Countries that have recently had a 10%/20% devaluation of the currency are a good start. Hong Kong is good, compared to the EU the US are paradise, for new or 2nd hand.

It´s more like statistics. You can present a number and interprete whatever You want into it, it may not be fact but it isn´t easily deniable.

Rolex is the best known and most desired brand in the UK - Coca Cola comes second.

The submariner-design is universally the most functional for a  watch - every brand has a copy of it.

There´s no point in buying a fake Seiko 5 or Casio quartz so ppl just by the gen.

The whole FWFFP - concept is just an annoying (albeit effective) marketing gag for the Swiss to try to sell their nowadays way overpriced gadgets (20% value - and these 20% include the precious craftmanship - 80% overhead cost).

It´s a scammer copycat of the real tswatch who is also not on the trusted dealer list of rwg.

Buy from the TD only, look them up, follow the links via rwg and not via google.

China is growing at 7% p.a. So are wages, living cost, worker demands and product prices. A lot of "cheap" non-watch items from 3-4 years ago are now "reasonably" priced. The visual quality is also getting better, so are some of the materials applied. One wonders where this will lead to (thinking global watch-industry) some 10-15 years ahead. The Swiss watch-industry also became profecient in what they were doing and build up their infrastructure/knowledge/skills - by starting with low-quality replicas of English and French watches, some 200 years ago. In 1850 they were already producing over 2 million units (England: 200.000 at that time).

The TC with shipping and 4% paypal fees will be about $540 + exchange rates, ready out of the box with a very good clone 2824 movement. The second one is a budget Cartel 21j 5512 or 5513 (very reliable and the new ones have better crownguards) $118 plus shipping from Supermirrors (or $220 for asian clone). Modding depends on choice of materials and if You do it Yourself (if budget: hands $7 to $35 Rafflestime or HR; dial $35 Raffles to $120 Yuki or more Tonny; fitting plexi $20, better insert if not the original some $35 to $50, lugbars $5 to $20). It should have an Athaya-crown and tube (another $35) but I didn´t want to do that for risk of damaging the caseset or stem. Rolexaddict (in the EU) works magic on the caseset, lugholes, crownguards at a cost but he would also relume the original dial and age the hands if needed with some savings there.

Note: it takes gen-spec dials that are 26 or 26.5mm, Raffles only sells 28mm and 29mm dials so those have to be filed off. Imo the vintage Cartels are very rewarding/easy to wear on the wrist watches without going over the top with the cost.
