Thanks for the info! I noticed a slight about of "dust" on the inside of the case back once removed, i think the click was fine, or are you referring to spring around the click?
-
I'm pretty sure that my mainspring broke yesterday. I was winding and heard a unusual click, now it doesn't stop when I wind it and I hear a click after every 8 turns of the crown. Can the mainspring just be replaced or should the whole barrel? Does the whole movement need to be disassembled and through maintenance performed??
Thanks

What did you do about the date window on the gen dial, I just recently picked up a black gen dial (huge difference) but the date window is completely off from the 2836...

do all the hands on the bell & ross instrument collection glow blue?
-
What color does the gen black dial white numerals glow, all the hands glow blue regardless of dial , right?

Could anyone chime in and give a detailed comparison of what individual characteristic make the chrono a better rep than the non chrono, how is the case more accurate, clasp, crown, etc to the gen?

sales@rctritec.com
Repair sets (1g powder + 1g varnish + 1g diluent + mixing pot and glass rod) were at 41 or 44.20 CHF each, depending on the color (C3 and natural: 41 CHF; C1, white and coloured: 44.20 CHF).
Plus 30-40 CHF shipping & handling, depending on your country (Europe 30, other countries 40).
Those were their prices on March 2007, at least.
Ask Elisabeth politely for one or more sets by qualifying you as an amateur/hobbist watchsmith.
Unfortunately, they were not taking credit card or paypal payments.
Is this repair set enough to do 4 dials? If not on average how many dials can one set do?

What happened to your post with the new Milgauss pictures?
-
OK, sure it looks nice... real nice.... but I am talking sharp literally.
Not the bracelet... that's smooth as can be. But the top ss loops (top and bottom of the crystal)... the brushed part... is very sharp on the sides.
Anyone know if the gen is like that? I doubt it.... Anyone do anything about it?
Thanks for reading.
J
The gen is not that sharp, use some fine sandpaper and round the corners slightly, take a close look at some pictures of the gen.

What if the crown is spring loaded on the stem. You can push the crown in and spin it freely. When the crown is is not pushed in, it is in the locked position and will spin with the stem.
To remove the crown from the stem- Seat the stem boss into a pin vise, and with a bit of pressure, you can unthread the crown from the stem. Be careful- If the crown doesn't want to turn, don't force it, as you could snap the stem at the crown (leaving the broken half of the stem inside the crown). If you feel significant resistance, heat the stem up a bit where it mates at the crown- This will soften any glue present, and should help in the crown removal.Best of luck...

Hopefully that saying will go down in history...and years from now I will be quoted by my grandsons...unlikely, but I can dream can't I...
For a how to do the crown removal, see this post...

Both your links seem to be down, so how do I remove a crown from an eta 28xx stem?

How do you find out the thread pitch of the screws? I don't know where to find a gauge that small?

Sounds like there are a few extra dials out there; if you want to unload one please email me (my username @ gmail.com)
Thanks!
I would definitely be interested in one of these extra dials also...

Would you say that the black dial has a matte, semi gloss or gloss finish to it?
btw: congrats on a good looking watch!
-
Hope you feel better soon, got your message today about the watch, Thanks!

A friend sent me a link to this site. I checked out the Daytona. Well, the dial is way off to say the least, but the price wow, thats another story
check it out: http://www.eurofakes.com/
Everyone who buys something from this site should also receive a free drop kick to the head, maybe that would knock some sense into them...
