I think it's a symptom of waterproof failure. The rust is due by the dial or movement, not by the case steel. Do you open this case?

Please Concepta, do not seed what I'm saying to our friend!! If the GEN dial go on 2893, it go for sure on 2892-2 too. They got same measures. I think that Domi thought that is sure better to get one real GMT 2893 instead of a moded to GMT 2892-2 Not CHS! And this is a fact! The right CHS 2892-2 are difficult to find on the market and sure less durables than the great 2893 real GMT........
