  1. Has anyone found a decent GMT Root Beer from one of the TD's? I have been on the lookout for one. I bought an el cheapo to mod and the crown tube hole is too big for the gen crown that I bought for it.
  2. To be honest they look pretty good considering how old they are. Reps have come along way in recent years. You can get a whole lot more for your money these days though.
  3. Looks the same to me, minus the old dial being gilt.
  4. I agree. Rolex has made some stupid decisions lately. I'm still worked up over the white gold Pepsi.
  5. Wow Rolex, way to take what I considered one of the most iconic and more easily accessible of their watches and make it a pipe dream for your average enthusiast. Now it's like the smurf.
  6. I vote for the loose one as well based on the shape of the two. I'm no vintage expert though and these two are so close. The color on the one mounted looks almost too sparkly if that makes sense/
  7. May I ask which TD this one came from? Thanks!
  8. I would try a few different quickset epoxies, or maybe work with different ratios of catalyst, I have seen epoxy come out with almost the right shade of yellow for that vintage pearl look. UV exposure will increase the effect as well.
  9. Quite simply the case profile from the photos looked strange to me and the end link fit looked odd. They aren't the best photos or angles though either. Seems like everything is resolved and all parties are satisfied anyway.
  10. That doesn't look like a TC case or bracelet to me. End links look really bad.
  11. Mine had the same problem and I had to send it back to China. If it ever comes back I am going to put a swiss heart in it.
  12. Yea, that thing is better than some reps that I have seen lately. A new crystal with proper mag and a nice dwo would go a long way.
  13. I ran out of ! stock. Watches look amazing. I was sad to see your thread selling off all of your dial stock. Your work is amazing.
  14. That model has an engraved rehaut which is wrong as well. The GMT Master didn't have engraved rehaut until the 116710 model, the GMT-2C
  15. If you ask me, the best route is to get a model with a DG2813. You are going to pay about 100.00 less than you would for the A28xx model and about 200.00 less than the "Swiss" models., With the money that you save there you can find a genuine ETA in decent shape from Ebay and have it installed. The Asian ETA clones can work fine but like anything that comes in a rep they will need a good cleaning and servicing 99% of the time.
  16. It's a shame that people take advantage of each other like this. I'm getting real tired of pieces of [censored] like this getting away with stealing from genuine and good members of our community.
  17. I have had a higher failure rate with the A2836/A2824 than the DG2813 movements. That said, I prefer to buy my own Swiss movements and have them installed myself by a trusty watchsmith.
  18. The thing about Alaska is it is really like living in your own separate country. This state is massive. I personally live here because I like the solitude, don't miss traffic, and there is so much to do if you are an outdoorsman. The best hunting and fishing in North America, hands down. People live in Alaska because we love it. You have to earn the right to live here and putting up with the weather is the cost of admission. If living here were easy, more people would be here. You find a different breed of people up here.
  19. Looks great, just got my DJ back from Matt. He will have my business forever, awesome guy to work with!
  20. To each their own. I have never personally worn it myself, but take no issue with anyone who does. I think it's rude to call a fellow less than a man for his personal grooming habits. Just my two cents.
  21. The Tudor Black Bay is a fine Gen and it's in that price range as well if you are into that kind of thing. I love the 14270, I have the rep with no case holes and I wear it all the time. 36mm is a fine size for a watch and like you said, no-dates with smooth bezels seem to wear larger.
  22. It's funny when Rolex noobs get their first Rolex, the VERY FIRST thing they complain about is the bracelet quality. I got news for you, Gens feel the same way. I have rep and gen bracelets and the gens feel like pieces of [censored] too. Rolex is notorious for having flimsy feeling bracelets. Enjoy the watch, I wouldn't waste too many tears over the bracelet.
  23. Love the black IPA, but Glacier Brewhouse IPA is my all time favorite local brew!
  24. Do a search for "mymanmatt", he can hook you up proper I believe. He specializes in Datejusts and may have some knowledge of Daydates.
