  1. Hey D,

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. People always refer to our shih tzu as our first born and can only imagine the suffering you are dealing with. I hope you can forgive your wife. I'm sure she is suffering and hurting too. (not to mention guilt ridden) I wish you all the best during this time of grief.

  2. This is a tough choice between two excellent replicas. The obvious choice is to get both! If no then consider:

Ingy biggest flaw is the date font. You must get this upgraded (check Lello). Otherwise it is perfect. It is also quite thick and hefty. For me, it falls in my casual/daily wearer category. Sturdy and understated.

The VCO's biggest issue as mentioned is the bracelet screws. I've had this issue in every VCO i've seen. Other variations revolve around the date window shape and the accent over the word Geneve (or lack of). These minor issues hardly retract from the beauty and elegence of this watch. It has a much thinner profile than the ingy, and could be considered a dress watch. The bracelet, despite it's screw issue, is much more interesting than the ingy.

You really can't go wrong with either. Throw in the MBK Nautilus and you're really screwed! :)

  3. So there is a lot of talk about shaving down the indices/markers on a 3717. What does this refer to? Are they too tall? Too wide? To long? Is there a reference to compare the gen vs rep? I want to ask my watchmaker to do this for me but a reference would help.

  4. I went back and forth with the AR issue on the MB silver ... but I decided the AR will only bring the silver dial out ... pure..

I was of the same mind, but my MBTW finally made it on the last cheiftang run, so I'll post pics when I get it back. By the way, though probably not a problem for you lanikai, but I had to take it to a watchmaker to get the bezel and crystal off. You can't to it by removing the back, since you can't easily get the dial off (just look at the size of the dial vs size of the caseback) you have to take the bezel off the front.

  5. Yes, you are correct Andrew did not sold me any gen parts, but I am trying to find the dial and the hands, if possible in order to create my own Franken VC.

If not then I will just try to use the best rep dial and hands available and the reason I have created this post is for the fellows member to help me out with my project!!!!!!!!!!!!

There were two gen dials up on ebay recently. You could check their priodically. No one has a perfect dial. Each one has it's flaws. Either the cross size is two small, or the Geneve text is missing the accent mark. Many people buy both versions and do a cross transplant.

  6. Yea, i want to try again, but am waiting to hear if there are any other good solutions, like maybe a chemical solution. Here is what it looks like now.

But under the light, they cyclops looks cloudy. I don't think it is sapphire so it might have gotten damaged during the removal process.

  7. That could explain it, but I'm not sure that's the case lan. At least it didn't appear to be.

Look at this The Zigmeister tutorial

Although I think the cyclops itself is mineral.

Isn't the 063 a sanwich dial cyclops.. meaning the cyclops is embedded between a sapphire and a mineral crystal .. ?? if this is the case you are not going to be able to swap mags even if you do get the crystals apart..

I could be wrong.. but I thought it was a sanwich ??

  8. So I took my PAM063 to my watchmaker to do a lello dw swap and a cyclops swap. The datewheel went in after some modification. Apparently it was bent and too thick. The cyclops though was another story. We tried torching it to melt the glue that held it in but it would not budge. Torched it again to the point that the glass was about to turn red. No luck. So basically had to leave it in there for now. Any ideas on what else to try?

  9. Don't bother with the the WBK if you already got the Silix. I've owned both. Once you see the difference in the two you will never wear the wbk version. Of course, for the price the WBK smp is simply one of the best buys out there.

Regarding your question about the pictures, most of the trusty dealers found on this forum use pictures of the actual reps, not of gens posing as reps (which would be very ironic). That doesn't always mean what you see is what you get. The picture they posted may be an older version of a rep, where as now the rep has a different pearl or crown. Some dealers such as Ruby will take pictures of the item the ship to you before they ship it.

    Wear it well.
