  1. Actually I believe it too, but not sure about this specific one: in my view TDs with good web sites (this hasn't one - no, he's not Sead) have much more business: on average people buy looking at the interesting products much more than asking with an email and not being sure of what may come out in the QC pics. Thanks Mike, please don't rush... I waited 5 months, I still can wait few months
  2. I hope so, the sea was force 9 this morning, with 20ft waves. The problem is mainly a time factor: it looks that now they managed to kill the flames (or keep them under control), otherwise that metal structure will become so hot that it will be a disaster there. People on board that managed to communicate with families in Greece wrote that this morning the lower decks floors were so hot that they were melting their shoes...
  3. I'd rather avoid being aggressive now: he has my money and my watch. If I want to achieve a result, in my view, it's better to be calm and use diplomacy because otherwise it could just be too easy for him to simply close communication channels... It's a 7753 one. And yes, it sounds strange to me too. Maybe they're waiting for the hands, but there are at least 2 reps using them, and I believe that in the watch market it shouldn't be so difficult to get them (i.e. the good Sead made me to have a spare set of a watch that was considered out of stock from 4 years...). Let's see what our great MOAB may do
  4. Meantime, in Adriatic sea (around 500 people on board): More info here: http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/12/28/us-greece-ship-idUSKBN0K603J20141228
  5. Ok, let's see what he will reply to my last mail. If it is again the same (consider that I'm not stressing him: I send a mail asking for an update more or less every 20 days) then I'll ask one of our big guys for an help. Thanks!
  6. Hi Gents, in July I got a nice 328$ Omega ETNZ chrono from one of our TDs here. Unfortunately after 2 or 3 days it got a quite serious problem: one of the chrono hands detached and started to fly around on the dial. Looking carefully I've seen that it was glued to the pinion (which got broken), so I had no chances to fix it locally, because any local watchmaker would have refused to work on a thing mounted in such crazy way. Only option: send it back to the TD (actually to the factory). The watch has arrived back in China on 20/25 August (confirmed by the tracking and also by the TD). Well, 5 months have passed since then, and from some time (months) the TD is replying that the factory is still waiting for spare parts to fix it... At this point I'm not sure if this is true or what, and I'm asking your opinion about involving a mod to try to come out from this situation... Thanks, GenTLe
  7. Poor guys... By the way, here's snowing too. Damn, I don't have any feeling to out to plow...
  8. Yes, but they don't fit below the gear because of the plate shape... Even I tried with the horotec levers (the very tiny ones used for the balance [censored]) :/
  9. To you ALL too! A good Christmas, a lot of Panettone and some Franciacorta spumante!
  10. Yes. 1) Remove the bracelet and open the caseback. 2) Remove the stem (supposing it's an eta/asian 2836 look the picture below; press it VERY LIGHT or you'll mess up the keyless!!! And while you press it pull the crown and stem out) 3) Remove the movement rotor/counterweight unscrewing the central screw 4) Remove the 2 movement screws and clamps (in pink below on another movement) 5) rotate the case and tap a bit on the crystal to make the movement to come out (put a hand below!) 6) re-glue the hour indicator (I normally use a bit of bicomponent epoxy, VERY FEW -jast make it "dirty" of glue - on the bottom of the hour indicato, because if you don't put few glue, then it will spread around when you put the indicator in its place, ruining the dial) 7) fit back the stem and crown and put it in time regulation mode, make the hands to move and check that there is space between them and the hour indicators, Eventually, with a toothpick lift the touching one a bit and re-check the hands don't touch between themselves put back the crown in the winding mode and extract again the crown/stem as from point 2 9) to reassemble all do point 5 -> 1 You'll need: a) latex gloves (the ones with no talc inside!) to avoid leaving marks on the movement a working area with no dust. The cleaner the better c) a good lens or a monocle 10x e) a GOOD pair of tweezers (horological ones: very soft ones and with good sharpen ends), like bergeon or dumont ones f) a GOOD set of horological screwdrivers, like these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-A-F-SWITZERLAND-Watchmakers-5-pc-Screwdrivers-Set-w-extra-blades-Free-Ship-/360898719558?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item54073d6f46 Up to you if, seeing the costs of the needed tools, you prefer try it yourself or ask a watchmaker to do it for you...
  11. Normally it can be used. But, for example, I've a 2836 for witch that screw is totally useless (it rotates but no changes in the regulation). You can always remove the autobridge and work on the coarse regulation arm.
  12. For that gear, I used the (very sharp) end of my tweezers to push out the minute counting wheel shaft from it (after all the bridge that were keeping the minute counting wheel were removed!). For the flying spring: put a layer of cellophane over the movement and work through it (or cover your hands and the movement with a transparent layer of plastic)
  13. This is now incoming for mine: The movement, after cleaning and oiling tasks is running smoothly from 24 hours
  14. That someone (a colleague) for the 1st time time gave me a watch to service. And the watch was quite specific
  15. Oh thanks, good to know so I have read something around about the fancy crown but the picture was showing a different one. Your is like mine Thanks!
  16. They absolutely fit! Bob, a question for you: today I completely unassembled it in order to put it back in shape. One thing I'm not getting is if the crown of mine is ok or not. It is kind of very loose. It's like a rolex spring crown but assembled without the spring... After having it unscrewed from the case, I need to keep it pulled a bit in order to be able to hand wind... Is it the same in your too? Thanks, GenTLe
  17. Full ceramic IWC on the metro line
  18. Hi all, Tony - TD on RWI - has again a crazy sale I got from him a couple of crazy sales one and they were great deals!
  19. Nice one Bobcat! I spoke with my colleague, I told him "look: there are 7€ for the crown, plus the relume (which is expensive) plus a bit for my job...". He said "Ok, keep it..." I have one project and one watch more now
  20. ...you know? I kind of like it After some research I got that it's a real Russian watch, produced around 1980 (when the Soviet was in a kind of trend here in the west EU) and the whole watch line advertised as "the real Red Army watch". In reality (the Vostok was really the watches ordered for the CCCP army) the gen Red Army ones were those reporting "3aka3 mo cccp" on the dial, which means "by order of defence ministery". Anyway, I still like it
  21. Wow! Is that a gen? I didn't find it in Andrew (one of the most complete) site...
  22. BUMP! Thanks! I have a YM and didn't notice this
