I have owned 2 rolexes based on the 2836 movts and my experience is that both watches have been complete nightmares. I have had just about every problem imaginable. I don't know if it is the factory it came from or what, but I am shying away from those movts. from now on. I am pretty sure I have doubled the cost of the very high end submariner I bought just in repairs and it still has issues.

Hey thanks so much for the advice. For now the watch is running and the time is correct on it. I will give it a crack open if it stops. I am kind of hesitant for the moment for a couple reasons; primarily because it was water proofed and pressure tested to I don't want to run the risk breaking that seal. The other obvious reason is that there is no point in messing with it until it stops running.

Hello all from Ontario, Canada! It is unfortunate my first post here relates to me having a problem. I have a brand new watch with an ETA 2836-2 movt which I just received Thursday night, I did the usual ceremony I do every-time I get a watch, fit the band, set the time, etc., no problems. Then the next day as I was sitting at my desk feeling pretty good about the nice new piece I am wearing I decided to give it a little wind. I unscrewed the crown started pulling it outward and then surprise! the whole stem came clean out of the watch! ahhhhhhhhhhh the worst feeling ever. I apologize in advance if my watch terminology is not the best but I am still going to give a crack describing at the situation: the good news is that the stem is not snapped or broken, I think the problem is that the keyless works is just not catching and engaging. When I push it in I hear clicking but when I turn the crown nothing really catches I understand from doing a bit of reading this is not the most complicated problem in the world but more so a complete pain. My question is can someone recommend me a rep safe watchmaker in Toronto? I would go at this problem like I did with my 7750 but frankly I dont have the tools to tackle this one. I cant even get in the back thanks to the brutal rolex caseback. I also understand with this movt that you have to pull the hands etc. off to actually get at the keyless works and I am not so experienced. I dont really feel all that comfortable working on this pretty expensive watch. Anyway, that is my unfortunate situation, and I am looking to hear your thoughts. Thanks!
