  1. Count me in Have just acquired a very nice DSN 111h, all it really needs is a better crown and I'll be one happy camper prof
  2. One thing I should add is that once you've bought it, go for the double AR coating on the crystal - mine was done recently as part of the run organised by k2222, and it really does make a huge difference to the look of the watch.....much closer to gen. prof
  3. Hello and welcome from another (not quite middle-aged) UK member prof
  4. I'd say UPO as it's my daily beater. FWIW, I think the size issue, and whether you can wear it with a suit/dress cuffs, is very dependent on your own build. I'm just shy of 6', weigh 210lbs, and my UPO fits comfortably under my shirt sleeve, both button and french cuff; in addition to this, my wrists are 8", so although it is a fairly large watch, it doesn't look ungainly, or out of place. It's also not as thick as the SOSF, so if you can wear that with shirts/suits, you'll be fine with the UPO prof
  5. Hello from somewhere on the East coast.. prof
  6. Hi, may I ask which of Aaron's straps you chose, as he has several great looking versions in his Photobucket? I've dealt with Aaron previously for a Panerai strap, and his workmanship is excellent, but I'm still undecided if I should get my Santos 100 strap from him or buy a gen. Not wanting to hijack this thread, but does anybody know the retail price of a gen strap, and does it include the deployant buckle? I've read that it can be difficult to purchase the gen straps, that they are reluctant (or refuse?) to sell without seeing the watch that it's destined for - any hints or tips on how to overcome this? many thanks, prof
  7. Wedding ring, watch, occasionally some nice cufflinks................and a tattoo if that counts
  8. Great work so far rocket, can't wait to see the results. I'm still in for one, and can, (like many others I'm sure), pay an advance if needed; can't see any sense in you being out of pocket. Like the strap tutorial suggestion, I'm still debating whether to get the gen or one from Aaron As an interesting aside, and whilst waiting for my own Santos to arrive from Silix, (UK postal strikes ), I re-read new & improved osteopath's post about the Santos Chrono with the 7753 movement, and I'm seriously considering getting one - any thoughts? prof
  9. Great comparison pics! Really shows how good the double AR is; I can't stop looking at the 'invisible' crystal on my UPO (I'd intended to post some shots, but my photography skills aren't up to that yet). Just to add to the other comments, Jakub really has done an outstanding job both organising and communicating, couldn't ask for more. prof
  10. Ah ha! So that's what it's called. I've had this condition since my teens, my wife just thinks it's comical, but I don't even have to look at the sun directly, even a reflection through a window will trigger it prof
  11. I've seen it on Andrew's site (trusty), listed as the Radiomir Luminor 2006 model. I'll just add that I also own a mini-fiddy, bought from a fellow member, (no idea where it originally came from), which is currently fitted to a really nice vintage cracked black strap (with barley stitching that matches the gold hands) from HKTan. It gets a surprising amount of attention, more than my 111h which is a similar size, and I put it down to the domed crystal and clean dial; no doubt I'll get a Fiddy at some point, but I'll continue to enjoy this regardless. I don't have small wrists (8"), so I can wear the larger watches with no problems, but I do like the fact that the 44mm size of this one allows it to be worn with a suit without it standing out too much. prof
  12. Well, I'm surprised no one else has mentioned it, so let me be the first to nominate the Cartier Santos 100 SS - big, chunky and with an ETA 2824 movement (apparently), this is bang on the $150 limit, but next on my list when funds allow prof
  13. Wow, awesome watch Mini-Fiddy case and california dial? If you ever plan to sell, or build another, give me a shout... prof
  14. Just to add to all the other props, that is a super-nice piece A friend owns that very same (gen) model, and it's pretty much the reason that I'm now in this whole crazy rep world - have a UPO, but saving hard for a gen anyway, enjoy the special feeling it brings, prof
  15. Fantastic!! Loving the Italian speedboat too My crystal goes back on my pumpkin UPO tomorrow........tried sitting it on top and it just diappears! Looking forward to comparing it to my mate's gen prof
  16. Max, that looks brilliant! My crystal just arrived today, so lined up to be fitted back in my UPO by watchsmith tomorrow - can't wait prof
  17. Like those..............count me in if you can persuade Angus. I know that some short runs of cufflinks were done a while back for Panerai ones as well................I got into this too late to get some
  18. To continue in that theme, I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Sorry, couldn't resist, one of my fave's
  19. Teejay, That's a real shame to see your nice new toy all smashed, but I reckon it's served some purpose in it's short life (if it is indeed beyond 'economic' repair), by convincing others (myself included) that a bracelet looks brilliant on a 111h. prof
  20. It wouldn't be so bad if they actually managed to deliver stuff when they weren't on strike. prof
  21. Maybe I'm being slightly dense here, but which one of those two bracelets is the tapered one, or is it both? If you'd like to divest yourself of the second strap, PM me, I'm in the market for one. prof
  22. Never really been a big fan of Breitling's...........until now.........wow, that PVD version is the nuts On my 'must have' list now. Strangely tempted by the SS version too prof
  23. Caught on the horns of the same dilemma - bought a basic 111h from Andrew, happily worn for the last 3 months, but the PAM effect (osmosis?) now means that I would like better lume, cannon pin, etc., etc. For what it's worth, (and having seen The Zigmeister's price list) I'm leaning towards selling it and buying a modded one from TWP, or a DSN. prof
