    Franck Muller : Too much money, probably doesn't know much about watches, overpays for a brand that uses ETA.

     

    Some do argue that Franck Muller is the Master of Complications, because he outdid Patek with the watch with most parts, but it's still ETA. A heavily modified ETA is still ETA.

     

    Just like a KIA with gold paints and 1000HP engine will always be a KIA.

     

    I have many friends who works as salesman in jewellers, and they claim that people who buys FM are usually rich people who just go for something expensive that isn't Rolex, because they want to be unique. They don't even know anything about the complications.

    :(

    I rock a gen muller and don't think this applies to me.

    From the watches I've seen he makes his own cases and puts together what you want.

    Gen dial

    Asian movement

    Rep bracelet..etc

    Best thing to do is message him though.

    Thought about getting a old DJ made. Just wish they were a little bigger.

    I have one with gen dial and crown and a Swiss eta movement. A Gen bezel would be a welcome upgrade though.

    ok guys I'll enter my TT in the high end build category. 

     

    Super Franken Rolex 16613...

     

    Build consists of:

    - TC V6 case set

    - WSO solid gold bezel

    - ST bezel washer

    - WM9 Bracelet (reshaped the hell out of the springbars to fit SEL correctly)

    - Thomas Priek saphire caseback

    - Genuine Rolex insert

    - Genuine Rolex dial

    - Genuine Rolex hands

    - Genuine Rolex date disc

    - Genuine Rolex crown and tube

    - Genuine Rolex crystal

    - Genuine Rolex Cal. 3135 movement

     

     

    As much as you helped me with my build Om3ga, I still have to compete against you (and lose) :)

    Here is my build that I picked up on friday. Not %100 finished but it's good enough for now.

     

    My build consists of:

    - Startime case set

    - Startime solid gold bezel

    - ST bezel washer

    - Genuine 16613 bracelet with WSO endlinks

    - Genuine Rolex insert

    - Genuine Rolex rusty dial

    - Genuine Rolex hands (custom aged)

    - Genuine Rolex date disc (still need to swap for open 6 font)

    - Genuine Rolex crown

    - TC crystal (will upgrade in the future)

    - Service yuki 3135 movement

    -Waterproofed to 7ATM

    Eh. Never really was a fan of Mille. a watch that costs more than a typical mansion shouldn't come with rubber straps.

    Some of his designs are cool but I've never been a fan of square/rectangle watches.

    Not to mention the neon colors he likes to use.

    RM watches would go great with some LA Gears. :lol:

    They actually don't come on rubber usually. Apparantly some of them come on "perfluoroelastomer Kalrez®" 

    and other composite materials.

     

    Do you not like Patek either because the aquanaut comes exclusively on rubber?

    It arrived today :-)

    AMAZING lighter. It came with spare flints (8x in Dupont package) and spare

    "bunsen", plus the complete box and documentation/guarantee card and finally with a real leather Dupont belt case.

    I'm EXTREMELY happy about it, even if, I've to say, it's a bit heavy in the pocket, with its 143g :)

    Also happy that it passed by Italian customs with NO problem at all :)

    I can only give a great feedback to the seller, which is "Oldshop1980" on iOffer.

    Two questions,

    How long did it take to receive your lighter?

    Did you make the seller an offer or buy it for asking price?

    Unlike the watches or the sun-glasses replicas, almost all of the pens and lighters replicas are poor quality, don't last for long and can be spotted easily.... especially the S.T dupont lighter,, the original sound can't be replicated

    The second hand are cheap, reliable and classy... That's how I feel about it

    You can bay an average condition S.T dupont for 100-150$ from a trusted second hand dealer.. and with a 50$ you can have a full service and it well always tell a story

    Or even you can bay a brand new Mini jet for 100-110$

    I own a vintage Ligne 2 for 4 years and a Mini jet and both are more that excellent

    Are there any trusted second hand dealers that you reccomend? I'm looking in to buying one.

    Here are the 3 watches I currently have that I consider frankens. Remember that my definition of franken might not be the same as yours, so please don't go crazy about whether they are franken or not.

    The one I have had the longest (3 months or so) is my TC v6 with gen bezel, crystal, and crown.

    And the 2 I received this week are my myanmatt datejust with an ETA movement, gen crystal, gen dial, gen crown

    and my two tone 16613 with a 21j movement that I am planning to make in to a great 16613 frankenstein using a TC case and 18k gold parts. It has a gen (water damaged) dial and a gen bezel insert, both of which will be used in my project. I really love the look of the water damaged dial, it has tons of character.

    Agreed.

    The VISA Black Card is OK, but it isn't much more than a cheap attempt to try to rip-off of the AMEX Centurian Card. Certainly not any better than the AMEX Platinum card in terms of exclusivity, and anyone (with decent credit scores) can get one.

    The Centurian Card on the other hand is a statement. It's given out by invitation only (you can't apply for one) and requires a very high minimum spend each month on an existing AMEX to even be considered for an invitation. If you have one of them, you're certainly wealthy (or have a huge corporate expense account). Ironically, other than the additional cache for having it, the benefits aren't all that much better than the Platinum Card. Well, other than the distinctive sound titanium makes when it hits the bar ... :)

    The only Pam I have ever seen on the wrist in person is on mine LOL and I go to NYC couple of times a week.

    That's a bit odd to me. I live in NY, and other than a friend owning a 111, i have seen about 4 on people's wrists in the past month.
