  1. Would have loved to have joined this, but just the wrong time of year for me [emoji20] Hopefully you may do some more next year?
  2. Hi T, My status still says member, despite the fact that I renewed my platinum on the 6th September? Thanks, S
  3. Excellent write up babola I just received my 177L yesterday, and I've spent all day looking at it, and your review highlighted a couple of minor issues that, whilst they didn't (and don't) bother me, at least I can now plan an easy fix. Those being the dial colour and finsh, and the movement - methinks I will save some pennies and order a 111J next month and then see who can carry out the transplant for me. Other than that, I'm as amazed as everyone else with regard to the appearance, feel and fantastic lume on these If the only fly in the ointment is the poor movement, then that's a relatively simple and straightforward fix.............if only it was always this easy......maybe we'd get bored
  4. Very nice strap Deniz, but there were a couple of things I couldn't quite determine from the picture - is it the sueded JV style, and what shade of brown is it? It looks sort of mid-brown, like a dark honey tan almost, but it could just be the background or the lighting. Either way it really suits the Ti case, and thanks for the pointer, hadn't cosnidered Heroic, better have a look on Risti and see what there is. Cheers, S
  5. Brilliant review, thanks burnz The pictures and comparisons make this look so good that I pulled the trigger earlier today and ordered from Andrew, which is quite a big deal for me since a) I was about to list a big chunk of my collection to fund a gen, and I haven't bought from a dealer for over a year (other members yes, but no 'new' watches as such).......suffice to say I'll be counting the days till it arrives Only question remaining is which strap suits this watch best? I'm pretty sure I'm going to get a dark brown gator with a brushed deployant, but I'm unsure as to whether I should just go for a nice matte antique finish, or JV style? For those that already have this watch on new shoes, would be great to see some pics....
  6. Just spotted this, excellent idea! Just backed it
  7. 3 1/2 years and it's in regular rotation. In that time though, it has benefited from a The Zigmeister service, including installation of gen dial/hands/crown/tube, Chief AR, and a much improved bracelet with gen clasp and endlinks. I've been sorely tempted to just buy the gen on more than one occasion,(too much time spent in airports :-) ) but held back by the simple thought that I wouldn't want to let this one go, and in truth it's a great watch as is.
  8. I'm with you on that, just picked up some Iron Heart 634s........21oz of denim goodness Next up will probably be some Studio d'Artisan.
  9. Well, having bought a Macbook Pro about 3 months back, I'm now metaphorically kicking myself - the iPad would pretty much address all of my home computing needs.....I have a work laptop and vpn for all things work related. I'll probably still buy one since it's relatively cheap, I love gadgets, and, as an iPhone user I've been banging on to friends and colleagues about how "it would be great if we could have a touchscreen computer that works like the iPhone" Just need to time my next US business trip in with the launch......March sometime, I think?
  10. Hi Dixon, welcome to the club ; good choice for your first, I did the same and was completely hooked from that point on...............as TJ said, you'll be wanting to get some new straps soon P
  11. +1, looks ace Somehow though, those colours make me think of Wimbledon.....
  12. AKA the Blacksteel, and it is indeed a very fine thing, even better on one of Aaron's custom black'n'red straps
  13. This has been on my wrist all week Just managed to catch the sunset..
  14. Good eyes! Yep, Anasazi velcro's, (2nd pair, but I've had about 3 pairs of the lace ups, which are better for longer routes), and an old pair of UFO's - I only boulder these days, so don't wear shoes out as fast as I used to outdoors Over the years I've tried pretty much all the different brands, but 5.10's just fit me so well, and the grip from the Stealth rubber has never let me down.
  15. Well, I'm of the same opinion as dbr, and as such I've just bought one.........and a nice strap from carl at gasgasbones to go with it Yes, it's quartz, and yes the crystal isn't quite there, but for the price and the look, it'll be a very good daily beater/gym/mtb watch for me. Big thanks to condemore for bringing this to my attention
  16. OS, absolutely brilliant reporting - I've been looking forward to these each day. Rather more enlightening than the fomulaic/patronising dross that they call travel programmes on UK telly! BTW, thanks for helping M out with looking for my SOH crystal
  17. Nice sub! My vote goes for the 3rd strap - I think that vintage look works really well with the 24 I can see that I'll have to pay Stan a visit
  18. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll give him a try, although it's been a while since I've bought anything from him.......fingers crossed.
  19. I would guess yes, that it probably is - if you could measure yours that would be a fantastic help
  20. Morning all, still trying to find this info - any suggestions? Thanks.
  21. Hi guys, I'm trying to source a crystal directly from a dealer in GZ for a Superocean Heritage crystal, but unfortunately I can't provide exact dimensions as I don't have the original crystal (it's with Rocketeer ). So if anyone knows the exact dimensions, or has a crystal out that they could measure for me, that would make my day I haven't actually worn this watch for over a year, and I'm beginning to think it must have been cursed at some point as I very nearly lost the crystal to Jakub (k2222) and now it seems that I've definitely lost it to rocketeer......so the opportunity to buy a replacement crystal is my last option. Any help greatly appreciated, S.
  22. Wow, great travelogue! Waiting for the next installment with baited breath. I found the biggest problem out there was the interpretation of the truth.......keep your BS sensors on their highest settings
