  1. too sub-like!! o my god! what would it take to make it not look like a sub? aside from it being black and steel, and having three hands, i can't see something more different... without being stupid. (i'm not a fan of the p.o., by the way, but i can't really see the comparison. my favorite is the 2254.50, and even that one, i really don't get people saying it's like a sub. it's not!!)
  2. larger markers and hands, combined with all-black, really makes it look a lot more like a real hard-core diver's watch. that would probably _kill_ in the larger seadweller case and no-magnifier crystal. very nice. plus -- more lume! woo hoo!
  3. o my god... a real 5513! with one photo, that became my grail watch in an instant, about a week or so ago! before i re-found my way to these replicas, had been thinking a modified marcello n3 or n2 would have been the thing for me. (modified = sterile military sub dial.) now i think i could get something comparable in the rep world, even if i still, later on, replace the dial or whatever. that is, if the eta 2824 i get in a rep isn't full of mouse droppings or whatever. thanks a lot! jsph
  4. ... is trying to herd a bunch of wild cats.
  5. shoot... i really am brain-dead today -- just saw ttk's black sub / bezel protector. sorry. the p.p.s. stands, however.
  6. ... doesn't get athlete's foot... get's dutch elm disease.
  7. wow... that would be starting right off in the deep end, getting your hands on one of those bezel protectors! i'm still just saving up... jsph p.s. ttk: will you be posting any all-black submariners or sea-dwellers on the dealer's gallery? p.p.s. ttk: with the planet ocean perfected -- any chance of having a word with the factories about improving the 2254.50 (again)?
  8. [oops! i was too slow! that was for dutchy!] ... wears his mother's army boots! [and no, that's not any less sophisticated than the last two pages of this thread.]
  9. ... is living contradiction to his own .sig! [eek!]
  10. somebody forward this man klink's guide -- stat! links to: ttk ("for vendettka"!), andrew/trustywatchguy, joshua, eddie lee, river, luckyyy, silixprime... no need to get burned on the websites, and no need to grow old and grey reading posts here before finding your way to your first purchase. have fun.

    Sea-Dweller

sorry, guys -- been jumping between a lot of posts today/yesterday. don't mean to come off like an airhead. thanks.
  12. wild... thanks so much for the pic and info. very nice one. jsph
  13. > And if you look closer to the crown , you can find an ' S ' mean gen serviced glass holy crap that's cool.
  14. nice watches. have you ever thought of trading in the marcello for a very good sea-dweller rep? or is the marcello just too nice?

    Sea-Dweller

thanks for that info, bricky. if you don't mind, which dealer was this from? reason i ask is, i think that, eg, eddie's "best" swiss sea-dweller, he says is the right thickness, correct deep case-back, etc. i wonder, though, if in reality i would like a "faker" sea-dweller, with thinner (submariner) case, considering my wrist size and also its being able to fit under cuffs. i remember an old post from dicktracy about that once. things going ok with that asian movement so far, as well?
  16. TTK: what model was that certina, by the way. that one is really, really nice. jsph
  17. no, seriously... is that really nanuq or just a guy in a nanuq suit? ;P
  18. ... has not yet had his lucky egg kissed. [sorry, just trying to play along!]
  19. very nice. congratulations. what kind of crystal is on that? do you happen to have a profile shot of it? jsph

    Sea-Dweller

hi bricky, it looks really nice. i definitely need a sea-dweller, though still not sure exactly which one (ie, which version, and which dealer). can you tell me, what kind of movement is in there? i'm wondering about the date wheel location, for example. also, how thick is this one? i know there are a variety of (modern) seadweller replicas out there, but that some of them have thinner crystals, less bulging case-backs, etc... great watch! jsph
  22. re: pollx desing -- is it just me, or is that a bit silly? i mean, it's not like all other instances of "rolex", "submariner", etc, were messed up throughout, to avoid getting in trouble. so why that case engraving? i just don't get it.
  23. thanks, guys! great to be here... again! take care, and see you around... jsph
