  1. Please Droptopman, translate m2m into something more understandable as, at this point I'd also like to avoid get trapped into that... Tnx, GenTLe
  2. Looks very very nice and the pearl is well centered. Did you took an older model to avoid the open case back? Newest models have Seamaster in red, glass case back, different bezel and dual colour superluminova. Cheers, GenTLe
  3. I'm getting that you'd not like your pics on the forum. May I ask you why? The only thing I can imagine is some newbie to get influenced from other newbie and creating problems. But if someone is a little wiser he could filter the opinions, isn't so? Ciao, GenTLe
  4. Hi Admins, starting from yesterday eve, if I try to access the classic www.rgwforum.net from Chrome I'm being redirected to the address in the subject with a login screen named cPanel, which is a Linux hosting platform... Trying to insert the credentials of this forum desn't sort any good effect (refused credentials), and the site also is signalled as with a not verified https certificate. This happens on Chrome on my laptop (while on Firefox it works fine: I'm writing from it), on IE on my company windows mobile 8 phone, but funnily enough not on Chrome on my company workstation... Does any of you knows what's going on? Yesterday I thought it was a temporary crash but now I see it's not as I'm here on Firefox... Tnx! GenTLe
  5. Great job! But I'm also interested about the box below. Do you know what it means (it's my native language)? Is it original? And if so where the heck did you find it? :-))
  6. I see a good market here for gen-clone parts ;-) GenTLe
  7. Here in EU (but I believe it's the same in USA and other countries too) a big problem is raising, in relation to gen parts. This has been told me from at least a couple of friends that work as independent watchsmith. Practically luxury houses are operating in 2 senses: 1) with the excuse to "keep reparation at high quality levels" they're more and more reducing the furniture of gen parts to independent watchsmiths... 2) ...this is causing them not to be able to keep their shops open and to be absorbed by official brands (i.e. like a generic automotive mechanic that suddenly becomes an official Ford mechanic) 3) Once they've been branded they have fixed fees. I don't have to say they're HIGH fees... 4) On the other side, the ones that remain independent have to look for gen parts in the wide black market, where these parts are present but are priced 1000% more than the officially supplied one... So here we are. You can read some newspaper article here about it: (in Italian) http://www.ecodibergamo.it/stories/Economia/orologi-e-guerra-sui-ricambi-orologiai-contro-le-grandi-case_1056153_11/ (google translated in En) https://translate.google.it/translate?sl=it&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=it&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ecodibergamo.it%2Fstories%2FEconomia%2Forologi-e-guerra-sui-ricambi-orologiai-contro-le-grandi-case_1056153_11%2F&edit-text= Not to add that the price of a good (of ANY good) is never related to its real value but to the money people are disposed to pay for such good... Ciao, GenTLe
  8. Ah ha, got it. Well, I'm not a seller anyway, so don't really mind... ...unless the restricted areas are full of juicy secrets :-PP Tnx Mike!
  9. Welcome g_k_19! From a mediterranean cousin "una faccia una razza" hope things will get fixed soon, there: other than cousins I've more than one friend in Greece, and it's really bad seeing what's going on. Keep strong! GenTLe
  10. Eheh, you can imagine: I was coming back from Lagos (Nigeria) where i worked first 2 weeks of the new year, and decided to stop 3 full days in Instambul to wander around in Istanbul (FANTASTIC city!!!!) as a tourist while, going around in the Grand Bazaar (and I mean Grand! -> http://www.istanbultrails.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/istanbul-grand-bazaar-map-1.jpg) I got caught by a small leather shop displaying all sorts of apparently precious watches. And while I was there like a child in front of a candy shop a guy came out and asked me if I was interested. My reply has been "I don't think I can afford one of these..." and he replied: "You can, they are fake: prices from 160 to 400€ ;-))". At that point I was stepping into the "trap" of the rep hobby ;-) I think you can't really get into rep until you don't really see, touch and get greedy of something like this (ps: these are gen): Thanks Nightwatch :-)
  11. Hi Gents, some time ago I found around in my house a Sector watch, model Expander, from 1992. Like this but with SS bracelet: It is quartz based chrono and I remember I paid it around 420.000 Italian Liras, which, recalculated through the official currency revaluation tables are now corresponding to 370€ (or to 500US$). It was a bit oxidated so I decided to open it, polish the bezel, the case, clean the movement etc etc. I've found out that its movement is a Miyota 0S60 - No jewels. When I bought it I was around 18yo and didn't know anything about watches, so just went for the look (which is changed: now I'd not like such design) and the brand (at that point Sector was on the trend, thanks to advert campaign similar to current red-bull ones - his main iconic man was Patrick de Gayardon). Well, now, looking at it, I can just get how big was the gain for the company and how small was the value for money... That stuff is really a piece of crap... For same money now you can get an automatic mechanic watch with Japanees 28.8kBph, assembled and quality controlled in Germany... And again, looking into the shop windows of most of the jewlry here around, all I see is craps stuff like Morellato, Miss Sixty, Just Cavalli -> brand-only devices. On a side it's sad that nowadays all is purely driven by "look". On the other side, I'm more and more happy with my Reps that, when properly working, are a real value for money! :-) What I wanted to say? Dunno... But I wrote something and I wanted to share Ciao, GenTLe
  12. About BP and Noob, for what I got reading around here, generally speaking Noob's watches have a better assembled movements, meaning cleaner/new ones. And normally they have less hurry to produce models so they may be more accurate. I'd also like to have a serious verification in this sense, meaning someone that properly checked let's say at least 5 different models from both factories. By the way, i'm wearing a BP Pam based on A7750 (without chrono functions) and not only it looks fantastic, it also works great and keeps the time fine! Got it from TrustyTime/Andrew On the other side, Omegas' Planet Ocean ceramic bezels from BP had (in the past, don't know if now it got solved) a problem of fading painted numbers, therefore my future Omega PO will be from Noob. About your question, find out who is selling (out of our TrustedDealers) the models you want and ask them in private mail if they are from BP or Noob so you'll get the answer :-) Ciao, GenTLe
  13. Well, so definitively it can't the same plastic used for the Swatches... That one is more similar to PET, it's such soft that it gets scratched just by the contacts with the shirt sleeve! For what I've seen hesalite doesn't get bad after just 1 day of normal use Cheers, GenTLe
  14. European laws :-( Here too we have "Made in Italy" clothes made with material coming from China, sawed in Turkmenistan, and then with few modifications done here -> made in Italy! :-/// You can imagine how this problem is strongly felt for a brand like "Made in Italy" :-/
  15. Mike, if you like the Bauhaus style, and you've a bunch of dollars to spend, then go for the Junghans - Max Bill collection. They're great, unfortunately no reps here and prices that go from 750 to 2500US$ The Chronoscope is great: ;-)
  16. Yeah, most probably I'll use an Omega PO Liquidmetal as daily one, but still to order it because... -see below- :-) Ahahah, Toro, I'll soon (as soon as I'll get back a new credit card from the bank after Monday 26/May stolen wallet) be also in the world of Omega & Cartier: I'm that Alessandro that was asking you, in these days, about the QC pictures of the watches on the Timegrapher. You replied to me yesterday :-) Ciao :-)
  17. Thanks Freddy, feeling better now icopernicus: Europeans send all sort of s_it to be demolished in the far east, but yet I admit that very unlikely Uk or Sweden or... may send there a nuclear powered military submarine (even old one) Don't know if I could say the same about 50yo USSR dismissed power plants, but still very unlikely...
  18. Hi Gents, around one month ago I purchased this sweety one (this time not a rep): It's based on original Miyota 9132 (28.8kbph) and has Hesalite front glass. Can you confirm that Hesalite is NOT the soft plastic used by things like Swatch Irony watches that get scratched just looking at it? I wore it just a couple of evenings (perfect for elegant suits that I don't wear so often) so I can't really say... PS: in case you don't know about this brand, give a look at their site (http://www.pointtec.de/): they have some very interesting objects there, like these original ETA 7753 based pilots (and also Zeppelin branded ones): Tnx, GenTLe
  19. Hi Gents, as I'm hearing all sort of bad stuff about china products, like: - toxic compounds used to color clothes (http://www.straight.com/news/592471/long-banned-pcb-found-clothing-paints-and-paper-yellow-pigment), - rubber containing toxic s_it used to produce pacifiers until 2011 (http://www.foodproductiondaily.com/Packaging/China-bans-bisphenol-A-in-baby-bottles-vows-death-penalty-for-serious-safety-breaches) - industrial waste muds for toothpaste (http://www.securingindustry.com/cosmetics-and-personal-care/lawsuit-in-counterfeit-toothpaste-case-targets-importer/s106/a1653/#.U45JZPm1Yog), - ... I'm just wondering if any of you has tried to put his rep under a geiger counter... You never know we are bringing around stuff made with steel recycled from some nuclear plant... And, sincerely, I'd avoid also rubber straps not coming from proven & certified companies... Bye, GenTLe
  20. Newbie question: what does "be an upgraded member" means? I've seen the "upgrade" title up in the page, but I'm not getting which are the benefits/duties etc etc... Tnx, GenTLe
  21. It's a matter of class: classy people do not need to "show off" They let the others to think what they want and only who knows what a Panerai (or an IWC, or a A. Lange&Sohne etc etc) is can see that Moreover: when I go to some supplier/artisan to pay for something, I always let the Pam in the drawer and wear my old, dirty and half-destroyed Casio But Atty. Gianni Agnelli was such a V.I.P. that he could do whatever he wanted and boosting funny trends too Just consider that now his nephews also own all Chrysler (other than the upper cited brands and many many others not automotive related)...
  22. Hahahah, Gran, no please, here in IT the watch over the cuff was only allowed to Gianni Agnelli (already passed over): the former proper owner of Fiat/Lancia/Alfa Romeo/Ferrari/Maserati companies and also of Juventus football team: Fraggle, I'm not in SoCal, I'm in Italy :-) The only thing I know about SoCal is something relate to this (not sure it's real or just marketing anyway :-p):
  23. Wow, I did a quick search on Google and I found DOZENS of shirtmakers here in IT with prices from 45 <-> 180€, have to dig a bit and get something: if I can avoid to go into one of those mega clothes shopping center and go crazy to find the "perfect shirt" just to discover that is has cufflinks... I'll be super-happy
  24. OnLine shirtmaker? Interesting ;-) Let's try to search for some of it! Are they from some far-east country or also local? I heard a friend that is ordering even his suits from like India or so, but actually never tried one... Tnx, Alex
