  1. J-code 302 4v. The engine was rebuilt along time ago and we actually found some NOS J code heads. Also added hi-po exhaust manifolds and a Holman Moody dual plane intake. It will need some freshening up. The only rust it had was where the hood hinges lay at the inner rear aprons. 4 spots about the size of a quarter. The deck lid and hood will require some fiberglass work but they are genuine Shelby items. The frt valance is NOS Shelby that my dad bought in 1978. A NOS Shelby frt valance sold a few months back on eBay for $5500.00.
  2. Sorry, I don't know what IIRC is. I could use a movement or 2.
  3. Ok, you guys talked me into it, black it is. I just wanted to see what the blue one looked like. I've seen a couple Tudor Subs over the years with blue inserts. I received my Sub hands today. I was holding off on repainting the marker inserts till they arrived. I wasn't sure if they were sending me aged or white. They came in white so I'll match the white and repaint the markers. I'm still kind of wondering how you MBW mod'ers attach your dial to the movement (my dial has no dial feet like a MBW Sub). I bought some dial dots and they were no help, to small and thin. What ever I use to adhere the dial needs to be strong enough to hold but still be able to remove the dial without bending it. There just isn't much room on the 2836-2 for bonding. I was thinking of making spacers the correct thickness and adhereing them to the movement where ever possible then bonding the dial to the spacers. Thin styrene plastic spacers cut to fit??? Any suggestions? I assume the spots I've marked in red are safe? (not a functioning movement, just for reference)
  4. Resurrection! The GMT has come back to life. Not sure what happened, maybe dirty movement??? Hasn't missed a beat since last night. Time will tell.
  5. Well after I bragged on it in one of By-Tors posts my GMT with the gen bracelet croaked last night. I wound it and shook it and the second hand barely moves. Good thing I bought another for back up. Since I redrilled this case for the gen bracelet, I'm just gonna swap movements. I was thinking about repainting the markers and hands white while it's out for a more gen appearance (lume is not a big deal to me). R.I.P. Omega Seamster GMT 3/10/2007-11/18/2007
  6. I've bought several from Silix. The red 1680 I bought from them is the best performing watch I have ever had (even gens). Silix is #1 to me...no complaints. Two of the 3 watches in my sig came from Silix. Both Rollies but the UPO came from Brand9ave
  7. Maybe if Overhaulin paid me a visit I'd end up with something like this:
  8. If someone asked me which movie car I would pick to be mine, of course my choice would be the Bullitt Mustang. Today I was looking through some old pictures and found a picture of my 1968 Mustang from 1976 (when my Dad owned it). It actually looks like an old mix between an Eleanor and a Bullitt Mustang. This J code Mustang had a bunch of genuine Shelby parts put on it in the early 70s along with some nasty customizing. It was my first car but I never drove it. We were going to restore it and make it all the way Shelby. Obviously we never finished and it's sit in my garage since. The good news is that even though it looks a little rough, it is rust free and low miles. Maybe I could get it going if I could stop spending $$$ on reps! (even though it is a rep too!) Then: Now: With my bike: The good news is I did end up with a 68 Mustang as my first driver:
  9. Dang it. See what you've done! I've pulled out my 1655 parts and now I'm wondering where I can a movement for it so I can start the mods. Thanks alot .
  10. Well since my other projects are on hold, my "spare parts" watch is on the bench. I'm hoping to get the case finished, crystal set and dial work done this weekend. I like to complete the case and bezel before the movement goes in so I'm trying to choose which look I like better. It's either going to have the blue insert with a black NATO or black insert with an olive NATO. I'm leaning towards the first since I already have my 5517 on an olive strap. C what ya think: Spare parts watch "Fantasy Tudor Hydro 5517" 5517 rep case with pointy cgs Replacement T39 crystal Gen Tudor Hydronaut dial in "so-so" condition 2836-2 movement Unfortunately I can't go any further till I get my hands in. My supplier keeps sending me the wrong ones. As I have said before, if I don't get them soon I'll use the 5517 sword hands.
  11. Definate improvement. The mag really sucks on those rep crystals. I have the same watch watch with a dead movement. If I can find a movement I may do what you've done to mine. If not, I may sell the pieces so someone else can have a project. I don't know much about the 1655 but I've heard these reps aren't the greatest but I still like them even though the dial is a little busy. When mine did work, it was hard to tell exactly what time it was. Great job! Now there will be many more projects.....trust me!
  12. I think this is the way they affected me the last time I drank them http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=571_1195079922
  13. Dang By Tor, you do really like the GMTs. After my 2 bad deals on 1655s I'm out. My 2 Omega GMTs are still cranking though . Very nice. Maybe I'll try another one day!
  14. Good ol' Azgjav from down under. He has a sweet a$$ 3-6-9 5513 and is still chasing the gilt . Hopefully he will post more here, he has a cool project in the works!
  15. Boy, that brings back some memories. Your's looks just like the 80s vintage gen 5513 I had several years ago, except my pearl was missing (maybe that's why I take all of mine out??). As far as your statements about "Justasgood", I feel the same way. As I have said here before, I ended up smashing my gen 5513 against a concrete wall and boy was that costly. Had I known then what I know now, I could have fixed it myself. It wouldn't bother me near as much to damage a rep. The good news for me is that I am finally confident enough with my watch skills that I am going to get a MBW next. I have disassembled and mod'ed to the point now that it is no big deal. The 5513 is my goal and though it may not be accurate, a MBW with a NDTRADING dial may be my only option (at least on my budget). One thing about it, I've enjoyed "vintaging" rep so much when I do get my 5513, it will look 30-40 years old. I just can't help it. Great work and yes, I am very jealous!
  16. Arrgggg! I can't wait. You know I'm going to be jealous! My 5513 still illudes me!
  17. The other night I saw where cib0rgman had a few movements for sale so I bought one. I thought that if a had a good movement, I'd have enough spare parts to put a fantasy watch of some sort together. I started to put my 1655 Explorer II dial into a Sub case with Sub hands and a non-GMT movement. I fitted it and it looked pretty good, but kinda cheesy. It looked more like a cheap inaccurate rep that could be seen on a "Show us your worst Sub rep" post. So bailed on that one and came up with this. A 5517 Sub case with a Tudor Hydronaut dial. I bought this dial a while back and put into a 16610 Sub. The problem was it was slightly to small and moved around in the case no matter what I did. The dial fits the 5517 case perfectly. I have a replacement T39 I never used so it's going on this one. I'll probably dullcoat the dial and use a bleached blue bezel insert. And just for kicks, I'm going to make the cgs "pointy". I haven't made up my mind wheather I'm going to use Sub hands or sword hands from a 5517. We'll see!
  18. I was wondering if anybody knew what size dial they have? One of them has a dial I'd like for one of my projects. Any other thoughts on these?
  19. Well maybe I left a few facts out that made it sound different that the way it really happened...I was in a hurry at lunch when I was posting this but there were threats being made by the thug that more or less gave the man no choice. My main point was that I was reminded that there are times (and places) that I may slip my rep off in my pocket to avoid attention and being a target. Just something to think about.
  20. Ok, I'll play. I don't have it anymore because I immediatly returned to Andrew when I received it. I ordered his 14060 based on the pics on his site (which showed a fairly decent 14060M). I received a total piece of crap. No lugholes, terrible fonts, bad rehaut and the list goes on. This watch is the reason I no longer buy from Andrew. He actually had the nerve to tell me this was a very accurate rep.
  21. A local jewelery store owner was the victim of a home invasion. A thug (who was from another state) who had a long past of criminal activity cased his business and home. He ended up holding the owners wife at gunpoint in their home for a Rolex valued at $10000.00. The thug told the husband he was going to shot his wife and the husband responded that he was going to get his gun and shoot him first. The husband went to his car and came back in to find his wife shot. The bullet went through her shoulder and into her chest. She is now in critical condition. The local police caught the guy but I it kind of makes you think. Wearing a rep in the wrong places could cause us to be a victim. It would be hell to be shot over a crappy asian rep!
  22. Well since my 5513 project is on hold again, I ended up replacing the crystal in my 5517. This crystal is a perfect fit and really looks great. Much better than that raised and rounded crystal that came on the watch.
