  2. Hello All, This may not be the correct forum for this post, if not my apologies. :Moderator, please let me know if this is not ok and where to direct my query. Who here can repair watches and how much would you charge me if I sent you my Rolex Explorer II (unidentified movement) for repair? I can set the minute/hour hand, the GMT hand and the date but the darn thing will not wind, it's like it is jammed when I try to wind it. I Opened it up and could not notice anything off kilter except for the "gear" that is attached to the "mini" gear in the crown stem" will not turn the bigger "gear" that winds the "spring" (sorry but I am not in the know on all the part names). Any help on this would be much appreciated. The watch is about 3 months old. I'm in Montreal, Canada. Thanks in advance! Robb/AKA Flamemax
  3. Ubi, I have had the same thing happen to my Rolex ExplorerII (I do not know when the movement is, but I am pretty sure it is not Swiss, no markings or identification). I opened it last night to see if I could find a loose screw, no go. I can set the time, the GMT hand and the date, but it will not wind. If I give it a shake(then wear it), the seconds hand will tick for about an hour and then stop. What could be the problem? Anyone? I am ready to send this watch to The Zigmeister, or anyone else willing to fix it, but would also like to try my hand at it. I am very mechanically inclined and can follow instructions very well. I will also not hold anyone responsible for giving me information that will lead to a broken watch . Thanks
  4. This is some very cool information! OK, this might sound corny For those of you who have done this, can you describe your first time and what it was like? were you nervous? what went wrong? If it were possible, what would you change abourt that experience? Thanks! Robb AKA Flamemax
  5. Perhaps not a "Hair gun" but I am 100% sure that a good ole' canadian tire heat gun (one used for shrinking heat shrink) would do the trick just fine. Ubi mentioned this technique in the Rolex area and I just might try it. My problem will be realigning the cyclops... I would not want have to remove and replace the cyclops 2 dozen times just to get it spot on. Where would one purchase UV Glue? Kindest regards,
  6. Hello, You mentioned that one of the major defects was the dial, what exactly is the defect on the dial. I know that mine does not have the Rolex and the Perpetual X/L line up, but that's it. Yours seems to have the proper configuration... what am I missing? Kindest regards, Robb AKA Flamemax
  7. Duh! I should have picked up on those, but the QC threw me off, in these parts is QA Yes - I will take more pics on Saturday. I work I'm a manager for IT Operations, so I'm sure some of you can understand that I do not get to see much daylight. The issues are indeed QC related. And I guess I could kill 2 birds with one stone by opening the watch, removing the black particle under the crystal and "attempt" to pur everything back straight. I just hope that the Cyclops being offset is due to the crystal being a bit off and not because the cyclopy is glued on at an angle on the crystal. My other issue with this would be ... how would I align it, are there tricks of the trade, any particular measurements I can take to make my alignment scientific instead of "eyeing it" ? Context - i would want to be able to put the crystal and the bezel back so that they are *spot* on!
  8. @PUG: Hey Pug, Thanks for chiming in, I have been reading your posts and just so you know, you have gained my respect. As for your post, I am not sure I understand, this dealer was local, and there were no pictures transferred before I purchased, we met in a coffee shop, he pulled the watch our of his pocket, I pulled the money our of mine, we chatted for a short while ( I made a mention of this forum ) and we were both on our way. In short, I was blinded by excitement. The sores on the watch started to appear hours later as I got home from work and unwinded a bit. So, about what you said, I shoudl try to correct the flaws myself or forget about it? You said "If I can't fix it myself, back it goes" and "if it is the same as the picture, it's my problem" I say: I would like to fix it myself, but lack some experience - there was no picture. Thanks again to any and all who help a n00b with this dilemma. I am also wondering what to expect form my dealer.. is it SOP for dealers to correct issues such as this?
  9. Hey Woody, Did that already. Check the Rolex area under "Explorer II known flaws" The quality of the pics is not the best (no lightbox) but I will post more on Saturday when I can take some pics outside in daylight. Thanks.
  10. Hi Corgi, My dealer is local, and I saw the watch before transferring $$. The problem is 2 fold, I'm a n00b to replicas and in the excitement of receiving my first watch, I lost my keen eye for details, accepted the watch and was on my way. Once the excitement settled, I inspected the watch (well b4 I could inspect it, it fell off my wrist due to a stripped screw in the bracelet) and noticed the afore mentioned issues. I guess my question is, what has your experience been when asking for corrections on a purchased watch, are dealers usually receptive to this? Kindest regards,
  11. Hello All, I am wondering how badly flawed a watch has to be before you guys consider returning it? Will you only return a watch if it has flaws outside of the scope of "being an identical replica", for instance a scratch, a stripped screw in the bracelet or better yet (my situation) a very badly aligned cyclops. Just to put everyone in context I received an Explorer II (white face) the day before yesterday and the cyclops is very misaligned. There is also a black fleck on the inside of the crystal (microscopic in nature, but i can see it and it bothers me). The watch has other problems like the X on Rolex not aligning with the L in Perpetual as well as the crown being too big, but I can live with these flaws. Thanks for any advice on how to deal with this. PS if any of you have DIY fixes for this, I am all ears. Kindest regards,
  12. @ JJFlash: Are you saying that because you beleive that is the movement that I have in mine? How would I tell if there are no markings. Dumb question time: Are there any models that are known to not have markings? Thanks!
  13. This is a link to some pics I uploaded. I know they are bad and I apologize for that. I will do bettere on the weekend in some daylight. <a href="http://allyoucanupload.webshots.com/v/2002261671865977155"><img border="0" src="http://aycu29.webshots.com/image/13108/2002261671865977155_th.jpg" alt="Free Image Hosting at allyoucanupload.com"/></a>
  14. @Who As soon as I get some half decent pics I wull post them in this thread. I have some pics now.. but they did not come out very well. I think you misunderstood what I said about the movement, there are no (zip, nada, zilch, zero) markings that I could see on the movement. None at all. Everything is grey-metal color, no bronze or gold colors. The spacer is white plastic. That's all the info I could get from looking at it. No ID No Brand No Model number any thoughts? Kindest ergards, Robb AKA Flamemax
  15. @ Who: One of the first things I did was open the case back to see what movement I was going to find within. To my dismay there is not one marking or identifier so I am not quite sure how to identify the movement. If anyone has any pointers as for the identification of the movement, I am all ears. I know I do not have the correct hand stack, I thought I mentioned that in my last post On a side note - you state it is form China, that is very possible, bur perhaps one of you fellas can enlighten me... Ya'll say I got this watch form that dealer... I am assuming that all the dealers on this forum, import their watches form China (or whereever) then go on to tweak the watch to make it more believable and then go on to sell it, correct? or do the dealers on this forum build from scratch? I have been pondering this question for a while and any clarification would be appreciated! Cheers Robb AKA Flamemax
  16. Hello, I received the Exploere II yesterday. The dealer is a local fella I found here in Montreal, he imports from Japan, so I do not think the watch was built by any dealer on this forum . This is my first "replica" purchase, and I really wanted to see it before I bought it, that is why I purchased locally. First thing I noticed is that the X in ROlex does not line up with the L of perpetual. Second thing, the magnifier bubble is a "very little bit" offset. I'm not crazy about the bracelet, seems a bit chinsy.. edges are sharp, and I do not like the way is fastens (clips). Hand stack is as follows from the face up --> GMT, hour, minute, seconds I beleive the correct hand-stack should be hour, minute, GMT, seconds? right? I made an attempt at pictures last night, but the did not come out so well.. (I do not have a light box) I will make another attempt on the weekend in the sunlight, and post as soon as I have some good pics. Oh, the other thing is that the grown seems a bit thick, it is above the crown guards by about 1.2 to 2mm. The Bezel is the comon one io assume as the font is not as bold as the gen. The little black triangles on the bezel are in the right location however. The settings are as follows --> C0 wind, C1 date, C2 GMT, C3 hour- minute Kindest regards, Robb AKA Flamemax
  17. Hello All, I should be receiving a white faced Expl II very shortly, like in an hour or so. I have been told that the GMT hand is completely adjustable. I will send in some pics once I get my paws on it. Kindest regards,
  18. Hello All, Dumb question, why does someone (MOD @ RWG) just remove "the un-named one's" rights to admin the forum This would seemingly be the simple-est resolution ???
  19. Anyone???? Does anyone have exp. with tritium... is it usually applied as a liquid or a powder?
  20. HAHA - no flames here... the name makes reference to my motorcycle...a yamaha vmax with flames painted on it. It makes no reference to the "flame" term used on the net. Thanks for the kind welcome!
