  1. Indeed, servicing the watch is what I wish to do. I recently rebuilt the watch and feel confident that there are no broken parts, and the watch was also lubricated at that time. Strange that the watch always stops with the second hand at exactly the same point, yet there is no contact between the second hand an any part of the dial or other hands. Phil
  2. Hi All, I have the aforementioned watch, that had been running fine for about 6 months but now keeps on stopping. When it stops, the second hand (at the 9 o'clock position) is always showing "10 seconds past" I have checked and the hand is not sticking or making contact with the dial or anything on the dial face. A quick tap starts it working again but before too long it stops. I do not ever use the chronograph features ;-) What I have checked... Reversing wheel and click Main click Oscillating pinion Clutch Balance and escapement Any ides would be most welcome and appreciated! Thank you Phil
  3. Ok - got it working better. It is now keeping good time although sometimes the watch just stops running and needs a jolt to get it going again. It always stops with the second hand pointing at "10 seconds". This happens about once every 36 hours. The actual hands are free and not obstructed. Any troubleshooting tips would be most welcome? Thank you Phil
  4. Thanks guys, I am amassing a nice set of assembly photos that I shall post shortly! I obtained a swiss pinion and fitted it yesterday, but having a hard time adjusting it. I can turn the eccentric adjuster to the recommended 2/3 tooth depth and the chrono works nicely, however when I stop the chrono the watch stops (with the second hand always at the same 10s mark) after a few minutes. If I adjust the adjuster to give me a smooth running watch the chrono does not run. I have gone back and forth on this many times. I have a good amplitude on the balance and without the oscillating pinion installed the watch is running beautifully. Any ideas? Thank you Phil
  5. Thanks SSteel, No - the oscillating pinion is the double geared shaft that clutches back and forth to engage the chronograph second hand. I need that part (Valjoux part number is 8086) Phil
  6. Anyone have an oscillating pinion for an Asian 7750 movement for sale? Preferably close to Los Angeles.
  7. No luck - had to remove dial and reassemble keyless works. Took the opportunity to completely take apart and clean / oil the movement, but not without cost.
  8. Thank you - I still have to try to find out if the Swiss and Asian parts of this type are interchangeable, before I make a purchase... Phil :-)
  9. I have an Asian 7750 chronograph movement - copy of a Valjoux, and the pallet fork has a broken axle pin on one side. Does anyone know where I can get another? Will a real Valjoux part fit? A watch parts store here in Los Angeles told me that the genuine part will not fit an Asian movement. Thank you for your help Phil
  10. Hi Freddy, I meant the setting lever jumper plate (strange auto correct in the last post!), that is the part that screws over the keyless works and has the spring bar that provides tension for the release pin (the setting lever). I was bending the spring part slightly to ensure that the setting lever was firmly locating into the stem groove. I may have to rebuild it again and to do some careful examination of all the parts and the workings of the mechanism. Thanks! Phil
  11. Thank you Freddy, There were also some "stickies" holding the dial to the top plate, but all went well. I rebuilt the keyless works to re-align the stem, but the problem is actually not that - the stem actually does not want to stay in the watch! It seems to function correctly during the assembly, but then it comes out with little force when trying to set the hour time. I have now rebuilt it 3 times making minor adjustments to the spring on the setting level jumber. It is barely holding on but once the crown is screwed down, and the hour time has been set it is not an immediate issue. If you have any ideas they would be most appreciated ;-) Thanks again, Phil
  12. Hi Freddy333, Can you please tell me how to remove the dial form these Asian 7750 movements ? I need to reset my keyless and cannot find any securing screws. Thank you Phil
  13. Hi all, Removed the movement from my secs @9 11650 Daytona Rep to center a chrono hand, which I did without any problem. However, now I cannot re-insert the winding stem. I suspect that the keyless mechanism may have gone out of alignment. Please can someone help me with a walk through - I am hoping that I will not have to remove the dial and hands to get down to the base plate... eek! Thank you Phil
  14. I hear you Jimmy, A little about myself... I have some really nice genuine watches, such as a Pasha chromo Automatic and a vintage automatic gold Longines, but I travel a lot and am reluctant to take my nice watches when I go to South America or parts of Europe - that is why I am looking for a nice rep watch. Shame about the Daytonas as I would love to have one for travel purposes. I wish they could make the movements better. Buying a vintage would be good but I would still feel nervous about traveling with it... ...my predicament :-( Thanks guys, Phil
  15. I read it - what a really good explanation of the changes over time! I guess the @9 can be an ok pass for an earlier 16520 apart from the dial spacing. Perhaps I am better off with that more reliable @9 movement rather than the @6 even though the @6 looks fantastic! ...anyone know how good (or bad) the @9 looks? In the photos I see online the dial seems very bright white with a vague bluish hue to it - looks plastic like. Thanks Phil
