  1. Your right! New DG, first surgery and it's not looking good, did I hear ofrei is the best to get them?
  2. It sure is [emoji13], your right on needing the correct tools... Back in the bag until I get some decent gear
  3. He sure does, I can barely even see the pieces! I tried aligning the bridge and the little yoke and low and behold nothing fits back together again!
  4. Ok... It looked easier in the video aaaarrrggghh [emoji33]
  5. Sorry dbane, was that the crown on the left is a 703/704 or the one on the right [emoji32]
  6. That's an awesome video, thank you for that, will attempt this sometime soon, trembling but soon!
  7. My sub on the left which I plan to mod until I develop the skills to attack my GMT which is on the right in pieces still... The movement still winds, but you can't set it with the crown in any position anymore which is why I understand the problem to be with the keyless works
  8. Wow thanks guys, OK, so the left crown is a TC branded crown as far as I'm aware and the right crown is sterile which is why I want to change out. Both tubes fit the stem on both my GMT and Sub, but the crown on the left does not screw onto either case, both watches look to be Parnis I assume and I was hoping to mod. GMT is a 166110 style and the movement no longer sets correctly. My skills are not there yet to fix so I thought I might try to mod my Sub instead, will add some pics but really appreciate the help thanks
  9. Ok, being a complete noob here and amazed at how wonderful this site is, I stuffed the keyless works on my GMT so when I got my sub I was keen to remove the stem and crown properly this time which I did, only to find that not all crowns are equal! Funny that should have been blatantly obvious but I thought once I got the outside measurement I would be fine! Can someone please help me identify which is the correct crown I need? Have attached picture of the crown I bought from RWG on the left and the sterile one I actually need to replace on the right! Which is also the same crown type that's on my sterile GMT Many thanks and if you could also point me to where I might get one that would be fab! Thanks everyone for some awesome expertise and great reading
  10. Excellent idea with the scotch tape
  11. Thanks for the info guys, taken the movement out, done the wiggly thang and now I reckon it's time to follow the steps of MikeM's keyless reset....better get a movement holder before I launch into this as a ball of blue tack is currently providing all options
  12. Awesome! I have a set aftermarket hands, gen dial, gen strap and an old but good condition parnis case with crystal & cyclops, however I don't think the gen dial will work in the parnis case as its from a GMT ii, so I'm pretty sure the 16610 dial is a little on the small side that the start lol but you have to start somewhere hence I thought about a donor watch to gradually bionic Much appreciated Cheers
  13. Rightio! I currently have one project on the cards which is to fix my broken DG28 but.... I want to very slowly start to put together a franken 16610. What is the best cheap homage to start this off with? I already have a dial and bracelet, but will eventually pick up crown etc, movement not fussed about at the mo, but will someday get round to being serious about movement and hands, then maybe replace case etc. so the whole thing might turnaround just over a few years What do you reckon? Am I better starting with a cheap rep or keeping it simple and going down the Parnis track? Many thanks and enjoy the weekend
  14. Roll on the weekend some tinkering ahead, that is brilliant guys, great advice and it's raining here so indoors
  15. Awesome! Will give it a go Cheers BC1221
  16. Dang! Ok so take the red pill and delve deeper into the movement with my trusty Swiss Army knife and mess it up even more which is not a problem as it's messed up anyway... I like the suggestion of unscrewing the crown a little automatico as it gets to a point where the hands wind backwards jumpily when pulled out to the first notch which may suggest it's not engaging properly or maybe HaydenM your are absolutely right the keyless works are stuffed or take the green pill and buy a new 2813 or DG38? Then face the wrath of removing the hands and dial which I've never done but could be a first and again trying to shove the stem into the movement Two equally attractive options! I am still in awe of the many good forum members here who are so adapt at this A blue pill option would be nice but it's not gonna happen So into the rabbit hole I go.... Will let you know how I get on when I can convince my better half the necessity of why I have to spend lots of time on this very important project!
  17. Hi there, should have left the damn cover on the back!!! Was originally just going to see the movement... Assuming its a DG28??? Then I decided to remove the crown and stem, then big mits here tried to put it back and hey presto doesn't work now... Clearly and indication for more fiddling! Many thanks for the help
