus Christ. Ever heard of a Jew named that before? Of course not. Who knows what this guys name was. Could have been Moshe Ben-David Ben for all we know, but one thing we do know is JC was not his name. As for the missing years, read up on his life in Egypt and you'll understand more about what he thought and why. The Temple in Cairo didn't exactly follow the teachings that came out of the Temple in Jerusalem. They weren't bar room buddies at all.

I'm not there yet. I would like to have the exact reference for you to say that though.

Everything I have said, including that bit of fluff on Queen Marie, can be backed up with noted historical sources. I'd just like to read the passage which allows you to state your claim with such validity.

And then I'd like to read why it was excised.

In short, give me history, or give me Cheetos.

  10. You are right, my friend, but I already asked and it is out of stock...as dadog predicted.

No matter how tempted I am about both the 27 and the 29 i can't seem to dare buy from a guy I don't know from a forum I just registered in... I feel more comfortable knowing there is a Josh or a Davidsen back there to send the watch back if there is something wrong...

    Patience...

I'm getting on this late, but, if you have a chance to buy one of these with the 2892-A2 movement then you'd be foolish to balk on it. I have one and for the life of me I can't imagine selling it. The watch is rock solid. Got it from Angus long time back. Tim

  11. Precisely... 316L (as claimed to be used in our reps) is not even supposed to rust...

Nevertheless, what an outstandingly amazing and infinitely original review you have done here, themuck... :notworthy: :notworthy: This should most definitely be made a bloody sticky!!! :1a: :1a:

Grade 316L, the low carbon version of 316, is immune from sensitization (grain boundary carbide precipitation) and so is extensively used in heavy gauge welded components (over about 6mm).

Grade 316H, with its higher carbon content has some application at elevated temperatures, as does stabilized grade 316Ti. Nitrogen strengthened versions are also available as 316N and 316LN.

I have used 316Ti when building process lines for the textile industry and I can assure you this grade of s/s will NEVER show signs of rust or deterioration. Although 316L (low carbon) is an excellent metal, the choice should be 316H, or, the Ti series.

Also, 316L is subject to bruising, nicks, scrapes, dings, etc. It's a good metal, but, more, it's on the lower end of the 316 series. In addition, the content of the metal depends greatly on who made it. It should not be surprising that two pieces of 316X react differently from each other. It's all about the chemistry of who is making it. I have dealt with CN 304, 316L and 316Ti and I can assure you they are not the same products you'll find coming out of EU, or, the US.
