  1. Mine is a little strange. It does have a screw down crown but it only catches it at the very end and then it locks down. At the end it won't turn anymore. It stays there fine. To set time I only unwind counterclockwise a couple of turns and it pops out. My other screwdown crowns you must screw counterclockwise a long way before the stem pops out. After poping it back in you then have to screw clockwise a long way. This one is real short and sweet. Is this how the rest are? This VC looks great and is looking to be my best time keeper out of eight rep watches so far.
  2. Is the newer Silix VC Overseas ETA 2824 supposed to have a screw down crown? One that you unscrew in an anti-clockwise direction and then it wil pop out slightly.. You can then pull it out to set date and time.
  3. I came accross this interesting Patek dress watch the dealer says has the Lamania/Venus/Seagull movement. I know this is a very reliable movement but has its limitations. This watch has several dials that are placed different and was wondering if this movement would still be very reliable for this one. Anybody familiar with this movement and will it do this watch comfortably? I certainly don't want something with reliability like a 7750 with seconds at six. When it needs unorthodox gears etc to accomplish its task. I see this Lemania/ ST19 movement primarily in chronos with 2 dials at 3 and 9 o'clock. To me this watch says 7750 and lots of luck, but I could be wrong. http://s207.photobucket.com/albums/bb10/au...rent=PP-035.jpg Thanks
  4. Richard, I did not want to post the price because I did not want to upset Jay's apple cart until the orders shipped. Ruby charged me $239 shipped EMS for the same watch. I believe at least one other person here got the same deal. Her communication and service were outstanding through the entire process. She told me there was a problem with the movement stock before anyone else was notified and wanted to issue a refund. I stuck it out and she even held the watch for a few days while I was traveling. A great price, product and service is what this is all about. Stories about the good old days really have no meaning is this market. I really don't think it matters how long a dealer has been in business but more how they are performing today.
  5. It is confirmed there are more than one serial number for the backs of this watch. Jay told a couple of us there were multiple serial numbers involved in this watch. Some assumed it was specific to black and white dial faces, however never confirmed. I would be surprised if two manufacturers were getting this exact generation off the ground at the same time. Other than the serial numbers is there anything that leads you to believe it is a different watch? It appears to me to be yet another dealer sourcing the same watch. I suppose it could be another build with the same dial face.
  6. Ruby says the same time frame for the 2824's. I am all in on this one, no folding now. If they can't come through I still have three or four others in my crosshairs, so no teary eyes here. I have the fever for another watch I am chasing to keep me busy until this one comes through....patience.... patience.... It is a marathon and not a sprint...
  7. Ruby says it is true about the lack of movements story. If Jay will ignore emails regarding if he has stock but answer my other questions about placing an order I have little doubt the factory will seriously consider doing what they have to in order to ship something and keep the order. This business if funny enough when everything goes smooth. I asked Ruby to actually look the watch over and absolutely no drop shipments on this watch. I can wait a little longer to not have a boomerang going back through EMS on my dime. I am definetely going to check the movement first thing. Boy, another PAM is sure looking like an easy deal about now.
  8. This is really a lot of fun. I can
  9. For this watch I wanted an out of the box realistic rep with no mods past possible AR or lum. I looked at both revs a great deal and felt the trapezoid date window was a great improvement. When I look at the square punch it really looks awkward from quite a long distance. I believe the shape of this date window is second only to the logo as far as the average person noticing anything cheap or out of place. The square punch is not only incorrect to gen but it just looks out of place on the watch face. The rest of the watch face has significant complexity of detail, style and flow. If an average person had not seen this gen, the square window still looks out of place. Anyone that had looked at the gen I feel the unique date window shape would stick in their mind and not the depth of bevel. If someone is familiar with the date window bevel you
  10. When I requested a quote on the white one I gave Jay the posted black one serial number. Jay mentioned to me that their were different serial numbers. He did not expand on that sentence. I believe there have to be at least two serial numbers out there and possibly more. You would think from a manufacturing perspective it makes sense to make one big run with everything the same for the back piece. It does show some attention to detail to differentiate the colors by S/N.
  11. Great pics on the white one! Is Ruby shipping the same model too?
  12. I could not agree with you more it is still a great deal. I just wanted everyone to know there is a change. It is a little unsettling that other people have purchased the same for less in the last week, but that is small potatoes. I did not want a rush shipment. I only wanted to know if it is in stock and can it ship upon receipt of an order. Two weeks is no big deal, but 3 to 4 weeks is a pain and just means they are doing the "who's got the watch shuffle". If I didn't travel a lot I wouldn't care, however I would not want it to be sent back if I'm not there. It could take the rest of my life to get it then. It would be nice to get verifiction from the seller the white is available and ready to ship. You have to take availability in forum chatter with a grain of salt. They could be getting the last one of a batch, wrong one etc.
  13. I got an email reply and he bumped the price to $250 and is only taking orders by email. It is impossible for him to know you want a new batch white one by ordering the black $225 one or the smaller white one at $185 off the website. I have asked twice if they have the new white one in stock to ship and I cannot get a straight answer. They act like they don't see the question. I travel and can't get involved in one of these month long deliveries with no shipping information for a week or two. Anyone have a handle on their stock situation on the white ones? Are they drop shipping them?
  14. Thanks anyways RT, Great posting at a great time for me. I was just floundering around between three sites trying to get a handle on this exact watch. I hate having to move forward with older postings. Dealers and manufacturers can change quality so quickly. There is nothing like the feeling of actually knowing which rep you feel best about buying. Hmmm... White? Black? White? Black?......
  15. I'm not sure if I understand your statement. Does the original have an exceptionally thick double AR coating and the rep has little if any? It would make sense that a very thick AR gives the original that "liquid" or "electric" blue look. I knew this one would be hard to duplicate. It is about the most formal looking sportwatch there is. This is one watch you could never tell from dealer website pictures how close to the original the color is. I want one but may have to hunt for a deal on an original to get the quality I want.
