  1. Nice review, only query is bezel fix -

'5 minutes under normal afternoon sun...glue becomes soft'

Not in the NE of England it doesn't, it's got more risk this year of becoming rusty! :black_eye: (I used a hairdrier on my old SMP for the same effect.)

I agree with you on that score. Geordie land is the coldest place on earth, even Nanuq would be at home there. Lancashire isn't much warmer although it's a lot wetter!!!!!

  2. Hello,

I would like to hear your opinions about the MBW 1665.

Which one is the most "perfect" rep in your eyes, which dial

is closest to the original thing?

The Great white or the DRSD?

Would be great to hear something about that from you!

    Kind regards

    Chris

  3. Hey,

was sure about getting that SMP chrono due to dial looks/ accuracy...

But .... can you wear that 17mm THING with under your dress shirt cuffs?

I had a PO... which is thick... I had a Navitimer which is thick too! But this SMP chron is even THICKER!?

Is this a watch that you would buy as gen for everday wear? Or did Bond choose the SMP wisely for his ops ;)

Buy a short sleeved shirt. Who wants to hide that beauty!!!!!!! I have just got one from Josh and is virtually perfect, so why hide it.

  4. A misalligned datewheel is jsut absolutely NO indication for a rep... have you seen any genuine Rolex Sherrington? Misalligned bezel inserts, dusty dials, no accurately at 12:00 clicking date, poor bracelet quality, and many many misalligned dates...

I have seen and handled plenty. It's obvious from your comments that you haven't. As freddy says it depends on the way the light throws shadows on the date window. If you look through a loupe and directly over the top in diffused light then they are perfectly centred. :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  5. You probably know my opinion already!! I much prefer the rounded 3 datewheel, mainly because it's more accurate, much better printing and perfectly centred on every number (just like my Luenfat datewheel). I agree that the first thing that stands out a mile is a poorly centred date which screams "REP".

  6. I'm sorry you're disappointed but a couple things need to be cleared up.

The short version: The font is perfect. The printing blows away what was on your watch when you bought it, and it's printed to 1/2800 of an inch accuracy to originals. The material ain't paper. But is is water resistant, won't fade in the sun and is as close to anything you'll ever see without remaking an original wheel through the same process--and you'll never see one of those for 30 bucks.

  7. Well I think some members here won't like my reply but for what it's worth here it is:-

I received 2 datewheels today, as ordered. As soon as I opened them I realised they are printed onto paper and not metal. I put one on an old Eta datewheel I had and installed it into my 1680. When I looked through the cyclops I was very disappointed. The edges of all the numbers were blurred and jagged due to ink bleeding into the paper. You just don't get this the same on a vintage genuine metal datewheel. The watch looks....well fake. I contacted one of the Watchmeisters only to be told they would only refund the unused one even though the only way to find out they were not good enough was to fit one into a watch. Maybe you can just about get away with installing one into a 1665 with no cyclops but not a 1680 Sub.

So maybe I lose out on $30 but that's life, I suppose.
