  1. No, he collects gens. I asked to see his GMT two-tone and it's the real deal. I was prepared to hand over mine, but he didn't ask. I think the hardcore rep collectors probably are more familiar with the nuances of watches than 99% of people who own a genuine. I had a gen GMT for over 20 years and had NO idea about all the details routinely discussed on rep forums!
  2. During a business meeting the other day a guy commented on my Sub LV. "I see you're wearing the 50th anniversary edition of the submariner. How long have you had it?" A quick glance to his wrist revealed a two-tone GMT Master. "Oh, I've not had it that long" I said. He said "I collect Rolexes, and I have the same watch. It's a beauty, but I generally wear my GMT." Come to find out he has the tt gmt, a daytona, yachtmaster, LV, and a few others. We spent a few days working together and talked Rolexes quite often. He also admired my GMT II from Josh and asked how many I have. I said only these two. So here was a Rolex collector who was completely fooled by my reps. I felt a little guilty for not fessing-up because he was such a nice guy.
  3. I have a nice sub LV replica with asian movement. Would it be practical to replace the asian movement with a nice swiss one?
  4. I've been to China, Hong Kong, and Thailand, and have seen thousands of replica watches on display in markets, along with handbags and dozens of other replica items. Want the latest movies? They're $2US in most places. Software? $2US per CD. Same goes with music CD's. In some places you pay for the software or movie, and a courier delivers the goods 30 minutes later. In some places only laminated pages of watch ads are on display, and you must ask to see a particular model as they are kept hidden in case of a raid. Every so often the cops confiscate watches or CD's, pretending to enforce laws. The bottom line is Bill Gates can't even stop them. The rep trade is alive and well and flourishing. Tourists crowd around the watch sellers like mad. Business is good. On a recent trip to Thailand I decided to buy my son a rep rolex just for laughs. I owned a GMT Master for many years, so I'm pretty familiar with how a genuine rolex looks and feels. When I saw the rep rolex sub I couldn't believe my eyes. While I'm not the experienced replica expert many of you are, I was holding in my hand a fake rolex that could fool anyone. I bought two of these watches and still couldn't believe how fantastic they looked and felt. I can't compare my recent purchase to what was available previously, but because of the quality of the rep, I now find myself fascinated with the subject, and have ordered one with a swiss movement from Josh.
  5. Ok, here are two watches I got in Thailand. They appeared to be better quality than some of the really crappy ones I saw. They look and feel good, and are running. What kind of movements are they sporting? Decent quality? I wish I'd known about this forum before I bought them. Lot of great info here! MJ
  6. I just returned from Thailand where I picked up a few replica watches for myself and my friends. THEN I found this great forum and am really enjoying it. The watches I purchased are all Rolex replicas: One black/black GMT Master One cheapie Yacht Master One higher quality Yacht Master Two LV Submariners One black Submariner Not knowing there were different movements available in these watches at the time, my question is, is there a guide that'll tell me how I can identify what's inside? I've orderd a Rolex back removal tool, so I'll be able to get inside them soon, but I'm not sure what to look for. Also, is weight an indication of anything? All bands are almost identical with same number of links, but the better YM weighs a tad more than the rest. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I can also photograph these watches if anyone's interested. Thanks! MJ
  7. I just returned from Bangkok with 7 Rolex copies. No problem, but I removed all the plastic, lables, tags, etc. I travel internationally all the time and have never been checked.
