    Scam?

Hey People, I just came across this in the Montreal classifeds. Is this a Scam, it looks too good to be true. Diamonds and gold for $2900???
  2. @phaedo Beeps usually point towards a hardware failure fo some sort. My question to you would be - When does it beep? When you boot it, when you hit a key on the kybrd, when you perform a certain operation? Hardware beeps usually happen during the POST (booting of the system before the OS kick in). If this is the case, listen for the morse code hidden behind the beeps You should hear dits and dots, this will = a code which can be found in the users manual of the mobo (motherboard).
  3. Sure do, Lemmie know if you want to see more.
  4. I have to stand with Lani on what he said. Any dog that may be greviously harmed by me stepping on it is out of the question. Showt of that I love all dogs. Have a female Beagle at the moment named Mocha. Had a Beagle b4 that by the name of Zorro (was a rescue). Mocha is a bit pig headed, Zorro was the best buddy anyone could have asked for. As for my stand on pits... I have met more friendly pitbulls in my life than friendly people. AND a dog can be bad natured just as a person can be bad natured, I don't beleive it has anything to do with the race, but more with the training and or the natural disposition of that particular dog.
  5. Hey all, I had previously posted this in the Supporters area and have decided to move it here where all the Rolex pros are. I have this Explorer II (incorrect hand stack). The movement died a while back and I am wondering what I can do with this short of using it as a paper weight? If I give it a shake - the seconds hand "might" tick for about 5 secs Winding does nothing. I guess the bottom line is; Would it be feasible to bring it back to life, or should I chuck it? or trade it?
  6. *see previous post* OK - I have scanned the manual and created a PDF with it. Unfortunately it is 4MB so I cannot upload it here. If anyone is interested in receiving it, PM mw with your email address and I will send it your way. This is an original scan of a prestine condition 1968 Breitling Navitimer manual with all the instructions on using the bezel functions.
  7. Hi Victoria, The problem couls be a multitude of things Bios version Bad motherboard Bad power supply Unlikely but possible (I've seen this b4) bad brand new HD It could also be that your CPU heat sink is clogged with dust, causing the CPU to overheat and shut down. Bad memory can also cause this type of behavior. Does your system let out any kind of audible "beeps" when this happens? Estimates costs; Bios version = Free Bad motherboard = +/- $150 Bad PSU = +/- $100 HD = you know the cost of that already CPU heat sink = the cost of an "air in a can" canister and the know-how on finding and dismanteling the CPU and heat sink.
  8. I own a 111e from Angus It's 2 thumbs up, great watch! Mind you Angus has been unresponsive lately, he owes me some coin and is pushing the limits of my patience. Just a word to the wise. About sourcing parts to build an Ultimate, you got me, this aspect of reps is more confusing to me that than Panerai trivia. Robb
  9. This is a wonderful topic - very informative! I have a question concerning this; I used to own a Timex with a Bezel function. This function was used to find North,South, East, West - All you needed was the sun. The memory is vague, but it went something like this. point the hour hand at the Sun, move the bezel to a specific location depending on the where the hour hand was and you owuld have your NSEW. Anyone ever see this, or know if this functionality is available on luxury replicas? BTW - I have a genuine Navitimer Cosmonaute Official Timepiece of the aircraft Owners' and Pilots' Association (A.O.P.A.) owners manual. As soon as I have a moment I will scan the bezel instructions and post the pice here. Robb
  10. I was thinking of purchasing from TWP, A while back I contacted TWP requesting information on a purchase. The answers were delayed longer than was acceptable and I eventually opted out. As of late i had been reconsidering dealing with him anew as he is located in the States and I am in Canada.. But all this hoopla is making me rethink if I want to do business with him or not too bad...
  11. @TWP I am far from being a photographer and or a WIS for that matter, but there is one thing I am certain of. When taking pictures of a watch with a Macro lens, and asking forum members to "scrutinize" the pictures, it would be in your best interest, to be certain that the pictures and the piece being photographed is perfect. Having dust in the picture, if it is dust, and having some spotty areas where lume is missing ect... does not a modder make. Just my 2 cents
  12. Hello All, I know AI is tacky, but the wife watches it, so I get sucked in every once and a while. Has anyone noticed what is on their wrists? What is Randy wearing this season What is Seacrest wearing? What is Simon wearing?
  13. Hello Lani, I PM's TT yesterday evening, but it did not show up in my sent items... IU tried again today, and the same thing. Who should I be contacting for payment! BTW - If you made a mistake in calling the auction off ahead of time... I have nothing against you continuing it.. I'm not picky, nor do I want to make anyones life more difficult. I kinda feel bad about it. Thanks!
  14. Woohoo! Thanks a bunch for the oprotunity to help the forum and for the SMP. There's actually a story here as I have an Explorer II that died a while back and have been trying to get my dealer to replace it for an SMP. Well, the dealer is MIA and has been for the past few months. The SMP was indeed the next piece on my list, amazing how fate turns out!!! Thanks again and I am looking forward to receiving it. Robb
  15. Hello, OK, if I bid $150 will you guys stop bumpung this thread? $150 it is! Robb AKA Flamemax
  16. I love this watch and have been wanting one for a while now. Might as well spend my money where it will do some good !!! I'm in for $140 Thanks Lani! Robb AKA Flamemax
  17. You'r very lucky to have received sucha wonderful gift!! On the same note, my grandfather game me his (which was handed down to him by his father)rail road pocket watchI will have to have a look at it again, but if I recall correctly it's a Waltham. Aren't gifts like that the greatest!!!
  18. I'm more of a motorcycle guy myself. Was riding a beefed up V-Max for several years. I am currently in between bikes. Next bike will be the Hayabusa with a 1.3l engine. it WILL get modified and a swing arm will be stretched and a turbo kit will be added bringing this beast up to about 375hp at the rear wheel on about 500lbs wet. this shoudl all be comong together come summer. PS don't get me wrong, I love cars as well, but to get the same HP to weight ratio in a car would cost wlll over 70,000. With the bike, it will only cost me about 20000 and it will 1/4 mile in high 8's :Dperhaps even high 7's
  19. Hello Screech, I do not know where you got your PAM from so I do nto know if your dealer can provide the screws or not. I do know for a fact that Angus has these and can be provided at a minimal cost. I'm not sure I would want to be striping the screw holes, with a forcefitted screw. I'm sure this will have am effect as to the resale value of your PAM. Just food for thought I guess... Kindest regards,
  20. Thanks to everyone who responded. I pulled the trigger on the 20-39PCi last night. Once I calibrate the sub and break it in for a spell I will let you all know how it sounds. From what i hear... this $800 sub is comparable to subs that are worth double if not 3 times the amount.
  21. Velodyne ROCKS!!! Unfortunately, the 12" is huge and outta my league @ $1700
  22. One other thing I would liek to add... just to make sure no one gets misled.. the 10" and 12" inch comparison mentioned above stands quite true if you are looking at 2 subs a 10" and a 12" in the same price point. What usually happens ia a marketing thing.. Manufacturer X sells a 10" sub driven with a 150W RMS amp in a $499 price point.. this is uaually fine for a ported 10 sub Manufacturer Y sells a sub 12" inch sub with a 150w RMS amp in a $499 price point.. In this case, yes, the 10" will have much more potential to fire quickly than the 12". But now, up the price point ($799) and drive the 12" with, say... 500W RMS, now the potential has switched hands and the 12" will fire as quickly as the 10" What do you think they use in theatres? ever get the feeling you were missing out on the rapid fire machine gun, in terms of bass? I think not. :)0
  23. Thanks all for the responses... Infinity, polk, KEF, Energy, Velodyne (out of my price point for what i want) Mirage and JBL all have their strong points, well, except for JBL maybe. All of these brands have their strong points, bit they so not specialize in Subs. SV Sound, specialized in Subwoofers, and have beat out many other subs in audioholics reviews and home theatre forums revires. Search for finnish subwoofer review and you will see what I mean. My price point is around $750 all included. for the 20-39PCi. This is a 12" woofer in a cylinder configuration driven by a 300W RMS BASH amp. These guys are specialists in what they do. My other choice was the EP350 from Axiom Audio. About the specs on paper... well, you can't really argue with a proper test and comparsion done with a SPL meter by a 3rd party Check out the google search I mentioned above and you will see. 10's or 12'... Hmmm, I can't say I agree. Subsonic audio is all about moving air, the bigger your speaker (properly configured and driven) the more air it will displace, hence, more "felt" base. 10's are also flatter than 10's thoughout all of the sunsonic range. I know there is "much" more to it than that and there are many many variables that can come into play. But suffice is to say... 2 sube identical in quality and properly engineered, the 12 will always be louder and have the potential to go lower. There are quite a few movies out there that go into the 14, 15, 16hz range, you have no idea what you're missing until you hear it I am almost convinced on m purchase... but wanted to confirm the hype about SVS in a neutral env. and as always RWG partons have added their 2 cents. About screwing everything down in my HT room... I'm game for that!! Bigger is almost always better, hey! just look at PAM's
  24. Thanks for the feedback! I'm looking for something that puts out a bit more in the 15hz and up range... I see that the Mirage starts throwing our sound at 21hz. Also, I'm going for a 12", the 10" 's crossed my mind, but I'm afraind that it will leave me wanting more and I would eventaully break down and get a 12' .
  25. Hey Folks, I've been shopping for a HT subwoofer for a little while now and I think I have decided on a SV Sound 20-39. Anyone have any experience with this product? Kindest regards,
